Woman killed in Middleborough crash remembered for love of reading, plants
A 68-year-old woman who was killed in a crash in Middleborough earlier this month, along with her longtime partner, was remembered in her obituary for her love of her family. Rosemarie Dias, of Wareham, was killed along with Cecil 'Tex' Johnson, 70, when their car crashed into the woods off Interstate 495 North. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Dias was born in Wareham and lived there her entire life. She graduated from Bridgewater State University and worked as a supervisor at Upham's Corner Health Center in Dorchester for more than 40 years. The obituary remembers Dias for her love of reading, tending to her houseplants and flower gardens, and trips to the movie theater, the casino and the beach. But 'most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them,' the notice reads. A celebration of life for Dias will be held on July 26 at the Dudley Brown VFW Post in Onset. Hale, 58, an honorary degree recipient at the university, offered $1,000 to each graduate in the class of 2025 at the school's commencement ceremony on May 16, per 'I have one more thing to share," Hale said after his commencement address. Guards then emerged from a nearby security-flanked black SUV with duffel bags of cash. Each bag was packed with individual envelopes containing $500 in cash, the outlet reports. Hale explained that each graduate would receive two envelopes. 'One is for you,' Hale told the more than 1,400 graduating seniors in a video of the graduation. 'The other is for someone in need.' This is the billionaire's second time offering this financial gift to graduating college students. In 2024, he awarded the same funds to graduates of the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. The founder and CEO of Granite Telecommunications added that his philanthropic efforts have been a highlight of his career thus far. 'The turmoil in our country has increased the need for caring, sharing, and compassion,' he said during the speech on May 16. 'Our community needs your help, your leadership, and your empathy more than ever.' Students from the Hancock and Angelo Elementary Schools in Brockton, Mass., decorated the envelopes inside the duffel bags. "One of the greatest joys in life has been the joy of giving,' Hale said. Bill Belichick sat in front row to cheer for girlfriend Jordon Hudson in Miss Maine pageant
For this competition, Bill Belichick found himself in the seats. On May 11, Belichick's girlfriend Jordon Hudson, 24, competed for Miss Maine with her 73-year-old boyfriend supporting her from the front row of the competition. Even with the support, Hudson came in third place. Shelby Howell of Bangor won the pageant and will go on to compete in Miss USA. This was Hudson's second time competing in the pageant. In 2024, she placed second. While Hudson grew up in Massachusetts – she lived in Provincetown and went to Nauset Regional High School in Eastham – she was born in Hancock, Maine. Her father, who also sat in the front, is a fisherman. During the pageant, she talked about wanting to help displaced fishermen. Hudson is known as a cheerleader. According to her Instagram, Hudson cheered at Bridgewater State University, with her team winning a National Cheerleaders Association Collegiate Championship in 2021. Along with completing her Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy, Hudson completed a professional cosmetology license at New England Hair Academy, where she was dually enrolled during her senior year of high school and freshman year of college. Today, Hudson works as the executive director of Trouble Club Enterprises. In 2021, while Hudson was still in college in Bridgewater, she and Belichick met while on a flight from Boston to Florida. The pair was spotted together throughout 2023, and they officially confirmed their relationship in May of 2024. The relationship has catapulted her into the limelight due to her frequent presence with Belichick. While Hudson didn't win the pageant, she did win the style award. Bill Belichick Supports Girlfriend Jordon Hudson as She Competes in Miss Maine USA Pageant
Bill Belichick supported his girlfriend Jordon Hudson as she competed in the Miss Maine USA pageant, which kicked off on Saturday, May 10 Hudson, 24, is representing her hometown of Hancock, Maine She announced her plans to compete in the pageant in an April 9 Instagram post Bill Belichick is Jordon Hudson's biggest fan! Belichick, 73, was in attendance at the Miss Maine USA pageant for the preliminary rounds on Saturday, May 10, in Portland, as his 24-year-old girlfriend competed for the title. The Tar Heels coach could be seen at the event supporting Hudson, who was spotted backstage wearing a strapless wrap minidress — in light Carolina blue, a nod to UNC. Hudson represented her hometown, Hancock, in the pageant. Hudson, a former collegiate cheerleading champ at Bridgewater State University, announced she was competing in the Miss Maine pageant in a post on Instagram on April 9, which is International Pageant Day. "I couldn't think of a better day to share with the world that I will be competing for Miss Maine USA 2025; representing my hometown, Hancock. 🫶🏼💜[insert mussel shell emoji]," she wrote at the time. Hudson was chosen to receive the honor over 16 other women competing for the title of Miss Maine USA 2025. The winner of the top crown is automatically selected to represent the New England state in the next round of competition, the 2025 Miss USA pageant. Belichick's support for Hudson at the pageant comes just after UNC denied a May 9 report from ESPN's Pablo Torre claiming Hudson had been banned from the school's football facilities. In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, the university said there have been "false reports about Jordon Hudson's role." "While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities," the statement said, adding that Hudson will continue to function as a publicist for Belichick. "Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University.' Following the denial from UNC, Torre issued a statement to PEOPLE doubling down on his report. 'The University of North Carolina can choose to describe or change its position on Jordon Hudson's involvement however it wishes, following the publication of our episode," Torre began in his statement. "We requested comment and filed dozens of FOIA requests that were not satisfied. And we stand by the specific reporting in our episode, which came from the highest levels of the football program.' The conflicting reports regarding Hudson's access to UNC Football came just over a week after the couple made headlines for an interview that turned uncomfortable on CBS Sunday Mornings on April 27. When journalist Tony Dokoupil asked Belichick, who was promoting his book The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football, how he met Hudson, she sternly shut the question down while acting as his publicist. "We're not talking about this,' she said sternly to Dokoupil after he asked the eight-time Super Bowl champion coach how he and Hudson first crossed paths. The journalist then turned his attention to the glimpses the couple has already given into their relationship — Hudson's Instagram posts, including a snap of them doing beach yoga together, and a photo of their mermaid-fisherman Halloween costumes. Belichick stayed relatively mum about the public's perception of his relationship, only saying, "I've never been too worried about what everyone else thinks,' adding that instead, he just tries 'to do what I feel like is best for me, and what's right.' Meet Jordon Hudson, Bill Belichick's 24-year-old girlfriend who hopes to become the next Miss USA
