Michael B Jordan And Ryan Coogler's BTS Relationship Created A "Spiritual" Vibe On "Sinners" Set

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Sinners. Music, madness and Michael B Jordan are just a few things you can expect from Ryan Coogler's historical-horror Sinners. Instagram: @sinnersmovie Hitting critic screens with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating, everyone's expecting big things from this film and they should. Coogler's story isn't just about vampires and jumpscares, it unpacks the reality of 1930s Mississipi, grief, tradition and how music moves generations, even unlocking evil. It's consistent with Ryan's filmmaking MO — Michael B Jordan, a mean and moving soundtrack and action that gets you amped up. While twin characters Smoke and Stack (both played by Michael) drive the story, the cast overall sells the strong sense of family and community — even when they're on opposing sides. In speaking to Sinners' Omar Benson Miller, Li Jun Li and Delroy Lindo ahead of its cinematic release, we learned that the familial dynamic came naturally. Michael B Jordan and Ryan Coogler's pre-established relationship was its foundation. Here's what Li Jun, Delroy and Omar told BuzzFeed Australia about their bond and the challenges faced as a family: BFOZ: We've heard a lot from your other castmates, Wunmi, Michael and Hailee about how the Sinners team created family on set. The connection comes through so strongly on screen, how did you foster that on set? Delroy Lindo: One doesn't create it. It's either there or it's not. It happened organically, in other words. It was very genuine. It happened over the course of our working together. I want to believe that on any job, one has a professional regard for one's colleagues, but in terms the friendships, the connections that evolved with this group, it was entirely organic. Gareth Cattermole /Omar Benson Miller: And that tone was set by Ryan and Michael B, to be honest, because they already had the rapport and they extended that to all of us who then in turn, like Del said, vibed on a spirtual level. We all vibe together, which put us all together on a professional level as well. BFOZ: Having worked together before this on Black Panther, Creed and more, did Michael and Ryan's relationship ever make you feel left out? Delroy Lindo: Never. Never at all. Not for one nanosecond. Never, ever, ever. That's not who they are. Omar Benson Miller: Once you were cast, you were in. Li Jun Li: Ryan went out of his way to make sure that we were treated exactly the same way. It was really a very special experience. Omar: Very Egalitarian. BFOZ: During your time on the Sinners set, were there ever any hardships, like difficult-to-shoot scenes, that you needed to overcome as a cast (or, individually)? Delroy Lindo: For me the singing [was] — not hard — more challenging. Singing and the playing of the piano. Now the irony of my saying that, is that those scenes are not in the film, ultimately. And I had a long discussion with Ryan about why they're not in the film, but in terms of the making of the work, those scenes were very challenging for me. Because Delta is a musician and not just any old musician, he's a gifted supreme musician, extremely well respected in this community, and I wanted that to come across authentically. So that was challenging. That was challenging for me. Li Jun Li: For me, I think it was just some of the environment factors — the heat, the bugs that we were dealing with, and some of the bigger scenes because of the sheer volume of the cast involved. [There were] technicalities and challenges trying to get everyone's coverage and the choreography of moving the cameras, especially through that large montage scene, which is stitched together as a oner. I felt like those days were pretty tough. Omar Benson Miller: One of the hardest parts to shoot on this film, most challenging rather, was at the end for those of us who had turned, which in this case is just me. When Rennick (Jack O'Connell) gets hit with the guitar and we all get hit in the head, we were fighting the light, so we had to get stuff right. There was quite a few scenes where we were fighting the light. Also, when he does the Rocky Road to Dublin and we're doing the dance in the circle, that all had to be done within a very short window because the sun was coming up. And so with the former, we get hit in the head, we all go down, and when we're crawling on the ground, the ground is full of bugs and chiggers. The light is coming up, they're rushing to try to get the shot. Omar: There was a lot that went into play, so really we're shooting overnight. It's super hot and you want to bring your A-game because we all wanted to perform for each other and for Ryan who trusted us with his material.

The New F1 Movie Used Real Race Cars — And That's Just The Beginning Of Its Insane Realism

It feels like we've seen a heap of trailers for the new F1 movie — starring Brad Pitt, Damson Idris and Simone Ashley — or we could just be confusing it for the actual Grand Prix happening in Melbourne. Either way, we're here to tell you that the OFFICIAL trailer is finally here! Take a look: From the Brad Pitt and Damson Idris team up, to the epic racing scenes, it looks like fans will need to buckle up for an adrenaline rush. Ahead of the trailer drop worldwide, BuzzFeed Australia got the inside scoop at an exclusive event with director Joseph Kosinski. He spilled behind-the-scenes secrets — from the tech used in the film to how Brad Pitt's natural driving skills surprised everyone. Kosinski is no stranger to creating high-speed, heart-pounding cinematic experiences. From the futuristic light cycles of Tron: Legacy to the thunderous jets of Top Gun: Maverick, Kosinski has proven time and again that he has a "need for speed". When asked about how he recreated the high speed and intense nature of the sport, the F1 director mentioned reaching out to Lewis Hamilton, who connected him with Toto Wolff — the team principal of Mercedes. "I started talking with them about wanting to capture the speed of this sport, and it was actually Toto who came up with the idea of, rather than making a movie car fast enough to achieve these speeds, he said, 'Why don't you start with a race car and take a real race car and then work the cameras that you need into that." So that's what Kosinki did. The F1 production team purchased six real race cars "and worked with Mercedes AMG, the Formula One team and their engineers to build real race cars that could carry our camera equipment, recorders and transmitters" to create ✨authenticity✨. But it wasn't just the cars, the actors immersed themselves in the reality of the sport too. "Every time you see Brad or Damson driving in this movie, they're driving on their own in one of these real race cars on a real F1 track. That's how we approached the making of this film." The reactions to the trailer are already rolling in, and despite the failed search for glimpses of Lando Norris and Simone Ashley, one thing's for absolute certain — F1 is going to get our hearts racing. F1 trailer is absolutely fantastic. I'm a big fan of the way Kosinski has shot the racing scenes, Brad Pitt looks amazing, and I'm excited to see the dynamic Damson Idris. — Sumeet (@sumeet_ssb123) March 13, 2025 Twitter: @sumeet_ssb123 there was no lando cameo in the new f1 trailer — ray (@ln4norris) March 13, 2025 Twitter: @ln4norris where is simone ashley — َ (@lecl87rc) March 13, 2025 Twitter: @lecl87rc

