After successful comeback last year, Hong Kong Cricket Sixes to be held again in October
After labelling last year's comeback event 'the best Sixes ever held', Cricket Hong Kong China (CHKC) has announced that the next Hong Kong Cricket Sixes will be held from October 31 to November 2 this year, and will be 'even better'. Advertisement The tournament, which will again be held at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Mong Kok, featured 12 teams last year, with Sri Lanka beating Pakistan in the final. It was previously last held in 2017. The event was awarded 'M' Mark status by the city's Major Sports Events Committee, meaning it received backing worth up to HK$15 million (US$1.93 million) in matching funds, and justified that backing with two sell-out crowds and one near full house over its three days. It was also broadcast on Star Sports, where a global television audience figure of around 380 million over the three days was touted. CHKC chairman Burji Shroff said: 'Last year was the best Sixes ever held, and we are committed to making the 2025 event even better. We are confident in delivering higher quality cricket and an even more vibrant carnival atmosphere.'

Hong Kong cricket's grand old man says ODI dream still alive before Italy clash
Published: 4:05pm, 15 Feb 2025 A bullish Ehsan Khan remained optimistic Hong Kong would resuscitate their Challenge League B campaign in what has become a critical meeting with Italy on Sunday. With only the two leading teams following next year's third leg staying in contention to achieve ODI status and 2027 World Cup qualification, Hong Kong are fixed in third following a damaging 48 hours in midweek. A heavy loss to Uganda came after Wednesday's game against minnows Tanzania was washed out. Another defeat against second-placed Italy would leave daylight between Hong Kong and the top two. Elder statesman Khan, 40, claimed 29 wickets in 15 ODIs after making his Hong Kong debut in 2016. His prize scalps included the superstar Indian duo of Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.
