Garnant Park Golf Club raises £4,000 for Wales Air Ambulance

The annual Captain's Day event at Garnant Park members golf club raised £4,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance charity. Captain Anthony Bissick of the Amman Valley golf club shared how the air ambulance became personally significant after a family tragedy. On May 16, his sister Danielle, who was pregnant at the time, suffered a brain haemorrhage. Two air ambulances were sent to provide life-saving care during the incident, with medical personnel performing an emergency delivery of her baby at the scene. Afterwards, Danielle was taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea, and her baby was transported to Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales. Sadly, Danielle could not be saved on that day. Baby Dalton-Henri survived on life support for a week but later died on May 23. Medical efforts on the day provided the family with precious time to be with Dalton-Henri, before his death. In addition, the air ambulance provided invaluable bereavement support services to the family. Mr Bissick has pledged to continue fundraising for the air ambulance during his tenure as club captain, with a number of strategies in place. One of them being the 'captain's bunker,' where golfers must make a donation if their ball lands in the bunker. The clubhouse bar also has Wales Air Ambulance donation collection boxes.

Club Captain Joseph Andrade leads a day to remember at the Emirates Golf Club

The Pavilion at the Emirates Golf Club (EGC) was alive with camaraderie, celebration, and heartfelt gratitude as Joseph Andrade, the 2024-2025 Club Captain, hosted a magnificent Captain's Day Gala Night. The event, a cherished tradition at EGC, brought together senior members of the club's management, seasoned players, and a community that thrives on the love of the game. The Captain's Day kicked off with a golf tournament featuring both ladies and men for a day packed with competition and unforgettable moments. The excitement was elevated when Joseph took center stage, hitting a ceremonial tee-off that set the tone for an action-packed 18 holes of golf on the famed Majlis Course. In a thrilling twist, Dileep Kumar of Heilbronn generously sponsored a luxury apartment worth AED 1,000,000 as a hole-in-one prize, while Adam Motors offered a Lotus Electra valued at AED 500,000, giving players two incredible opportunities to strike it lucky. It was an incredible moment for all the participants, with just one shot standing between them and winning the prestigious prizes. As the day unfolded, it was clear that the night was more than just a gathering—it was a reflection of Joseph's passion and dedication to his role. Among those in attendance was Josie Tracey, the Lady Captain of EGC, who lauded Joseph for the commitment he brings to his captaincy. "Joseph embodies the true spirit of leadership at EGC," Josie remarked. "His enthusiasm and dedication have strengthened the sense of camaraderie among members, making this club feel more like a family than ever before." In his address, Joseph took a moment to express his heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported him during his tenure. "Tonight is a testament to the strength of this incredible community we have here at the Emirates Golf Club," he said. "I want to extend my deepest gratitude to every member for the unwavering support you've shown me throughout my tenure as Club Captain. It has truly been an honor to serve this wonderful club, and I hope that, together, we've been able to make a lasting impact. 'While my time as captain is not over yet, I'm excited to embark on this next chapter with Josie by my side as we make 'The Year of the Colleague' a time to remember. Let's continue to make the EGC a place where we not only play great golf but build lifelong memories." Senior golfers such as Mukesh Kochar were among those who praised Joseph for his leadership and the warm, inclusive atmosphere he has fostered at the club. 'Joseph's leadership has been nothing short of inspiring,' said Kochar. 'The way he has led with passion, composure, and unwavering belief in the team has been truly commendable. His captaincy has not only guided us through challenges but has also strengthened our bond as a team. Well done, and here's to many more successes ahead, Joseph!" The evening was packed with entertainment, laughter, and a well-earned celebration of achievements. The Pure Bhangra Group electrified the crowd with their high-energy performance, while country singer Preston captivated guests with his soulful melodies. The night also saw various awards and accolades presented, recognizing the contributions and achievements of EGC's members and staff. As Joseph's captaincy continues until August, he and Josie are committed to making 'The Year of the Colleague' a truly special chapter in the club's history—one that strengthens friendships, fosters new connections, and leaves a legacy of unity at the Emirates Golf Club.
