Corrie star's true feelings on Swarla twist as she shares wedding theory
Coronation Street's Betsy Swain actress Sydney Martin has shared both her and her character's thoughts on that Lisa and Carla proposal, and if a wedding could air on the ITV soap One Coronation Street star has shared a new theory about something that could happen if Lisa Swain and Carla Connor did end up getting married. Amid hopes from Swarla fans for a wedding for the pair after a recent proposal, actress Sydney Martin, who plays Lisa's daughter Betsy Swain on the ITV soap, has had her say. She shared her character's true thoughts on the romance and how she would react to the proposal, and a possible wedding. She also shared her own thoughts on Swarla, acknowledging the fictional couple's international reach while sharing what she thinks could happen where the wedding is concerned, with her thoughts on both the likely bridesmaids and whether they will make it to Ibiza. With Lisa and Carla sharing their hopes for a future ceremony, and Carla saying now was not the right time, the pair are not currently engaged. But fans are sure it will happen soon, amid the characters plotting an Ibiza wedding. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, actress Sydney shared her thoughts on the twist and what's ahead. She spilled on how Betsy would react to them being engaged if it happened: "I think secretly she would love it. Sydney would absolutely love it, but Betsy I think internally she would too. "She knows the dynamic really works and she does truly see Carla as a stepmother and as family. But I think she would still be Betsy wouldn't she, and she would probably be embarrassed by them both." Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton on the show, joined in with the Swarla chat and confessed she was hoping her character would bag an invite to the big day. She told her co-star: "I need to be there!" It's then that Sydney shared a possible prediction about the big scenes, if not a hope, as she told Cait that Lauren could well be a bridesmaid for the pair. She told Cait: "Don't worry, you will be there with Betsy in the bridesmaid dresses. Hopefully one day." We also got their thoughts on the possible wedding location being Ibiza, and it is safe to say both Cait and Sydney were down. Sydney said: "I wish we were going Ibiza! I mean you know what, if they're not going to take us to Ibiza... we'd so be there." Cait added: "I would love that." Sydney shared her support for the couple, as did Cait, while acknowledging the fan base for Swarla had gone international. It wasn't just Cait and Sydney that wanted the trip to Ibiza meanwhile, as when we spoke to Lisa actress Vicky Myers she was ready for the petition to get going. She joked: "I think it would be very good. Shall we see? We can put it out there."

Corrie's Lauren and Betsy talk close bond, unplanned twist and 'chaos' ahead
Coronation Street stars Cait Fitton and Sydney Martin have revealed all on their growing friendship on and off screen, while their characters weren't initially meant to be paired There's more "drama" and "fun" in store for Coronation Street 's Lauren Bolton and Betsy Swain, as their blossoming friendship leads to plenty of chaos. But the stars playing them have their own budding friendship away from the ITV soap, with actresses Cait Fitton and Sydney Martin praising each other, saying it feels like they were "separated at birth". Speaking exclusively to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards, the fan favourites shared all on what it's like filming together, and getting to play friends on the show, while being close in real life. In fact the dynamic duo told us the twist with Lauren and Betsy becoming pals almost didn't happen, and could have gone a different direction. Luckily for the girls soap boss Kate Brooks gave it a try and soon fell in love with the friendship formed in scenes. Of course the characters have had the odd fight in some classic soap drama, and there's more chaos ahead it seems. But Cait and Sydney told us viewers would get to see the bond onscreen grow, with Lauren and son Frankie going to very much be a part of the family dynamic with Betsy, mum Lisa Swain, stepmother Carla Connor and there loved ones. Sydney told us of what's ahead for the duo: "A little bit of drama," with Cait agreeing: "We have, there's always drama." Sydney confessed she often overshared when it came to spoilers, but Cait told us: "I feel like we overshare on our own but when wer'e together we're alright, so you've got us at a good time." Sydney added there was "drama and a bit of fun" on the cards, with Cait promising "lots of fun" for the duo onscreen. Sydney shared how they often go to the director with some ideas hoping for some "funny" scenes, while they both agreed tomato ketchup possibly wasn't the best idea after Cait stained Sydney's hair with the condiment during a scene with Roy Cropper. But asides the hilarity, there's also plenty more plots on the way for both characters and we will see them grow closer as pals. Cait shared: "I think to come you'll see changes for both of them but also a genuine friendship. "They are very different but also similar. As soon as I found out I was working with Sydney I was like yes! People are gonna like me now!" Cait had nothing but praise for her friend too, and the feeling was mutual. Cait said: "I love working with her it's amazing. She has such an amazing aura about her and I learn a lot form her." Sydney gushed back: "Likewise, she's there for me all the time," commenting on their "forever" friendship, with Cait adding they always say they were "separated at birth" Cait also revealed that the stuff with Lauren and Betsy almost didn't happen. Corrie boss Kate added it into an episode as a trial run not knowing what to expect, but soon it proved to be a hit and Kate "loved it". Now the girls are working on a joint name, with Cait coming up with Team Bauren which Sydney backed, as did we. The girls promised the drama and friendship for the pair would be ongoing, as Sydney commented on the "growing" family dynamic between Betsy and those closest to her.

