Is C8 Corvette ZR1 Production Finally About to Start Next Month?

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is, understandably, one of the most anticipated American cars of the last few decades. That anticipation has only grown more intense with every passing month since the car debuted last July, but things appear to be making a turn for the best: posters on the Mid-Engine Corvette forum say dealers are finally starting to see cars be accepted for production by GM, with May as the current target for the start of production. If so, it would mark a welcome end to a bit of confusion over when the C8 ZR1 will finally be heading towards owners' hands. Late last month, a number of Mid-Engine Corvette Forum users took to that site to state that their ZR1 orders had been changed to GM's Status 3000 in the ordering system, which means it has been accepted for production. Some buyers then received notices that availability for RPO T0M, the Carbon Fiber Aero Package, was limited. This understandably led to a lot of frustration, as the high wing is required to extract the maximum performance out of the car on track. (When you have a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine making 1064 hp on deck, the desire for that added capability is understandable.) Those cars were then kicked back down to a lower order status, with General Motors telling Road & Track that the initial Status 3000 push was an internal mixup. But as of Wednesday, as CorvetteBlogger brought to broader attention, dealers are now reporting that ZR1 orders are being accepted for production again, with a "Target Production Week" in early May. R&T hasn't able to verify that timeline, with a GM spokesperson only stating that the cars are still on track for the second quarter of this year. A number of forum members have also confirmed their orders with the high wing have now been moved back to the higher production status, which suggests GM was able to get a handle on the supply issue for the high wings. Given that this has been a recurring problem with every variant of the C8 thus far, that's certainly a step in the right direction. C7 Corvette ZR1s Command High Prices

Read the full story on The Auto Wire Even though the C7 Corvette ZR1s came out for the 2019 model year, with the C8 ZR1 about to launch the older cars are still commanding high prices. That might be surprising considering they're old news and conventional wisdom states the previous generation of a vehicle diminishes in value when the next one debuts, but ZR1s are anything but a quick search on Facebook Marketplace pulls up for us quite a few healthily priced 2019 Corvette ZR1 listings. One out of Carefree, Arizona has just 16,000 miles and is listed for $149,900. Another in Phoenix with 12,000 miles has a price at $168,000. It's more of the same on eBay, with one sitting just below 17,000 miles listed at $129,900. A convertible 3ZR with the ZTK Track Package and just over 5,000 miles sits at $179,800. Where you find the really cherry C7 ZR1 cars is on Bring A Trailer. One auctioned off on January 9 for $270,000. It had just 821 miles on the clock, plus was a 3ZR with the ZTK option. But that's no a fluke, with a convertible 3ZR with the ZTK package and 2,700 miles selling on February 13 for $252,000. That's some serious cash. Keep in mind MSRP for the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Coupe was $122,095. Yes, some dealers charged a premium for what's arguably a front-engined supercar, but it's amazing to see where prices are now. Even after all these years and with a new ZR1 coming out, the C7s have held their value remarkably well. That's likely thanks in part to the range-topping version of America's sports car being produced for a single model year, with total units capped at a mere 2,953. After all, scarcity breeds value. That's almost half the number of C6 ZR1s and well under half of the C5 ZR1s made. Image via Gary C. New Chevy Corvette ZR1 Can't Stop Breaking Records

Read the full story on Modern Car Collector Chevrolet's upcoming C8 Corvette ZR1 has raised the performance bar yet again, setting lap records at five different race tracks across the United States. The supercharged sports car, the most powerful Corvette ever built, continues to redefine American performance standards. The automaker confirmed that a pre-production ZR1, equipped with the ZTK Performance Package, conquered top-tier circuits with new record times, showcasing its blistering speed and precision engineering. Four Chevrolet engineers piloted the vehicle across the five courses, each securing a new fastest lap. Bill Wise, Chevy's lead performance engineer, kicked off the record spree at Watkins Glen International in New York, where he completed the long course in 1:52.6. Brian Wallace, lead vehicle dynamics engineer, followed with a 2:08.6 run at Wisconsin's Road America. Development engineer Chris Barber then made headlines with a 1:22.8 lap at Road Atlanta. The final two records were set by global vehicle performance manager Aaron Link, who conquered Virginia International Raceway's full course in 1:47.7 and the grand course in 2:32.3. 'We knew the car had the capability, but breaking these records confirmed just how far we've pushed the C8 ZR1,' Barber said. 'It wasn't just about beating the times—it was about obliterating them.' Powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged flat-plane-crank V-8, the ZR1 boasts an astounding 1,064 horsepower and a top speed of 233 mph, making it the fastest production Corvette ever. The ZTK package further enhances performance with a high-downforce rear wing and advanced aerodynamic elements. Production of the C8 ZR1 is set to begin this spring, with deliveries expected later this year. The model will start at $174,995, cementing its place as a premier supercar contender.
