Popular breakfast favourite disappears across all UK supermarkets

Disappointed shoppers have taken to social media to ask why the breakfast bar has been suddenly removed from shelves A popular breakfast favourite has been discontinued from UK supermarkets. Weetabix has confirmed its Alpen cereal bars are no more. Alpen bars are made with a mix of cereals, fruits, nuts, and are sometimes covered in chocolate or yogurt. Shoppers had been taking to social media to question where the bars had gone. ‌ One person asked: "What has happened to Alpen Light cereal bars? I can't find them anywhere." Someone replied: "Strawberry and yoghurt Alpen bars also on the missing list!" ‌ In a separate Reddit post, one person said: "Was starting to think I imagined them, but nah — Alpen bars (including Alpen Delight) have actually disappeared from every supermarket and even their website. No pages, no mentions, not even in the product archive. Just gone. "I emailed Alpen to ask what was going on and they replied confirming they've discontinued the whole line. No announcement, no heads-up — just wiped off the map." Replying to this post, another shopper said: "I have genuinely been looking for alpen bars the past few weeks!!" A spokesperson from Weetabix told the Sun: "As part of our focus on long term growth and simplifying the business, we made the decision to discontinue Alpen bars in 2024. "This change enabled us to redeploy our teams toward our most valuable products, supporting the continued growth of our core operations. ‌ "We're pleased to confirm that, as a result of this decision, the majority of our brilliant people chose to stay and help us to remain focused on delivering the great-tasting, nutritious products our consumers know and trust." In more food news, Cadbury has announced it is launching a brand new Twirl chocolate bar - and it looks just like a discontinued fan favourite. Cadbury Twirl White Dipped is basically a classic Twirl bar that has been dipped in a white chocolate coating. ‌ The dipped Twirls are limited edition from June 2 - so you'll only be able to grab one for a limited time. The RRP (recommended retail price) is 99p but retailers can set their own prices. Cadbury fans may be right in thinking the Cadbury Twirl White Dipped looks a bit familiar. It is essentially the reverse of the classic Flake Snow, which featured a white flake dipped in milk chocolate. It was launched in 2000 before being discontinued in 2008. The iconic chocolate brand shared the news in a post on Facebook, where they said: "OK but we've really outdone ourselves with this one. Introducing Twirl White Dipped, keep your eyes peeled for when you can get your hands on it..."

Cadbury fans rush to B&M to grab ‘best ever' discontinued 00s chocolate bar

Almost two decades after it disappeared from shelves, an iconic Cadbury favourite popular in the 2000s has been spotted on supermarket shelves once more. The Cadbury Dairy Milk Shortcake Biscuit bars were discontinued back in 2008, but now, they've been given new life. Fans of the sweet treat have spotted it exclusively in B&M across the UK. The snack made it into the New Foods UK Facebook group – and no doubt, chocolate aficionados took a moment to reminisce about its glory days. 'I used to love the UK version of this…it was lush,' penned Kat Palmer, while Charlotte Newbold said 'off to B&M I go!' Meanwhile, Ruby Wren confessed that she used to 'love this one in the early 2000s,' adding that she 'missed it so much.' Kelsey Daniels said 'I want 10 bars please!! This was my fave chocolate!!!!!', and Helen Macleod said it was the 'best ever' treat. In fact, fans of the bar have been so dedicated to the cause that they even created a Facebook group. Their cause was simple: Bring Back The Cadbury Dairy Milk Shortcake Biscuit Bar. What a campaign slogan, hey? Swiftly after learning of their return, Sheyy Jade ran down to B&M, posting a haul of four chocolate bars – and in the comments, Lydia Neave Hodgson admitted to being 'fully stocked up' already. Naturally though, there's a catch. A spokesperson for Mondelēz International told MailOnline that these bars aren't sold directly by the UK branch, and that the B&M bars have come from another market. To date, Cadbury also operates in Ireland, the US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Malta, and South Africa. 'We discontinued the similar Cadbury Dairy Milk Shortcake Biscuit bar in the UK in 2008 and we have no current plans to bring the product back,' they confirmed.
