Brilliant Brickfield beat Buckley for first win of season

Gareth Wilson's charges made the step-up from the Ardal Leagues last season and they comfortably got the better of Buckley Town 4-0 to secure a first league success at the third time of asking. After drawing a blank in the draw with Rhyl 1879 and defeat versus Caersws, it all clicked at last for Brickfield, with Danny Jones finding the back of the net twice. Alex Darlington and Jay Richardson also struck for Gareth Wilson's charges, who moved themselves into fifth spot in the rankings. It was a game to forget for Buckley boss Asa Hamilton, who told the club's Facebook page: 'No positives to take. If we don't pull our act together, we're going to be fighting relegation.' Gresford Athletic opened their account with a crucial 2-1 triumph at home to Ruthin Town. Athletic broke the deadlock two minutes shy of half-time. Dan Collins crossed into the box and Jake Roberts netted with a diving header. Collins was the creator once more when Eddie Maurice-Jones' side doubled their advantage close to the hour mark. He supplied a second assist of the encounter for Iwan Roberts to make it 2-0. Ruthin pulled one back late on through Alex Smith's own goal. Mold Alex maintained their unbeaten league start with a 2-0 triumph away to Caersws. Tyler Berry netted both of the goals in the first half to seal the deal, assisted by Cynan Edwards and Craig Rogers in the seventh and 17th minutes respectively. Mold boss Barry Owen was understandably pleased after the match-up and he told the club's X site: 'Really happy... we came here and won last year. 'So, we wanted to repeat that. We know that they've started the season really well. 'We've got a lot of feedback on how they've been playing and I've got big respect for (Caersws manager) Craig (Williams) from when he was a player and, obviously, now as a manager, and I hope he does well - bar when he plays us, obviously! 'First half, I thought we were excellent. Really, one of the best performances that we've had since we've been at the club. 'We could have been four, five-nil up at half-time and I don't think anybody here could have argued, really. I thought we were really, really good.' A tough trip to Llandudno saw Flint Mountain lose out 4-0. Harvey Bennett's strike after a quarter-of-an-hour separated the teams at the interval, while Mark Cadwallader hit a quickfire double in the second half. Callum Stephens added the fourth. Rhyl 1879 returned from Guilsfield having gathered a 3-2 triumph. Morgan Murray, Ben Lawrence and Archie Jones sealed things for the Lilywhites.
