Public invited to CSFD's Open House and Citizen Awards
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) is hosting its Second Annual Colorado Springs Fire Department Open House and Citizen Awards in June, which will be open to the public. CSFD will host the open house on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fire department will recognize community members who have gone above and beyond to assist other fellow community members in the greatest time of need. The event will also include demonstrations from the CSFD High Angle Rescue, HAZMAT, Heavy Rescue Crews, and CSFD's Special Operations Drone. Individuals will be able to see a simulated structure for response and an auto-extraction. Members from the Colorado Springs Police Department, Colorado Springs Utilities Wildland Units, and more agencies will be in attendance. Man without climbing gear rescued at Garden of the Gods Park
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man had to be rescued on Monday, May 26 from Garden of the Gods Park after reportedly climbing nearly 75 feet without climbing gear, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD). CSFD posted about the rescue shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Monday and said when rescue crews arrived, they found a man approximately 75 feet up a rock formation at the park without any climbing gear or protection. CSFD said crews worked for over an hour setting up a rope system to safely bring the man down. CSFD responds to high-angle rescue near Bear Creek Rd
(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — According to CSFD, crews have successfully rescued the patient by taking him up the cliff face to the ridge. He reportedly fell about 40 feet and has minor injuries. Crews are evacuating him down a trail to Bear Creek Road, where he will be loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital. The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) reported that crews responded to a high-angle rescue near Bear Creek Road near Gold Camp Road on Saturday, May 17. According to CSFD, as of 4:45 p.m., crews were on scene on Bear Creek Road, near Bear Creek Pull Off #3. Bear Creek Road is closed in both directions as crews work. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. First wildfire town hall set for May 13
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) will be hosting a Wildfire Town Hall for the community on Tuesday, May 13. On Tuesday, community members will learn about the ongoing threat of wildfire, how to prepare their homes for wildfires, how to be notified of an emergency, what to include in their emergency plan, and information on evacuations. The community will hear from CSFD Wildfire Mitigation, CSFD Operations, El Paso Teller 911 Authority, Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management, Springs Utilities, and the Colorado Springs Police Department. Individuals will also have the opportunity to sign up for the Neighborhood Chipping Program, a program that assists eligible individuals with disposal of tree branches and hazardous vegetation, and sign up for emergency alerts through Peak Alerts. Overall, three meetings will be held; three for citizens living in the Wildland Urban Interface, and two will be held for those living in the Prairie Urban Interface. CSFD working to free trapped person in downtown accident
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) reported around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, that crews are on the scene of an accident in which they are working to free a trapped person at Colorado Avenue and Weber Street. According to CSFD, the patient will be taken to the hospital with unknown injuries once they are extracted from the vehicle.
