MACC questions 23 in probe into police C4i system contract
SHAH ALAM, April 29 — A total of 23 people have had their statements recorded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as part of its probe into a RM15 million contract for the maintenance of the police's Command and Control, Communication and Computer Integration (C4i) system. Citing an anonymous source, Sinar Harian reported that RM7.6 million in accounts linked to the investigation has been frozen so far. 'So far, there have been no new arrests and the case is still under investigation,' the source reportedly said today. MACC Special Operations Division senior director Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin was said to have separately confirmed that the case is still under active investigation. Last week, a company director, chief financial officer, two police officers and two others — aged between their 30s and 50s — were remanded for allegedly making false claims tied to the contract, followed by the arrest of a seventh suspect, a 54-year-old policeman, last Friday. The Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department reportedly conducted financial audits of the C4i contract last year and uncovered irregular payments made to a company, which were then referred to the MACC for further investigation.

KUALA LUMPUR: Another police officer has been detained in an ongoing investigation by graft busters into a false claim of RM15mil involving the Command & Control, Communication & Computer Integration (C4i) system procurement contract. This brings the total of those detained in the case to seven individuals. The C4i system is aimed at strengthening policing by improving the monitoring, communication and coordination within the police force with the goal to reduce crimes. Sources said the 54-year-old male suspect, who holds the rank of superintendent, was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Friday. 'He is believed to have accepted bribes from contractors and subcontractors for the procurement of a service contract to maintain the C4i system,' a source said. The man has since been remanded for seven days. MACC officers conducted searches at his office and home in Semenyih, seizing documents that showed he received bribes from the contractors, sources said. 'So far, the MACC has frozen and seized RM7.6mil in funds and assets,' they said, adding that MACC recorded the statements of 15 witnesses and detainees. Previously, six people, including a company director, a chief financial officer and two police officers with the ranks of superintendent and inspector were detained over the same case. Sources said the suspects – five men and a woman aged between 30 and 60 – were detained in an operation codenamed Ops C4i at about 8pm on Wednesday after their statements were recorded at the MACC headquarters. 'Initial investigation indicated that all suspects were believed to have committed the offence between 2022 and 2025. 'They had conspired to make a false claim worth RM15mil, but some of the work did not meet the requirements of the contract,' they added. A source said the Home Ministry had granted the project, which has an overall worth of RM70mil, to the police force.

KUALA LUMPUR: A police officer with the rank of superintendent has been remanded for seven days in connection with the investigation into a false claim worth RM15mil over the Command & Control, Communication & Computer Integration (C4i) system procurement contract. He is the latest to be nabbed in the ongoing investigation over the false claims. Sources said the 54-year-old male officer was remanded for seven days from Saturday (April 26). "He was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Friday (April 25). "He is believed to have accepted bribes from contractors and subcontractors for the procurement of a service contract to maintain the C4i system," sources said. MACC officers have also conducted searches at the officer's office and home in Semenyih to seize any relevant documents that showed he received bribes from the contractors, sources said. "So far, the MACC has frozen and seized RM7.6mil in funds and assets. "They have also recorded the statements of 15 individuals consisting of witnesses and detainees," sources said. Previously, six people, including a company director, a chief financial officer and two police officers were detained in the same case. Another police officer detained over RM15mil C4i maintenance contract probe
KUALA LUMPUR: Another police officer, with the rank of Superintendent, has been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist in investigations into a RM15 million contract for the maintenance of the Command, Control, Communication & Computer Integration (C4i) system. Sources said the officer was arrested on suspicion of receiving bribes from contractors and subcontractors involved in the project. "Searches were also conducted at the suspect's office and residence in Semenyih, Selangor, in efforts to uncover documents related to the alleged bribe payments. "So far, a total of RM7.6 million in bank accounts has been frozen, while 15 statements have been recorded from both witnesses and the suspect," the source added. MACC Special Operations senior director Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin confirmed the arrest when contacted and said a remand application would be submitted at the Putrajaya magistrate's court tomorrow. Yesterday, six individuals, including a company director, a chief financial officer and two police officers, were arrested in connection with allegedly submitting false claims related to the same contract. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had said initial investigations were conducted internally when a review of the C4i contract revealed He said yesterday that the investigation found that there was an improper payment to the company involved and the MACC was informed in order to facilitate an investigation. A seven-day remand order until April 30, was granted by magistrate Muhammad Fadzlan Mohd Noor at the Putrajaya magistrate's court yesterday.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the two officers, with the rank of Superintendent and Inspector, have been remanded for seven days beginning yesterday. The Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department has also initiated financial audits into the C4i contract last year and found improper payments to a company before reporting it to the MACC for further action, he added. 'Whatever corruption related offences we (PDRM) find in investigations, we will work with the MACC, including this case,' he said when contacted yesterday.
