Sino Innovation Lab and MASSPHOTON Collaborate to Enhance Air Quality at China Hong Kong City with Advanced UVC LED Sterilization
HONG KONG, June 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- MASSPHOTON LIMITED, a global leader in gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor devices and digital disinfection technologies, has successfully partnered with Sino Inno Lab to complete the deployment of its advanced NitroSteriX™ digital air sterilization system at China Hong Kong City (CHKC). Operated by Sino Group and situated in the bustling Tsim Sha Tsui district, CHKC now benefits from significantly enhanced indoor air quality, setting a benchmark for healthier commercial environments in Hong Kong. Recognized as a vibrant commercial landmark hosting tens of thousands of visitors daily, CHKC proactively sought advanced air quality solutions to ensure visitor comfort, health, and safety, particularly in high-traffic public spaces. Traditional air purification methods were insufficient for handling the complex air quality challenges posed by commercial environments, driving CHKC and Sino Inno Lab to join forces with MASSPHOTON for a next-generation solution. MASSPHOTON deployed its latest ceiling-mounted UVC-LED air sterilizers, specifically models Q6060B1 and Q6060D, which feature the company's proprietary NitroSteriX™ digital disinfection technology. This innovative approach represents a notable shift from passive filtration and disinfection methods towards proactive, digitally managed sterilization. NitroSteriX™ uniquely employs high-performance semiconductor-based ultraviolet-C (UVC) LEDs, combined with advanced optical designs and IoT (Internet of Things)-driven intelligent controls, ensuring highly effective, eco-friendly, and ozone-free sterilization, enabling continuous human-machine coexistence without interruption. Extensive air quality monitoring demonstrated immediate and impressive improvements post-installation. Within just 24 hours, formaldehyde (HCHO) concentrations in critical areas dropped substantially—from 1060 μg/m³ to as low as 40 μg/m³, approximately a 96% reduction. Similarly, total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) decreased notably from 1090 μg/m³ to approximately 190 μg/m³, representing an 83% reduction. Despite the inherently dynamic and challenging environment of commercial spaces, the system consistently maintained PM2.5, HCHO, and TVOC concentrations at remarkably low levels, underscoring its reliability and effectiveness. These outcomes surpass the most stringent professional air quality standards, demonstrating the system's exceptional capability to achieve and sustain premium indoor air quality. Dr. Eason Liao, CEO of MASSPHOTON, stated, "The successful implementation at China Hong Kong City illustrates how cutting-edge digital disinfection transforms indoor air quality management. Our proprietary NitroSteriX™ technology, integrated with intelligent IoT-driven monitoring, significantly enhances operational efficiency while providing occupants with a consistently safe and comfortable environment." Ms Melanie Kwok, Deputy General Manager, Sustainability and Innovation at Sino Group, added, "At Sino Inno Lab, we are constantly exploring innovations that can elevate building performance and promote wellbeing. MASSPHOTON's UVC-LED air disinfection solution aligns with our mission to test and adopt smart, sustainable technologies that bring tangible value to our properties and the communities they serve. The successful deployment at China Hong Kong City reflects the potential of collaborative innovation in shaping healthier, future-ready spaces." MASSPHOTON's IoT management platform, an integral component of the system, empowers facility managers with comprehensive remote monitoring capabilities. Real-time analytics covering device status, air quality indicators, consumable lifespan, and system performance are accessible through user-friendly mobile and desktop interfaces, streamlining maintenance processes, reducing operational costs, and enabling dynamic, centralized management across multiple facilities. The deployment at China Hong Kong City not only raises the standard for commercial air quality management but also exemplifies MASSPHOTON's dedication to fostering healthier public spaces through innovative semiconductor solutions and continuous technological advancement. Simon Willis quits as Hong Kong cricket head coach days after side's T20 failure
Simon Willis has resigned as head coach of the men's Hong Kong cricket team, days after his side failed to make the final of their home T20 quadrangular series. Advertisement It was the latest in a string of disappointing performances from a side that has lost ground on its Asian rivals over the past year, struggling to beat the likes of Qatar and Kuwait on several occasions. In a statement released on Wednesday, the Englishman said he was leaving to pursue new challenges, but the 51-year-old's future had been in doubt for some time, and sources said the search for a replacement was likely to start as soon as possible. Still, just four days ago, Willis was discussing how Hong Kong could move forward, even while raising concerns over his team's commitment and focus. Wishing Willis 'all the best in his future endeavours', the cricketing body said the coach had achieved significant milestones since he was appointed in March 2023, which had culminated in qualification for the T20 Asia Cup in India later this year. Simon Willis had been in charge for two years. Photo: Facebook/Simon Willis 'Under Simon's leadership, a larger pool of players has been identified and developed through a clear and aligned men's talent pathway to the international game, marking a substantial advancement for the team,' the CHKC statement said.

After successful comeback last year, Hong Kong Cricket Sixes to be held again in October
After labelling last year's comeback event 'the best Sixes ever held', Cricket Hong Kong China (CHKC) has announced that the next Hong Kong Cricket Sixes will be held from October 31 to November 2 this year, and will be 'even better'. Advertisement The tournament, which will again be held at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Mong Kok, featured 12 teams last year, with Sri Lanka beating Pakistan in the final. It was previously last held in 2017. The event was awarded 'M' Mark status by the city's Major Sports Events Committee, meaning it received backing worth up to HK$15 million (US$1.93 million) in matching funds, and justified that backing with two sell-out crowds and one near full house over its three days. It was also broadcast on Star Sports, where a global television audience figure of around 380 million over the three days was touted. CHKC chairman Burji Shroff said: 'Last year was the best Sixes ever held, and we are committed to making the 2025 event even better. Advertisement 'By announcing the dates over six months in advance, we encourage everyone to mark their calendars. We are confident in delivering higher quality cricket and an even more vibrant carnival atmosphere.'