Jordon Hudson describes herself as a founder, CEO, and avid "bird-er," although you most likely know her as the 24-year-old girlfriend of NFL coaching legend Bill Belichick. But Hudson soon hopes to be known by another title — Miss USA. The pageant queen will compete at Miss Maine on May 10 and 11 and, if she wins the state crown, will head to the national stage. Here's everything you need to know about Hudson, from her family's fisherman roots to why she believes beauty queens are the modern suffragettes. Jordon Hudson is a Maine native who advocates for fishermen Hudson wrote in a recent Instagram post that she was "practically born on the waters of Hancock Point" in Maine, just as her father had been, "and his father, and his father… since before the American Revolutionary War." "Daughter of Maine fishermen" is the first thing listed in Hudson's Instagram bio, and the pageant queen frequently uses her platform to advocate for the profession. In March, Hudson wrote an Instagram plea to Donald Trump after it was announced that his administration planned to cut the Maine Sea Grant, a federal funding program that supports research and outreach for the state's marine economy. "It was the reckless regulatory decisions by government officials with no stake in those decisions that forced my 9th generation fishermen father out of this industry more than 15 years ago," Hudson said. "Please do not put others through what we have been through." Days later, Hudson posted an Instagram picture of herself with Susan Collins and praised the Maine senator following the news that Trump's administration had agreed to renegotiate the grant's funding. On May 2, it was announced that funding had been restored. Hudson was a national cheerleading champion in college Hudson was a cheerleader at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts. In 2021, her team won a National Cheerleaders Association Collegiate Championship, the famous Daytona, Florida, competition at the center of the Netflix documentary "Cheer." According to her Instagram, Hudson was also a model for Rebel Athletic, a cheer and dance apparel brand, and toured with "Cheer" star Gabi Butler around New England. Hudson joined the East Celebrity Elite cheer squad after graduating from college and proudly calls herself a "geriatric cheerleader" on Instagram. In a February 2024 post, Hudson praised the sport for keeping her "anchored through difficult seasons of adolescence and young adulthood" and those who helped with the "neurological damage rehabilitation" she required after repetitive concussions from the sport. The 24-year-old is also a licensed cosmetologist According to her LinkedIn, Hudson received her cosmetology professional licensure from the New England Hair Academy in November 2019 while enrolled at Bridgewater, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in philosophy in May 2022. In a lengthy Instagram post from November 2019, Hudson shared that balancing cosmetology school with college, cheerleading, and a job as a henna tattoo artist had been an "intense chapter" of her life. Hudson has been competing in pageants for years Hudson placed third runner-up at the Miss Massachusetts Teen USA competition in 2020 and placed first runner-up at Miss Maine USA 2024. She will represent her hometown of Hancock at the Miss Maine USA 2025 competition on May 10 and 11. The winner will go on to compete at Miss USA, which has never crowned a Miss Maine in its 73-year history. In January, Hudson shared a picture of herself attending the Miss America 2025 pageant and explained why she believes "beauty queens are the contemporary suffragettes." "Like feminism, pageantry is malleable & looks a lot different now than it did 104 years ago, however, the essence and mission to perpetuate Women's Rights and Empowerment is never-changing," she wrote on Instagram. "Sure, both 'feminism' & 'pageantry' have flaws and connotative aspects (as does every other 'industry'), but we are all dedicated to finding the solutions to all of these issues," she continued. "Let it not be mistaken that our intentions are anything aside from deep and pure." Hudson and Belichick announced their relationship in June 2024 The pageant queen and former New England Patriots coach have said they met on a flight in 2021, where they bonded over Hudson's philosophy studies. Hudson posted a video of her textbook with Belichick's signature in a February Instagram post celebrating their "four-year meetiversary." Hudson seemed to hit back at critics of the couple's 49-year age gap with a Valentine's Day post in which she wrote that "we do not need to justify 'why' we love a particular person." "Love is not to be judged," she added. "It is never okay to harass or abuse a person based upon who they love." Hudson is now involved with Belichick's business dealings Belichick, now the head football coach for the University of North Carolina, requested that Hudson be copied on emails between him and the university in March, The Athletic reported. In his new memoir, which was released on May 6, he also calls Hudson his "creative muse" and has said they share "both a personal and professional relationship." Ahead of his memoir's release, Belichick sat down for a "CBS Sunday Morning" interview, where journalist Tony Dokoupil called Hudson a "constant presence." Belichick later defended her in a statement, saying she was "simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track." According to her LinkedIn, Hudson is currently the founder and CEO of Trouble Cub Enterprises. An active job listing for Trouble Cub Enterprises describes it as an "East Coast-based holding company for a complex portfolio of businesses across a wide range of industries, including cosmetics, real estate, media production, merchandising, creative consultation, business strategy, and investment." In April, the company filed for 14 trademarks related to Belichick's iconic coach catchphrases, which are currently owned by the New England Patriots and owner Robert Kraft, according to People. The trademark request included Belichick quotes like "Do your job," "Ignore the noise," and "No days off." The request would add "(Bill's version)" to the end of each quote, similar to how Taylor Swift titled her re-released music after losing her original discography to Scooter Braun.
