Broncos roster: Caden Prieskorn (No. 86) competing for spot at tight end

Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at rookie tight end Caden Prieskorn, No. 86. Before the Broncos: Prieskorn (6-6, 246 pounds) is a former high school quarterback who spent three seasons at Memphis (2020-22) and then transferred to Ole Miss, where he played from 2023-2024. At Memphis, Prieskorn was nominated for the Burlsworth Award(best college walk-on player) in 2022, and All-AAC First Team by PFF. Prieskorn totaled 57 receptions for 850 yards and seven touchdowns in 23 games with the Rebels. In 2023, Prieskorn was named the 2023 Peach Bowl Offensive MVP, along with being named a Third-Team All-SEC by College Football Network. In 2024, Prieskorn was named an honorable mention All-SEC tight end and earned an invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl. He totaled 57 receptions for 850 yards and seven touchdowns in 23 games with the Rebels. Broncos tenure: Prieskorn originally signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent this spring, but he was cut after minicamp. He then landed in Denver last month. Prieskorn will make his Bronco debut during preseason next month. Chances to make the 53-man roster: Long shot. Evan Engram and Adam Trautman are locked into the top two tight end spots, and hybrid tight end/fullback Nate Adkins is likely safe as well. That could leave Lucas Krull, seventh-round draft pick Caleb Lohner and Prieskorn competing for one final spot. If Prieskorn doesn't end up on the 53-man roster, he could be a candidate for the practice squad in 2025. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Broncos Give Update on Injured Tight End

Broncos Give Update on Injured Tight End originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Earlier in the offseason, the Denver Broncos added depth to their tight end room in the form Cole Fotheringham, who impressed the team during a tryout at rookie minicamp. Advertisement His stay with the franchise lasted just over a month, as the Broncos released him on Tuesday. That was until they brought him back into the fold in a second formal transaction in four days, placing him on injured reserve after he cleared waivers on Friday. According to Broncos Wire's Jon Heath, Fotheringham will spend the entirety of the 2025 season on the Broncos' injury reserve list unless he reaches an injury settlement and is released from the team again. In a subsequent transaction, the Broncos signed Caden Prieskorn as an undrafted free agent. Prieskorn, who played college football at Memphis and Ole Miss, previously participated in the Detroit Lions' rookie minicamp but was cut at its conclusion. Las Vegas Raiders tight end Cole Fotheringham (85) runs a drill during training camp at the Intermountain Health Performance Ward-Imagn Images Fotheringham's professional football career began in 2022, when he was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent. He spent that season on the Raiders' practice squad after not making the team's final 53-man roster cut. Advertisement Fotheringham's 2023 campaign nearly mirrored that of the year before, but he was elevated to the Raiders' active roster for two games. He recorded his lone professional reception – a six-yard catch on a pass from quarterback Aidan O'Connell – in his NFL debut against the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day. For the second straight offseason, Fotheringham signed a reserve/future contract with the Raiders, but he was once again released before the regular season began. In 2024, he had stints on both the Houston Texans' and Raiders' practice squads, but he was not elevated to the active roster at any point that year. Detroit Lions sign 3 from rookie minicamp, waive TE Caden Prieskorn

The Detroit Lions signed three tryout players from rookie minicamp. The Lions signed tight end Luke Deal, wide receiver Malik Taylor and defensive tackle Raequan Williams, and waived undrafted rookie tight end Caden Prieskorn. Michigan State defensive tackle Raequan Williams gestures to an official after pressuring Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley during the fourth quarter in University Park, Pa., Oct. 13, 2018. Deal went undrafted out of Auburn this spring, while Taylor and Williams are veterans with local ties and NFL experience. Advertisement Taylor, a Flint native who played at Ferris State, spent the past three seasons with the New York Jets and last appeared in a game in 2023. He had seven receptions with the Green Bay Packers in 2020-21 and two with the Jets in '23. Williams, who played at Michigan State, appeared in seven games with one start for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020-21. Deal, a two-time captain, played primarily as a blocking tight end at Auburn. The Lions had two open spots on their 90-man roster after receiving an international player exemption for sixth-round pick Ahmed Hassanein. They opened a third spot by waiving Prieskorn, an Orchard Lake St. Mary's grad who signed with the team last week.
