Pakistan armed forces successfully carried out ‘Bunyanum Marsoos'

ISLAMABAD: In a bold and decisive response to unprovoked Indian military aggression, the Pakistan Armed Forces successfully carried out Operation 'Bunyanum Marsoos' as part of the larger military conflict codenamed Marka-e-Haq. The operation, conducted on 10 May 2025, was launched after Indian forces initiated attacks during the night of 6 and 7 May, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent civilian lives, including women, children, and the elderly. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan had vowed retribution for the brutal attacks — a promise that the nation's armed forces have now fulfilled with precision and restraint. 'The Pakistan Armed Forces thank Almighty Allah for His divine support and mercy, which enabled us to translate our resolve into decisive action on the battlefield,' the statement read. Precision Strikes, Measured Response Operation Bunyanum Marsoos involved coordinated, multi-domain operations across air, land, sea, cyber, and space. Utilising long-range precision munitions, advanced loitering drones, and the Army's Fatah F1 and F2 missile series, Pakistan successfully targeted 26 high-value military facilities and command centers inside Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and mainland India. Targets included Indian airbases at Suratgarh, Sirsa, Bhuj, Adampur, Srinagar, Jammu, and Pathankot; BrahMos missile storage sites in Beas and Nagrota; S-400 air defence batteries at Adampur and Bhuj; and various military logistics and intelligence installations responsible for instigating violence against Pakistani civilians. Across the Line of Control (LoC), enemy posts, artillery positions, and headquarters involved in unprovoked firing on Azad Jammu and Kashmir were heavily damaged, with Indian units reportedly raising white flags and calling for restraint. Cyber Front and UAV Superiority ISPR revealed that the operation also featured advanced cyber offensives to disrupt Indian military communication and logistics networks. Dozens of armed Pakistani drones flew over major Indian cities, including New Delhi, demonstrating Pakistan's long-range unmanned aerial capabilities. Western Front and Counter-Terrorism While engaged on the eastern front, Pakistan simultaneously faced a surge in Indian-sponsored terrorist activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Despite this, the armed forces conducted swift and effective counter-terror operations in the western region, proving their operational readiness on multiple fronts. Acknowledgments and National Unity ISPR extended heartfelt gratitude to the brave soldiers, airmen, and sailors who contributed to the success of the operation. Special appreciation was given to the youth of Pakistan for playing a frontline role in the information domain, and to the national media for resisting Indian disinformation campaigns. The Armed Forces also thanked the diplomatic corps, political leadership, and Prime Minister of Pakistan for their unified stance, strategic decisions, and support during the crisis. Pakistani scientists and engineers were commended for their role in developing indigenous defence technologies that proved vital in the operation's success. A Message to the World Despite the scale of the offensive, ISPR emphasised that Pakistan's response was 'precise, proportionate, and restrained,' targeting only those responsible for atrocities against Pakistani civilians. 'Let no one doubt that any violation of Pakistan's sovereignty will be met with a comprehensive and decisive response,' the statement concluded. 'They plan and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners.' — Surah Al-Anfal. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

