After successful comeback last year, Hong Kong Cricket Sixes to be held again in October
After labelling last year's comeback event 'the best Sixes ever held', Cricket Hong Kong China (CHKC) has announced that the next Hong Kong Cricket Sixes will be held from October 31 to November 2 this year, and will be 'even better'.

The tournament, which will again be held at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Mong Kok, featured 12 teams last year, with Sri Lanka beating Pakistan in the final. It was previously last held in 2017.
The event was awarded 'M' Mark status by the city's Major Sports Events Committee, meaning it received backing worth up to HK$15 million (US$1.93 million) in matching funds, and justified that backing with two sell-out crowds and one near full house over its three days.
It was also broadcast on Star Sports, where a global television audience figure of around 380 million over the three days was touted.
CHKC chairman Burji Shroff said: 'Last year was the best Sixes ever held, and we are committed to making the 2025 event even better.

'By announcing the dates over six months in advance, we encourage everyone to mark their calendars. We are confident in delivering higher quality cricket and an even more vibrant carnival atmosphere.'

United were better in the second half but the Southeast Asian side stunned the visitors in the 71st minute when Burmese attacker Maung Maung Lwin found himself clean through on goal before firing into the top corner past Tom Heaton. File photo: Reuters A 55-year-old Nepali climber dubbed the "Everest Man" reached the peak of the world's highest mountain for a record 31st time on Tuesday, more than three decades after his first summit. "Massive congratulations to the legendary Kami Rita Sherpa on his 31st successful ascent of Everest - the highest number of ascents by anyone in history," said a statement from expedition organisers, Seven Summit Treks. "Kami Rita Sherpa needs no introduction. He is not just a national climbing hero, but a global symbol of Everest itself," it added. Sherpa first stood on the top of Mount Everest in 1994 when working for a commercial expedition. He has climbed Everest almost every year since, guiding clients. Sherpa, speaking a year ago after he had climbed the 8,849-metre peak for the 29th and 30th times, said that he was "just working" and did not plan on setting records. "I am glad for the record, but records are eventually broken," he told AFP in May 2024. "I am more happy that my climbs help Nepal be recognised in the world." Seven Summit Treks said he completed the climb on Tuesday as the leader of the Indian army team, adding that he "not only reached the summit himself, but also led and guided the last remaining members of the team to the top". The achievement comes as the spring climbing season nears its end. Nepal has issued more than 1,100 permits for mountaineers this season, including 458 for Everest, earning more than US$5 million in royalties. The season has so far recorded the fewest number of deaths on Everest in recent years. Two climbers, a Filipino and an Indian, have died on its high camps. (AFP)
