New Alfa Romeo Stelvio: Everything We Know
The new Alfa Romeo Stelvio is one of the most highly anticipated new vehicles of the next few years. Between the many teasers and patent images, and the imminent debut date—which should be late this year or early in 2026—the next iteration of Alfa's mid-size SUV is on the minds of enthusiasts everywhere. And how could it not be? The next Stelvio aims to give Alfa Romeo a fresh start, an heir to an SUV that, frankly, was never as successful as its German counterparts, like the Audi Q5, the BMW X3, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. With this new generation, though, that could change. Before the new Stelvio debuts, though, here's everything we know about the upcoming Italian SUV. What Will It Look Like? Photo by: Patent images gave us an early look at the next Alfa Romeo Stelvio, but they should still be taken with a grain of salt. Those images may not be entirely indicative of what the final production version could look like, even though they are well-detailed. The new Stelvio will remain fairly faithful to the design of the current generation, with a standard roof shape sloping gently towards the rear. Don't worry, this won't be a "coupe SUV." The rear is characterized by a unique triangular lighting signature that connects to the lower part of the tailgate. This element is similar to the first teaser published at the end of 2024. Photo by: Alfa Romeo Photo by: Alfa Romeo That triangular theme also extends to the front of the vehicle. Unlike previous renderings , the classic Alfa Romeo shield should remain in place, with an upper trim piece that connects the slim light fixtures at either corner. As with the Junior, the Alfa Romeo logo will be on the hood. As for the interior—we have no clue. But expect a clear leap forward compared to the current model, perhaps similar to what we've seen in the new Jeep Wagoneer S , with which the Stelvio will share its platform. That should include a large center touchscreen, a screen for the passenger, and plenty of other tech. What's Under The Hood? New Alfa Romeo Stelvio Prototype Photo by: Alfa Romeo The big news for 2026 is that the Stelvio will adopt the Stellantis STLA Large platform used by the aforementioned Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger. Alfa will have an "electric first" philosophy—that is, initially focusing on EVs before moving on to hybrids—with plenty of room for pure gas engines still. Alfa Romeo initially planned to focus exclusively on EVs, but due to market uncertainty, the automaker has had to shift to hybrid and gas engine production for the new Stelvio. That will delay the SUV by a few months, potentially pushing it from a 2026 model year to a 2027. Alfa Romeo has not confirmed the delay, but the company did release a statement reaffirming its commitment to the new Stelvio. As mentioned, there will be the electric version, a first for the Stelvio. But we don't know all the details. The Wagoneer S is powered by two motors with a total output of 600 horsepower and 617 pound-feet of torque, with a 100.5 kilowatt-hour, 400-volt battery pack. The electric Charger, meanwhile, is available with up to 670 hp. What About The Quadrifoglio? Photo by: Alfa Romeo We know that the STLA Large platform can accommodate batteries with a 118.0-kilowatt-hour capacity and an 800-volt architecture. The company is reportedly even hard at work on solid-state batteries . With that technology in tow, Stellantis has claimed performance figures of 1,000 hp and a 0-60 mph time of 2.0 seconds, which would make sense for a Quadrifoglio model. An electric version with a range extender can't be ruled out either, with a gas engine used to recharge the batteries. As for the electrified engines, there will almost certainly be mild-hybrid and plug-in options, with the turbo 2.0-liter gas engine among the main candidates under the hood. Pure gas engines could be used exclusively in the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, which, as CEO Santo Ficili told us, " Will surprise you. " How Much Will It Cost? Of course, it's still too early to talk about pricing for the next Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The company will certainly increase pricing over the current model, which starts at $47,545 for the base Sprint model in the US for 2025. The new version could start at around $50,000, with the electric models at the top of the pricing list. 2025 BMW M2 Yearlong Review: Over-the-Air Software Updates
We expected our yearlong review 2025 BMW M2 to be great to drive, a rock star on track, and easy to live with. We also expected the Twilight Purple car delivered to us in December of 2024 would be the same car in May of 2025. Much to our delight, that's not been the case. 0:00 / 0:00 Our M2 has been the regular recipient of over-the-air (OTA) software updates that have added features and improved the overall ownership experience, all thanks to BMW's splashy My BMW mobile app and its latest OS 8.5 in-car operating system. While OTA software updates are incredibly common in our fleet of yearlong EVs, they're somewhat of a novelty in our internal-combustion-engine-powered cars. Of the dozen-plus ICE yearlong review test cars we've had in our fleet over the past year and a half, only a small handful had mobile apps worth using (like our Genesis G90), and even fewer were the recipients of over-the-air software updates (our Subarus have been the standouts here). That makes BMW's combination of My BMW and regular OTA updates such a killer app. The features added to our M2 are minor in comparison to some items added to our EVs, such as our Tesla Model Y's Smart Summon feature. But they show BMW's clear desire to continue iterating on and improving the M2 and other models running OS 8.5. So far, the regular monthly updates to our M2 have consisted of minor tweaks and bug patches, adding features such as a more intuitive navigation menu search bar, or making wireless phone mirroring more stable. Considering the laundry list of apps already included in our M2—such as a drift analyzer, for instance—we're not exactly clamoring for new features. That said, we eagerly await whatever BMW's software team comes up with. OTA updates can be downloaded automatically or manually either via the car's iDrive controller, or via the My BMW mobile app. Although our M2 is set for automatic software updates, we prefer using the latter mostly because of how great the app is. Unlike the laggy mobile apps from many legacy automakers, BMW's is snappy and intuitive. The home page