Economist suggests merging Jersey and Guernsey public services

Guernsey and Jersey's public services should consider working together to save money, an economist has Brock, principal advisor at research firm Islefact, said it costs about £2bn to run the Channel Islands each Brock said, given the combined running costs of the islands public sectors, work was needed to "improve the relationship and perhaps have a combined public service".Pan-Island Commissioner for Standards Dr Melissa McCullough said any collaboration would need "equal partnership". 'Pressures are growing' Mr Brock cited healthcare, education and general administration as three areas where the islands could work together more closely. "One of the things I focus on is where best practice is being applied in other islands around the world," he said."In the past, the Channel Islands in particular had been immune to external pressures - those external pressures are growing daily... there's a problem every week or every month at the moment. "With an ageing population demographic, artificial intelligence, all of the issues that are relevant in both islands, I think it's a perfect opportunity to try and say, 'Right, well where can savings be made?'." About 30% of the £2bn was spent on healthcare, while another 20% was spent on general administration, said Mr terms of education, he said there was a labour shortage across both islands and a pan-island plan should be considered."There are many islands which have got one administration over several islands... that could be applied in Jersey and Guernsey," he said. Wayne Bates, a national negotiator for teacher's union NASUWT, said co-operation between schools was a "good thing".He said any changes to improve education, performance and outcomes for pupils would have a "beneficial impact on the economies of both islands".Dr McCullough, who works for the islands to investigate breaches into their codes of conduct, said a collaboration would need an "equal partnership", regardless of the size of the island."It's about better service delivery, it's not necessarily about conforming to one sort of model," she said."Anybody who is looking to share services... has to be clear about mutual respect."Each island has an equal say."

UFC legend reveals Brock Lesnar's ‘banned' WWE status

The post UFC legend reveals Brock Lesnar's 'banned' WWE status appeared first on ClutchPoints. According to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, WWE star Brock Lesnar is on the 'banned list' amid his indefinite hiatus. If this is true, this could spell the end of Lesnar's professional wrestling career. During an interview on the MIghycast podcast, Cormier debunked the idea of facing Lesnar in WWE (1:13:00 mark). He claimed Lesnar was on a 'banned list,' though he didn't specify if it was from WWE, UFC, or their parent company, TKO. 'I mean, Brock is on the banned list right now,' Cormier revealed. 'Brock got into so much trouble… I ain't telling you on-air what Brock did, [but] Brock is in so much trouble.' That makes it sound like Lesnar will not be coming back to WWE anytime soon. Whether he is 'banned' from WWE or TKO altogether, it does not look good for him. Why is WWE star Brock Lesnar on the 'banned list'? Lesnar has not been seen in WWE since August 2023. He faced Cody Rhodes in the rubber match of their feud at SummerSlam. Afterward, he raised Rhodes' arm, seemingly passing the torch to the 'American Nightmare.' While he was supposed to return at the Royal Rumble in January 2024, Lesnar was pulled from his plans. This was due to a former WWE employee, Janel Grant, filing a lawsuit against Vince McMahon. Initially, Lesnar was not specifically named in the lawsuit. However, it was heavily implied that he was involved, as McMahon tried to traffic Grant to Lesnar during his contract negotiations to return to WWE in 2021. Later, in February 2025, Lesnar was officially named in the lawsuit. WWE and TKO have continued to withhold Lesnar from returning to the ring. It is unclear if he will ever get back in the squared circle. It would almost be a surprise at this point. Since coming back to wrestling in 2021, Lesnar has predominantly been a babyface. This was a drastic change from his previous tenures, during which he usually played the heel. Lesnar feuded with Roman Reigns over the Universal Championship upon his return. Their longstanding feud culminated at the 2022 SummerSlam event. After that, he had matches with Bobby Lashley, Omos, and Rhodes. Brock Lesnar On WWE's 'Ban List' After Scandal? Explosive Claim Surfaces

Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier made a stunning revelation about Brock Lesnar's current status in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Cormier believes that Brock may not return to WWE and even went on to say that the multiple-time champion is currently on the company's 'ban list'. Brock has not featured in WWE since August 2023 after his loss to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam. Brock was reportedly going to make his return at 2024 Royal Rumble but it did not materialise and several fans were of the opinion that the decision was impacted by the Janel Grand lawsuit. Lesnar was named in the sex trafficing lawsuit along with Vince McMahon and he has not featured in WWE ever since. "Brock [Lesnar] is on the ban list right now. Oh dude, Brock got in so much trouble. I ain't telling you on air what Brock did. Brock is so much in trouble," Daniel Cormier said on the 'Mighty' Podcast. Meanwhile, CM Punk launched a surprising verbal rant on Dominik Mysterio and called him 'illiterate'. Dominik has taken shots at Punk by calling him 'old' over the years but it was the first time that the veteran wrestler replied as he said that Dominik has no idea what his own tattoos mean. "A lot of people don't know he does that because a lot of the tattoos he got are misspelled because Dominik can't read," Punk said. While the spat between Punk and Dominik has mostly been verbal in the recent past, this can be the start of a rivalry. "I hate CM Punk, why, because he's old, he disappeared for what, 30 years, and came back and he's now what, 60, and he's still wrestling, he tortured me when I was a I was 12 years old, and he was probably like 45 at the time, maybe 50 - I just don't like CM Punk, he traumatized me as a kid, who does that to a 12 year old, what's wrong with him," Dominik had earlier said.
