PHNOM PENH: The Military Attaché Corps Phnom Penh (MACPP), which comprises fourteen participants from nine countries, visited conflict-affected areas in Cambodia's Banteay Ampil district on Sunday (Aug 10) to inspect the situation on the ground, following Cambodia's implementation the ceasefire. 'This mission stemmed from the outcomes of the Special Meeting held on July 28, 2025, in Putrajaya, Malaysia and the Extraordinary Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC), which was concluded on August 7 and reaffirmed the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement of July 28, 2025, in Putrajaya,' said the Ministry of National Defence. On Sunday August 10, the delegation inspected Thmar Doun Village in Kok Mon commune, where residents reported property destruction and lingering safety concerns. According to Heng Ratana, director-general of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), an MK-84 bomb was discovered in the village — the scene of heavy aerial bombardment by the Thai air force during the recent clashes. They also observed heavy damage at Ta Moan Sen Chey Primary School and Ta Moan Senchey Pagoda, which occurred Thai attacks that took place from July 24 to 28. In addition, the attachés toured the Wat Phnom Thmar Kambor refugee site in Samroang town, where displaced families are sheltering. The visit aimed to give them a first-hand understanding of the humanitarian situation and the needs of affected communities. The delegation included representatives from Australia, Canada, China, France, Japan, Korea, Laos, the UK and Vietnam, underscoring international attention to the border tensions and their humanitarian impact. - The Phnom Penh Post/ANN