Outlander's Catriona Balfe 'disappointing' in role of Claire Fraser compared to books according to fans
Outlander star Catriona Balfe has been widely praised for her role as Claire, however some book fans have highlighted the major differences from Diana Gabaldon's description of the leading star. Outlander fans have divided opinion on how suitable the leading stars of the hit Starz show are in comparison to Diana Gabaldon's book franchise. It has opened the floor to debate on how the characters have transferred on-screen. Sam Heughan and Catriona Balfe are famed for their roles of Claire and Jamie Fraser. The historical romance series has amassed a global fanbase, after bringing to life Diana Gabaldon's Outlander books. However one fan has taken to discussion platform Reddit to question the suitability of Irish actress Balfe, as the role of Claire. It comes as the world war II nurse was described in the books as 'curvy' and having completely different coloured eyes, and height. Sam Heughan has appeared to impress many though, with the Scottish actor being hailed as 'ideal' for the portrayal of Highland warrior Jamie Fraser. "For Jamie, I feel like there aren't many differences, as I feel like Sam was born to play Jamie, with the subtle difference that he is 3cm shorter than his character. But in Claire we do see more differences between the one in the book and the one in the series?," one fan penned. They continued, "That doesn't mean Cait doesn't play a great role, I adore her. But when I read, it's a different Claire. Although I have no references. Do you know any famous women that you use as a reference when you imagine Claire because you feel that she is much closer to the one in the books? Or are you just imagining Cait?" Fans soon took to the forum to weigh in with their opinion, when many fans pointed out that although Balfe's acting is outstanding, her appearance is a far cry from how the books describe Claire Fraser. One fan said, "I don't see Cait, no. Specially bc Jamie talks a lot about her big a** and hips and Cait... well, she is a very skinny legend supermodel with the longest legs ever. She is almost as tall as Sam." Another echoed, "No I have a different image for Claire. She's supposed to her head in the middle of Jamie's chest when they stand or lay together. Cait is too tall to be Claire. And the eyes." A fan quickly responded, "Yes! How many times does Diana write eyes the color of 'verra fine whiskey'?" Someone else said, I'll get downvoted for this, but you asked. I picture Cait, but it's disappointing that's she's so thin. I roll my eyes when I read the books and Jamie talks about her round a** lol." "I don't picture Caitriona, I picture her as described. Book Claire looks nothing like Cait. The height, and especially the height difference with Jamie, her hair color is described as medium brown and Cait's is close to black, and of course the eyes and lack of curviness (particularly the plump arse) are totally different," added another. One person suggested, "I always picture Jessica Raine, the actress who played Jenny Lee on Call the Midwife." Meanwhile, some fans disagreed as they praised Catriona Balfe's portrayal. Many fans had ended up reading Gabaldon's books after watching the show, and could only imagine Cait as Claire. One person wrote, "I love the way she's described in the books as quite curvy (because I can relate, lol, and it makes sense for Jamie's character to be attracted to a curvy woman esp in that time period) but I loved Cait's performance so much that I just picture her." Someone else quipped, "I picture Caitriona as Claire, as I saw the show before I read the books. I don't mind her height as it's nice to see romantic character representation for tall women. As with the books and in rl, the tiny women generally get the tall guys." "I see Cait because the show led me to the books, but my book Claire is so much more than show Claire," added another. Another fan noted, "I have my own versions of all the characters in my mind when I read. Nothing against the actors. Most of them are fantastic. But the book characters are different people to me."
