Hourglass District townhome project gets timeline as part of $170M investment

An anticipated residential project in a trendy Orlando neighborhood has a timeline. ▶ WATCH CHANNEL 9 EYEWITNESS NEWS Earthwork and ground preparation for 36 townhomes at Clark and Raehn Streets in the Hourglass District will begin in July, with construction planned for December, according to developer Giovanni Fernandez, co-founder and broker at Orlando-based National Real Estate LLC. The townhomes to be built just north of Curry Ford Road are just one part of the $170 million investment Fernandez said he will be making over the next four years in the popular district, which he is credited with naming. Food distribution company to cut Florida jobs, shutter Orlando warehouse

A Detroit-based food distributor is closing two locations in Florida and laying off employees, including in Orlando. ▶ WATCH CHANNEL 9 EYEWITNESS NEWS Harvest Sherwood Food Distributors LLC, in a Feb. 18 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter, said it would be shutting down operations at its 150,000-square-foot center at 12345 NW 38th Ave. in Opa-locka and its 45,000-square-foot space at 901 Eunice Ave. in Orlando. Cocoa police search for hit-and-run driver who crashed into woman on e-bike
Police in Cocoa are searching for a hit-and-run driver who injured a woman. ▶ WATCH CHANNEL 9 EYEWITNESS NEWS Officers said the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 6 at the intersection of SR-520 and Washington Avenue. Investigators said a woman was on an e-bike in the bike lane on SR-520 when she was struck by a silver Dodge Caravan. Police said the driver pulled into a nearby Dunkin' Donuts parking lot to check for damage before fleeing the scene. Officers believe the Dodge Caravan was a 2008 to 2012 model. The woman suffered a broken wrist and was taken to a hospital. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Cocoa Police Department at 321-639-7621. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Monday morning for the first Hooters location in the Villages. ▶ WATCH CHANNEL 9 EYEWITNESS NEWS The founders of the Hooters concept held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction. The restaurant will be located at the Lake Deaton Plaza in The Villages. The opening of the restaurant is planned for early summer 2025.
