Led by BCF Advisory Board Chairman Mohammad Mansoor, the delegation engaged with over 50 delegates representing ICC Asia members, including Test-playing nations such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The conference, hosted by Hong Kong Cricket Chairman Burji Shroff at the prestigious Hong Kong Cricket Club, was steered by Aminul Islam, ICC Development Manager - Asia, and William Glenwright, ICC Global Development Manager. Notable attendees included Mubashir Usmani, ICC Associates Chairperson, and Mahinda Vallipuram, ICC Director. Hong Kong cricket chief warns city needs facilities, funding to be competitive
Hong Kong cricket chief Burji Shroff has warned that only increased access to facilities, more grounds and greater government support will allow the city's men's and women's teams to improve. Advertisement Following one-sided losses to Uganda and Italy in February's Challenge League, which Shroff called 'disappointing to say the least', Hong Kong's men have minimal hope of attaining cherished one-day international status until 2030 at the earliest. Ahead of hosting Nepal, Kuwait and Qatar for a quadrangular series, from Wednesday to Sunday, Hong Kong are No 23 in the T20I world rankings, with women in 22nd. 'It's not a favourable position for us right now,' said Shroff, chairman of Cricket Hong Kong, China (CHK). The city has one venue, Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Kowloon, capable of regularly staging international cricket, while most of the players have work commitments. 'We're still desperately short, though … and we need more use of other grounds,' Shroff added.

After successful comeback last year, Hong Kong Cricket Sixes to be held again in October
After labelling last year's comeback event 'the best Sixes ever held', Cricket Hong Kong China (CHKC) has announced that the next Hong Kong Cricket Sixes will be held from October 31 to November 2 this year, and will be 'even better'. Advertisement The tournament, which will again be held at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Mong Kok, featured 12 teams last year, with Sri Lanka beating Pakistan in the final. It was previously last held in 2017. The event was awarded 'M' Mark status by the city's Major Sports Events Committee, meaning it received backing worth up to HK$15 million (US$1.93 million) in matching funds, and justified that backing with two sell-out crowds and one near full house over its three days. It was also broadcast on Star Sports, where a global television audience figure of around 380 million over the three days was touted. CHKC chairman Burji Shroff said: 'Last year was the best Sixes ever held, and we are committed to making the 2025 event even better. We are confident in delivering higher quality cricket and an even more vibrant carnival atmosphere.'
