Did Travis Scott Diss Pusha T On His New ‘Jackboys 2' Album?
Travis Scott seems to have responded—albeit subtly but sharply—to recent personal jabs made by Pusha T, using his new Jackboys 2 compilation as a platform to break his silence. Released on Sunday (July 13), the highly anticipated project features Cactus Jack Records mainstays like Don Toliver, Sheck Wes, and SoFaygo, along with guest appearances from Playboi Carti, Future, GloRilla, Bun B, and others. However, it's Scott's own verse on the track 'Champain & Vacay' that's drawing the most attention, with fans and critics alike noting what seems to be a pointed lyrical response to Pusha's recent character attacks. On the song, Scott raps, 'Yeah, man, I swear these old ni**as kill me/ Know my YNs feel me/ They just want the real me, yeah/ Blue Bugatti, I'm dodgin' TMZ/ Made a hundred off pushin' T's/ Now my phone on DND, yeah.' While he doesn't name Pusha directly, the line 'Made a hundred off pushin' T's' is widely interpreted as a play on the Virginia rapper's name. The verse also seemingly mocks Pusha's age and hints at the drama swirling in the media—particularly surrounding TMZ coverage. The rift between the two artists reportedly stems from Scott allowing Drake to take shots at both Pharrell Williams and Pusha T on the UTOPIA track 'Meltdown.' According to Pusha, the moment felt like a betrayal, particularly since the two had just shared a studio session in Paris. In a GQ interview, Pusha recalled: 'He came to [Pharrell's] studio. He interrupted a session… He's smiling, laughing, jumping around, doing his f**king monkey dance… And then a week later you hear 'Meltdown,' which he didn't play.' Pusha later doubled down on his disapproval, confirming speculation that lines from the Clipse's Let God Sort Em Out track 'So Be It' were aimed squarely at Travis: 'You cried in front of me, you died in front of me/ Calabasas took your bi*ch and your pride in front of me… Lucky I ain't TMZ it, so be it, so be it.' While Travis doesn't address every accusation directly, 'Champain & Vacay' suggests he's not ignoring the shots fired. Instead, he's choosing to respond the way he knows best: through the music. With his Sunday album drop, Scott is just the latest major hip-hop act to break from the industry standard Friday release date. Tyler, the Creator did so last year as well for his eighth album, Chromakopia, dropping it on a Monday morning in the hopes that fans would engage more directly with the music throughout the week instead of over a weekend. JackBoys 2 will mark Scott's first full album since he released Utopia back in 2023. That record was one of the best-selling albums of the year and has since gone double-platinum. JackBoys 2 comes over five years after Cactus Jack first released JackBoys back in December of 2019. The first album featured guest appearances from artists including Rosalia, Lil Baby, Quavo, Pop Smoke and Young Thug, the latter of whom was featured on the album's triple-platinum single, 'Out West.' Some of the expected features on the new album are GloRilla, Vybz Kartel, 21 Savage and Tyla, among others.