No hostile design can shake forces' resolve: COAS

COAS General Syed Asim Munir enquires after the well-being of a soldier at the Combined Military Hospital in Rawalpindi. Photo: APP Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir said on Monday that no hostile design could undermine the determination of the Pakistan Armed Forces, as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared May 10 as a national day to be observed annually as 'Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq'. Marka-e-Haq refers to the broader conflict with India from April 22 to May 10, while 'Bunyanum Marsoos' is the name given to the operation on May 10, during which Pakistan vowed justice and retribution. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the army chief visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Rawalpindi to inquire about the well-being of soldiers and civilians injured during Marka e Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. Gen Asim Munir emphasized that no hostile design could erode the resolve of the armed forces. "The valour and sacrifice of our civilians and soldiers are the cornerstone of Pakistan's security. The entire nation stands united in solidarity with every member of its Armed Forces," he said. The army chief noted that the resolute and unified response exhibited during Marka e Haq/Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, "in concert with the steadfast support of the Pakistani people, constitutes a defining chapter in the country's military history," the ISPR added. During the visit to the CMH, the army chief individually met with the injured personnel, lauded their exceptional bravery and steadfast devotion to duty, and reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Pakistan Armed Forces to their continued care, rehabilitation, and welfare. According to the ISPR, with the successful conclusion of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, the military campaign Marka-e-Haq, of which the operation was an integral part, also came to a victorious end. Through this operation, the armed forces delivered on the promise made to the people of Pakistan. To mark the victory, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the nation would observe Friday, May 16, 2025, as the 'National Day of Gratitude' with special prayers and bowing down our heads before Almighty Allah. The prime minister also announced that May 10 would be observed as Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq [Day of the Battle for Truth] every year to commemorate the country's resounding success in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos against India. "Our brave armed forces have elevated the nation's pride with their professionalism," Shehbaz said, urging citizens to pray for continued national unity and progress. He also unveiled substantial financial compensation packages for both civilians and military personnel affected during Marka-e-Haq. In a major policy announcement, Shehbaz said that families of civilians martyred during the operation would receive Rs10 million each, while injured civilians would be granted between Rs1 million and Rs2 million each, depending on the severity of injuries. For the martyred military personnel, the government would provide Rs10 million to Rs18 million to families, based on rank. Additionally, based on rank, Rs19 million to Rs42 million would be given as housing assistance to the martyrs' families. Families of the martyrs would continue to receive full salary and allowances until their scheduled retirement date; besides the children of the martyred soldiers would be entitled to free education up to graduation, and one daughter of each martyr would receive Rs1 million marriage grant. The prime minister said that the military personnel injured during the operation would receive between Rs2 million and Rs5 million each. He further announced that the federal government would bear the expenses of the treatment for all the wounded individuals, both civilian and military. In addition to individual support, Shehbaz said, the government will also undertake the reconstruction of all homes and mosques damaged or destroyed in the Indian strikes. "The responsibility of supporting the children of martyrs lies with the government, Shehbaz said. "We will fulfil this duty." Shehbaz also announced that all individuals who rendered services in the country's defence during the operation—regardless of rank or role—will be officially recognised at the national level and honoured with awards. Pakistan Navy's effective strategy kept INS Vikrant confined to India's territorial waters

Listen to article The Indian Navy's aircraft carrier INS Vikrant was prevented from any maritime adventurism against Pakistan in the North Arabian Sea due to the well-coordinated strategy of the Pakistan Navy during the recent hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, officials with the Pakistan Navy told The Express Tribune. The Pakistani military launched a massive operation codenamed 'Bunyanum Marsoos' (Formidable Wall) in response to the Indian aggression, targeting their airbases, airfields, weapon depots, missile stockpiles, brigade headquarters, etc. Like the other two services, the Pakistan Navy also played a key role in this swift operation. The Indian Navy remained confined to its own territorial waters and did not dare to challenge the Pakistan Navy in the south, according to the officials. Throughout the entire period of tension, the Indian Navy could not advance any of its warships or aircraft towards Pakistan due to the strict surveillance and constant presence of the Pakistan Navy, one official added. 'As a result of this strong strategic posture, the Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikrant posed no threat to Pakistan and avoided any kind of maritime operation.' The Pakistan Navy's presence in the south and its comprehensive strategy allowed the armed forces in the north and northeast to achieve their objectives, the official added. 'Not only did the Pakistan Navy restrict the Indian Navy to its own waters, but it also ensured the safety of Pakistan's maritime trade routes and coastal regions.' The Indian Navy admitted that it didn't participate in the 'Operation Sindoor' which their military had launched. Director General of Naval Operations Vice Admiral AN Pramod said that the Indian Navy was prepared but kept waiting for the instructions from the government. However, a Pakistan Navy official said that the uninterrupted operation of Pakistan's three ports — Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and Gwadar Port — throughout the hostilities stands as clear evidence of our effective strategy. 'The Indian Navy faced humiliation as it had been confined to its territorial waters by a much smaller adversary throughout the tension,' he added. 'The credit goes to the leadership, officers, and sailors of the Pakistan Navy who successfully safeguarded Pakistan's maritime frontiers and denied the enemy any opportunity for aggression.' Pakistan-India ceasefire Pakistan and India agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire on Saturday following days of intense military exchanges that raised fears of a full-scale conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. The announcement was first made by US President Donald Trump and later confirmed by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The ceasefire came after missile strikes, drone incursions, and retaliatory operations across the border. Tensions flared after a deadly April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), that left 26 civilians dead. India blamed Pakistan-based elements without providing evidence; Islamabad strongly rejected the claim. India responded by closing the Wagah border, revoking Pakistani visas, and suspending the Indus Waters Treaty—moves Pakistan labelled as an 'act of war.' By May 6–7, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, downing five Indian jets, including Rafales, and intercepted 77 Israeli-origin Harop drones. The US played a central role in facilitating backchannel diplomacy. Secretary Rubio and Vice President JD Vance held talks with senior leaders from both countries, including PMs Shehbaz Sharif and Narendra Modi, as well as top defence and intelligence officials. Following Trump's announcement, both countries suspended military activity across land, air, and sea, though allegations of ceasefire breach were also reported from both sides of the Line of Control.
