Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa empowers 113 informal traders in Ekurhuleni through Township Economy Revitalisation Programme
Customer with City of Ekurhuleni for Development Planning & Real Estate, MMC Nomadlozi Nkosi, City of Ekurhuleni for Development Planning & Real Estate, HOD Caiphus Chauke, CCBSA, Nomvuyo Mohami, District Manager, Gauteng Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA), in partnership with the City of Ekurhuleni's Department of Development Planning and Real Estate, hosted a certification and equipment handover ceremony in June. The event recognised 113 informal traders who have successfully completed enterprise development training under the Township Economy Revitalisation Programme. The training programme, delivered by the City of Ekurhuleni, focused on critical areas such as customer service, financial management, and business operations. This initiative has helped enhance the traders' business acumen, professionalism, and financial literacy. Each of the 104 qualifying traders received essential Coca-Cola-branded business equipment, including a trolley, umbrella, and uniform. The total investment from CCBSA amounted to R936 000. Beneficiaries have also been connected to dedicated CCBSA distributors, ensuring access to stock, delivery, and ongoing supply chain support. CCBSA's involvement in the Township Economy Revitalisation Programme is part of a strategic approach to drive inclusive economic growth and uplift informal traders. 'Our involvement in this programme reflects our commitment to uplifting informal traders and build stronger, more resilient local economies,' said Michael Tsholo, Commercial general Manager of CCBSA in Gauteng. 'By equipping informal traders with skills and tools, we're not just enabling commerce but supporting the future of Ekurhuleni's communities.'
