Eagles to induct Malcolm Jenkins, Bucko Kilroy into team's HOF
The Philadelphia Eagles are honoring a relatively recent standout in Malcolm Jenkins and one of their early greats in the late Bucko Kilroy with their induction into the franchise's hall of fame in November, the team announced on Wednesday.
The Class of 2025 will be inducted on Nov. 28 during the game against the Chicago Bears.
"It's a huge honor," said Jenkins, 37, a former All-Pro safety who was at the team's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday and didn't know about the announcement. "It's confirmation that what I did meant something and had impact beyond what I did on the field. It was about the people that I interacted with and how those people then changed. It's a great testament not only to me, but to everybody that I had a chance to interact with."
New Orleans selected Jenkins in the first round (14th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He played his first five seasons for the Saints (2009-13) and the next six with Philadelphia (2011-13) before returning to New Orleans for his last two years (2020-21).
He earned his three Pro Bowl nods with the Eagles (2015, 2017, 2018), and won the Super Bowl with as a Saints rookie in 2009 and with the Eagles in 2017 for the franchise's first Lombardi Trophy.
Jenkins totaled 515 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 58 passes defended, 12 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and 11 interceptions -- four returned for touchdowns -- in 96 regular-season games (all starts) with the Eagles.
His career totals were 1,044 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 110 passes defended, 20 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries and 21 interceptions (seven returned for scores).
The Eagles chose Jenkins as their nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2019. He won the Byron "Whizzer" White Award from the NFLPA in 2017 for his community outreach efforts.
Francis Joseph "Bucko" Kilroy was a Philadelphia native who played at Notre Dame and Temple before playing his entire 13-year NFL career with the Eagles from 1943-55.
He played in 134 regular-season games (103 starts) on the offensive and defensive line. Kilroy was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-1940s team as well as the Pro Bowl in 1952, 1953 and 1954.
Kilroy was a key member of the franchise's first NFL championship in 1948 as well as the second in 1949.
Kilroy, who died in 2007 at age 86, continued to impact professional football as an Eagles assistant coach and in player personnel for several teams. He helped found the league's scouting combine and shape the NFL Draft into its modern form. Kilroy spent 64 years in the league, and has been a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a contributor.

Iga Swiatek tells cameraman to stop filming her as Wimbledon champion removed clothes on court at Cincinnati Open
Iga Swiatek instructed a camera operator to stop filming her as she prepared to change clothes during her Cincinnati Open semi-final with Elena Rybakina. Swiatek earned a straight sets 7-5, 6-3 victory as the Wimbledon champion set up a final against Italy's Jasmine Paolini. The Polish star won four straight games to fight back from 5-3 down to win the opening set of the match after 45 minutes. After battling back, Swiatek walked over to her bench and looked to cool down amid the heat in Cincinnati. Swiatek was seen removing her hat, before she waved and then wagged her finger at a camera operator. The gestures appeared to be a request to be given space and privacy as she prepared to change. Iga Swiatek requested a camera operator step back as she changed on court after the first set The camera was then pulled way from Swiatek, as the world No 3 prepared to removed her top and put on new clothing ahead of the second second. Swiatek would ultimately claim an impressive victory over Rybakina to reach the final of the WTA 1000 event for the first time. The former World No 1 has reached finals in three of her last four tournaments, which included claiming a maiden Wimbledon title. Along with the Cincinnati Open title, Swiatek could receive a major boost for the US Open if she beats Paolini in Monday night's final. Victory would see Swiatek climb above Coco Gauff to second in the world rankings and would be the second seed for the US Open, behind Aryna Sabalenka. The trio have won the women's singles title over the past three years, with Sabalenka winning last year's tournament. Gauff triumphed in 2023, while Swiatek was crowned champion in 2022.

Report: Bobby Webster absorbs Raptors' team president duties
August 18 - The Toronto Raptors are adding president of basketball operations duties onto the plate of general manager Bobby Webster, ESPN reported Monday. Webster will continue to serve as the team's GM as well. Webster, 40, takes over the team's top front office role from Masai Ujiri, who was fired on June 27. Ujiri hired Webster in 2013 as the team's vice president of strategy. A native of Hawaii, Webster was hired by the NBA in 2006 and advised teams on salary cap and luxury tax details. He remained with the league until moving to the Raptors. In June of 2017, Webster was promoted to Raptors general manager in place of Jeff Weltman. He was the NBA's youngest general manager at the time at age 32, and two seasons later, the franchise won its lone NBA title. Toronto has made the playoffs just twice since winning the championship in 2019 and has not advanced to the postseason in any of the past three seasons. The Raptors finished 30-52 last season, slightly better than their 25-57 mark in 2023-24 under head coach Darko Rajakovic. --Field Level Media

Pats say WR Stefon Diggs (ACL) is 'ahead of schedule'
August 18 - New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is "ahead of schedule" in his return from a torn ACL, executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf said Monday. Diggs began training camp last month with no restrictions after receiving medical clearance, but he has yet to appear in a preseason game. "Stefon has done everything we've asked," Wolf said. "He's been attentive in meetings. He's been good on the field. He had two really good practices in Minnesota. He's ahead of schedule, injury-wise." Diggs has been cleared for contact, but Wolf did not say whether the four-time Pro Bowl selection will be active for Thursday's preseason finale against the host New York Giants. Diggs told reporters last week "we'll see" when asked about his availability for the Sept. 7 season opener against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders. Diggs signed a three-year, $63.5 million contract with the Patriots in March. Playing for the Houston Texans last season, he caught 47 passes in eight games before sustaining the season-ending knee injury on Oct. 27 against the Indianapolis Colts. Diggs, 31, has 857 career catches for 10,491 yards and 70 touchdowns in 144 regular-season games (136 starts) with the Minnesota Vikings (2015-19), Buffalo Bills (2020-23) and Texans. He also owns 69 receptions for 909 yards and four touchdowns in 14 postseason games. --Field Level Media