shows an image of our M2 with the words 'ALL GOOD' behind it—presumably because all, for now, is indeed good—and we can see its fuel level and range, as well as control the locks, lights, and horn, and ventilate the cabin remotely. The latter is a particularly nifty feature since our six-speed manual-equipped M2 is unavailable with remote start, and this lets us precool or -heat our BMW's cabin before we hop in. The app has other functions, too. You can preplan road trips and send the information from your phone directly to the BMW's native nav system (a feature we'd be more inclined to use in an EV); find your car if you can't remember where you parked; and nerd out on the mileage, time, average fuel economy, carbon emissions, and average speed of your past drives. The app even gives you a Spotify year in review–like update at the end of every month, comparing your mileage and consumption to that of the average M2 owner. According to this, we're driving ours far more other owners. You can also subscribe to new features under the 'Connected Drive Upgrades' tab. No, BMW of North America isn't making us 'subscribe' to our M2's heated seats, but it was an interesting feature to stumble upon. Thus far, only one subscription service is available on our M2. Dubbed 'Traffic Camera Information,' this feature alerts drivers of nearby traffic enforcement cameras. We subscribed to a monthlong free trial via the app, and if we find it's a feature we can't live without, we can add full service for $25 per year. So far, the jury is out, but we'd likely find it more useful if our M2 was based in a locale with more camera traps. We're excited to see that our M2—like the EVs in our fleet—can be improved over time. One thing, however, that we hope doesn't change is how fantastic it is once we put phone down, turn off the screen, and just drive. More on Our Long-Term 2025 BMW M2:

Dealer-Built Shelby Dodge Viper Becomes One of the Most Expensive Ever Sold
The latest car news, reviews, and features. Finally, a near record-breaking auction that is actually deserved. The one-of-19 Shelby-themed Dodge Viper crossed the auction block to the tune of nearly $200,000, making it one of the most expensive Vipers ever. Carroll Shelby is synonymous with performance. So, when a vehicle carries his name, it's either good or blasphemous. Thankfully, it's the former with regard to the 'Carroll Shelby Limited Edition' Viper, a collaborative work of art between Shelby and Fitzgerald Motorsports. And of the 19 built, only two wore a white-striped blue suit. One of those rare blue beauties was sold via Hagerty Marketplace for $197,950, including the buyer's premium. That figure deserves a 'whew,' but it's no record in terms of Dodge Viper sales. Though it's very, very close. According to Hagerty , the distinction of priciest Viper goes to a 1998 Viper GTS GT2 Championship Edition. Sold through Bring a Traile r, its final sale price was $198,000 when including the $5,000 buyer's fee. Not as scarce as the Shelby, the GT2 Championship Edition is still a limited-run in its own right. The BaT example was number 90 of 100 produced and had just 1,900 miles on the odometer. Based on the Hagerty Valuation Tool, a standard 1996 GTS in 'concours' condition is worth $127,000. Given the exclusivity of both vehicles, however, scratching $200K is not a stretch. If anything, the auctions prove that the Viper—at least those that have been taken care of—can command a bidding war and garner solid six figures. Got a tip? Ford Releases the Bronco's Coastal Package Just in Time for Summer
Ford's new Coastal Package pays respect to the Bronco's heritage The Ford Bronco has received yet another styling package that calls back to the model's earlier days. The new Coastal Package is available for its 4-door Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, and Outer Banks trims, as well as the 2-door Bronco Base and Badlands trims. This performance upgrade kit doesn't touch the Bronco's powertrain. Instead, it centers around a two-inch lift, Bilstein shocks, and vintage-inspired styling. The styling cues include silver 17-inch wheels, a matching grille and fender flares, a Bimini top featuring a silver Bronco horse, and body graphics with a pastel gradient stripe on the shoulder line that nods to first—and second-generation Bronco models of the 1960s and 1970s. The Coastal Package, which is compatible with 2.3L and 2.7L engines, also includes a pro cal tool for speedometer accuracy with larger tires. Drivers can pair the Coastal Package with auto or manual transmissions, but the upgrade isn't compatible with the Sasquatch Package. While it may be an ideal fit for summer drives, some might take issue with its price tag. Beauty doesn't come cheap Owners of a 4-door Bronco Base, Big Bend, Big Bend with Black Diamond package, Outer Banks Series, and 2-door Base will pay $5,400, while a 4-door and 2-door Badlands Bronco driver can get the package for $2,850. The price discrepancy lies in the less-expensive version not featuring the pro cal tool and 2-inch suspension lift. Drivers can order the Coastal Package on the Ford Custom Garage website or add it to their new Bronco order. While the bundle doesn't include tires, it's designed around the 33-inch all-terrain tires from the Bronco Badlands, according to Ford. Drivers who purchase the Bronco's Coastal Package receive a 3-year or 36,000-mile warranty, whichever comes first, when the upgrade is installed by a Ford dealer or ASE/Red Seal certified technician. Final thoughts There's no doubt that the Coastal Package's $5,400 price tag isn't a small sum to pay, given that it doesn't include powertrain upgrades, but it may still find an audience with its distinct aesthetics and seasonal timing. One of the 2025 Bronco's special editions, the Stroppe Edition, boasts unique styling features showcased on stages like the 2025 New York International Auto Show. However, the Stroppe Edition Bronco starts at a hefty $75,635. Alternatively, drivers who don't want to fork over the money for a Stroppe Edition or pay $5,400 for a lifted Bronco Coastal Package can select the Bronco Big Bend's Free Wheeling Appearance Package, which adds red, orange, and yellow stripe side graphics reminiscent of 1970s and 1980s Bronco, F-150, F-100, and Econoline van models. In addition to dynamic graphics, the Free Wheeling Appearance Package contains painted steel wheels and black finishes on the grilles, mirrors, and bumpers, forming an appearance that's equally fit for the beach. Would you pay that much for the Coastal Package?