Keke Palmer Admits She Hasn't Seen Megan Thee Stallion Since Viral Met Gala Moment

One thing you cannot deny is Keke Palmer's ability to entertain. She's a comedian, host, singer and queen of memes all rolled into one — and she's been doing it for decades. Now, she's teamed up with another one of the world's favourite personalities, SZA, for blockbuster comedy One Of Them Days. Sony Pictures / Via Fresh from her NAACP Image Awards' "Entertainer of the Year" win, and ahead of the films release Down Under, Keke sat down with BuzzFeed Australia to chat about an absolutely hectic award season and the importance of "satirising" real life. Here's everything she had to say: BFOZ: How are you feeling after this award season? Keke: Good grief. It's definitely a journey. I'm glad that it's over, but boy did I have a ball. BFOZ: Let's throw it back to your recent NAACP Image Awards speech — you've been described as having big Whitney Houston energy and you're often compared to Angela Bassett. Do the comparisons ever put pressure on you to act a certain way? View this video on YouTube BFOZ: Across this entire awards season, did you meet anyone that you didn't expect to meet (or make any new best friends along the way)? Keke: I'm always surprised by who I meet whenever I'm out and about. And I don't know that I can say any specific names in particular. [I'm] working, working, working. So whenever you get an opportunity to get out and be amongst your peers, it's always exciting, because you can say, "Oh my gosh, really respect you, and it's great to meet you. And I'm such a big fan." I know when I was at SNL50, so many people that I wouldn't have even expected to see One Of Them Days were telling me they saw it and they loved the movie — from Adam Sandler to Kevin Bacon. You know what I mean? It was so many different people that I was like, "Oh my gosh, that's the coolest thing ever." These are people that I grew up being fans of, and [I'm] still fans of to this day. It was awesome meeting Dave Chappelle and being there at the NAACP Awards with him, and he was awesome. And it's cool again, when people have seen or enjoyed your work 'cause that's why you have it there. That's why you do what you do. BFOZ: In One Of Them Days, it seemed like there was so much magic behind the scenes with you and SZA, and of course, Issa Rae on the job too — what was the most chaotic moment from your time on set? Keke: I mean, the whole time was chaotic because we had to film it so quickly. So while it was enjoyable and very fun, it was like, okay, we're running out of time. Every day we were beating a clock, so that was the most chaotic aspect of it — trying to get the movie finished. BFOZ: Why do you think One Of Them Days has been so well received? Keke: You know everything's about timing. Obviously, I think that the movie — people [are] responding to — 'cause it's good. Obviously that's subjective, but it's good to me. I know I enjoyed filming it, and I enjoyed watching it, but I think also it's timing. We're in such a particular space and time right now, and I think it feels good. And that's what we need. There's a lot of stuff happening in the world and it's stressful, high stakes, and I think artists [are] either supposed to show you what you don't need to see or give you what you don't know you need. And I think One Of Them Days — we're all having sometimes, one of them days. And to see a movie where these girls are getting through it and we're kind of satirising — if that's a word — or making it satirical, these real life experiences that we're all going through. I think it kind of takes some of the power out of the weight they can put on our lives. BFOZ: More on your iconic career, you've had so many moments (or things you've said) go viral, unexpectedly. If you could've chosen any other moments in your life to go viral, which one would it be? Keke: Man, I don't know. I've never had a moment that I said, "This needs to go viral", unless I was getting into a look and I'm like, "Get into this look". You know what I mean? Or something like that. I loved the moment at the Met Gala when the guy put the music to the "Oh, oh, oh oh, I know it ain't, I know it ain't [Thee Stallion]". I thought it was cool because, yeah, I just thought it was a very random thing that the world or my audience — or whoever you would attribute that to, the community, made into a thing. And that was a fun one. ICYMI, and need a refresher, here's the video: @ Reply to @thatyeastt Absolutely! #fyp #piano #harmony #jazz #musiciansoftiktok #comedy ♬ KeyKey Palmer - Tejas C TikTok @ / Via BFOZ: Have you seen Megan [Thee Stallion] since, and used that mini song with her? Keke: Well, I feel like I literally haven't seen her since. Isn't that crazy? I feel like she and I are never in the same place, at the same time since that moment! BFOZ: We're going to have to get you guys in the same room so that you can recreate another moment that we can all adore and appreciate. Keke: Gosh, yes. BFOZ: And finally, what's coming next for you? Is there any character or project that you want to revisit or bring back to life? Keke: That's hard. I'm one of those people that's like, look, if it's been done, let it be done by somebody else. As much as I love a good revisit to an IP — I think sometimes it's like, okay, wait a minute. You know what I mean? But I have often spoken about another Sister Act, because I loved it. And I think that that's one that could be revisited in a new way, that doesn't feel like it could pick up where it left off kind of thing — and be a voice to another generation, which could be cool. So yeah, maybe that one. BFOZ: And which character would you play? Keke: A new character! I'm a new nun coming in, or I'm daughter to Whoopi, something like this! Want to see more of Keke Palmer? Get your butt in a seat — One Of Them Days is in HOYTS Cinemas from March 6.
