Malcolm Jenkins to be inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame

Malcolm Jenkins is an Eagle through and through, and he'll be remembered forever after the organization announced that he'd be inducted into the Ring of Honor. The team initially invited the former Pro Bowl safety to the team's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday as a photographer to capture the on-field action, a hobby that he has started since retiring from the NFL in 2022. Following practice, Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie invited Jenkins into the NovaCare Complex to personally share that he'll be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame Class of 2025, along with the late Bucko Kilroy. Jenkins and Kilroy will be inducted during the November 28 game against the Chicago Bears. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said this about the announcement: "Malcolm and Bucko are most deserving of our team's highest honor, having played integral roles on the 1948, 1949, and 2017 championship-winning teams," Lurie said in a statement. "Along with seven of his teammates, Bucko is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-Decade Team of the 1940s – an era in which he helped lead the franchise to back-to-back NFL Championships in 1948 and 1949. "A captain on our first Super Bowl-winning team in 2017, Malcolm was a tenacious player who was beloved by his teammates and coaches for the thoughtful leadership and veteran presence he provided. We proudly congratulate both men, along with their families, and look forward to officially inducting them into the Eagles Hall of Fame in November." An authentic Swiss Army Knife, Jenkins started all 96 regular-season games in his six seasons in Philadelphia. In five of those six seasons, Jenkins played 99 percent of the defensive snaps. Jenkins logged 100 or more stops in each of his six seasons, along with 5.5 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries. Jenkins will finish his career with 11 interceptions and 77 pass breakups. This article originally appeared on Eagles Wire: Malcolm Jenkins to be inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame

Eagles to induct Malcolm Jenkins, Bucko Kilroy into team's HOF

August 14 - By Field Level Media The Philadelphia Eagles are honoring a relatively recent standout in Malcolm Jenkins and one of their early greats in the late Bucko Kilroy with their induction into the franchise's hall of fame in November, the team announced on Wednesday. The Class of 2025 will be inducted on Nov. 28 during the game against the Chicago Bears. "It's a huge honor," said Jenkins, 37, a former All-Pro safety who was at the team's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday and didn't know about the announcement. "It's confirmation that what I did meant something and had impact beyond what I did on the field. It was about the people that I interacted with and how those people then changed. It's a great testament not only to me, but to everybody that I had a chance to interact with." New Orleans selected Jenkins in the first round (14th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He played his first five seasons for the Saints (2009-13) and the next six with Philadelphia (2011-13) before returning to New Orleans for his last two years (2020-21). He earned his three Pro Bowl nods with the Eagles (2015, 2017, 2018), and won the Super Bowl with as a Saints rookie in 2009 and with the Eagles in 2017 for the franchise's first Lombardi Trophy. Jenkins totaled 515 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 58 passes defended, 12 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and 11 interceptions -- four returned for touchdowns -- in 96 regular-season games (all starts) with the Eagles. His career totals were 1,044 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 110 passes defended, 20 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries and 21 interceptions (seven returned for scores). The Eagles chose Jenkins as their nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2019. He won the Byron "Whizzer" White Award from the NFLPA in 2017 for his community outreach efforts. Francis Joseph "Bucko" Kilroy was a Philadelphia native who played at Notre Dame and Temple before playing his entire 13-year NFL career with the Eagles from 1943-55. He played in 134 regular-season games (103 starts) on the offensive and defensive line. Kilroy was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-1940s team as well as the Pro Bowl in 1952, 1953 and 1954. Kilroy was a key member of the franchise's first NFL championship in 1948 as well as the second in 1949. Kilroy, who died in 2007 at age 86, continued to impact professional football as an Eagles assistant coach and in player personnel for several teams. He helped found the league's scouting combine and shape the NFL Draft into its modern form. Kilroy spent 64 years in the league, and has been a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a contributor.

Super Bowl champ Malcolm Jenkins to be inducted into Philadelphia Eagles' Hall of Fame

Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl champion safety Malcolm Jenkins will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame in November. On Wednesday, the Eagles announced Jenkins and Bucko Kilroy, a two-way lineman who spent his entire 13-year career in Philadelphia, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2025 when they host the Chicago Bears on Black Friday in November. "Malcolm and Bucko are most deserving of our team's highest honor, having played integral roles on the 1948, 1949, and 2017 championship-winning teams," Jeffrey Lurie, chairman and CEO of the Eagles, said. "Along with seven of his teammates, Bucko is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-Decade Team of the 1940s – an era in which he helped lead the franchise to back-to-back NFL Championships in 1948 and 1949. A captain on our first Super Bowl-winning team in 2017, Malcolm was a tenacious player who was beloved by his teammates and coaches for the thoughtful leadership and veteran presence he provided. We proudly congratulate both men, along with their families, and look forward to officially inducting them into the Eagles Hall of Fame in November." Jenkins, a three-time team captain, played a pivotal role on Philadelphia's defense that brought home the franchise's first Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots. In that win, Jenkins had four tackles, including one that knocked Patriots wide receiver Brandin Cooks out of the game, and one pass deflection. After the Hall of Fame safety Brian Dawkins signed with the Denver Broncos in free agency after the 2008 season, the Eagles sought to replace him, but they didn't fill the void until signing Jenkins in 2014. Jenkins provided stability at the position and played in Philadelphia for six seasons. He was the team's ironman, starting in all 96 regular-season games with the Birds. In five of the six seasons, he was on the field for 99% of the team's defensive snaps. All three of Jenkins' Pro Bowl honors came with the Eagles. He ranks second in franchise history with four interceptions returned for a touchdown, including a 99-yard return against former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. During his time in Philadelphia, Jenkins was also only NFL safety to record 10-plus interceptions and 10-plus forced fumbles. Jenkins is also known for his work off the field, where he was an advocate for police reform, social justice, financial literacy and more. He was the team's Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award honoree in 2019 and the recipient of the NFLPA's Byron "Whizzer" White Award in 2017 for his charity work. Jenkins also spent seven seasons with the New Orleans Saints, including the first five seasons of his career, where he won a Super Bowl in 2010. He earned Second-Team All-Pro honors in his second season with the Saints. Jenkins was in Philadelphia for the team's joint practice Wednesday with the Cleveland Browns, and Lurie surprised him with the news. "I thought we were just catching up. No idea. It caught me off guard, where I was lost for words for a second, which is not usually a thing for me. It's a huge honor," Jenkins told the team's website. Kilroy, who joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 1943, played on both sides of the ball for the Eagles from 1943-55. He was a part of the team's NFL Championship teams in 1948 and 1949. Kilroy is also a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-Decade Team of the 1940s. After retiring, he transitioned to a front office role and worked as a scout and assistant coach for the Eagles. Before the NFL, Kilroy grew up in Port Richmond and attended North Catholic High School in Philly, which closed in 2010. He also played college football at Temple University and is a member of the school's Athletics Hall of Fame. Kilroy died in 2007. He was 86.
