New Saints stun Swansea to win Adran Trophy

The New Saints secured their first domestic Welsh trophy with a 3-1 win over Swansea City in the Genero Adran Trophy final. The result marked the first time since 2018 a team other than Swansea City, Cardiff City or Cardiff Met have won a major trophy. TNS took an early lead within the opening two minutes of the game. A misplaced back pass by Swans defender Caitlin Williams gave Chantelle Teare the opportunity to intercept and place the ball in the bottom left hand corner. Player of the match Lexi Jones then doubled TNS' lead in the 20th minute with a stunning strike from outside of the box. Things went from bad to worse for Jamie Sherwood's side as Lauren Davies' attempt to clear Maria Francis-Jones' cross resulted in an own goal. Swans veteran Stacey John-Davies managed to get her name on the scoresheet in the second half but it wasn't enough for a Swansea side who were looking to end a two-year trophy drought.
