2026 GMC Hummer EV SUV Review, Pricing, and Specs
Overview Now under GMC's stewardship, the Hummer brand is not shy about being extra. As such, the Hummer EV SUV goes big in some notable ways: mega horsepower numbers, tons of ground clearance and suspension travel, and a heap of tech features aimed at serious off-roading. Plus, everything about it simply looks imposing. Riding on a shorter wheelbase than its pickup sibling, the EV SUV is made even more maneuverable with four-wheel steering that enables the trick CrabWalk mode, which also has benefits when parallel parking. With range estimates topping out above 300 miles, this five-seat SUV has the ability to charge up quickly and plenty of juice to take the path less taken or handle a long road trip—if you can resist the urge to floor it everywhere. What's New for 2026? The big news for the 2026 Hummer EV SUV is more power (as if it needed it), but we don't yet know how much more. While the Hummer EV Pickup 3X's output jumps to 1160 horsepower from an even 1000, GMC hasn't released power figures for the 3X SUV, which currently sits at 830 horsepower. The 2026 Hummers get a new four-wheel-steering mode called King Crab that's supposed to enhance off-road maneuverability. And because the new feature is implemented in software, it can be added to prior-year Hummer EVs through an over-the-air update. GMC is also adding a Carbon Fiber Edition with—you guessed it—carbon-fiber exterior trim as well as full-carbon wheels that help drop the claimed 60-mph time to 2.8 seconds. It's available on the 3X trim and comes only in Magnus Gray Matte paint with a Velocity Ember interior color scheme. The updated Hummers are also now capable of bidirectional charging, targeting either another vehicle or a home. Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2026 GMC Hummer EV SUV is expected to start around $100,000 and go up to $108,000 depending on the trim and options. Hummer EV2X $100,000 (est) Hummer EV3X $108,000 (est) 0 $25k $50k $75k $100k $125k $150k $175k We'd stick with the EV2X, as its options are identical to the pricier EV3X's. The difference comes down to power, with the EV3X getting an extra motor that helps generate a lot more horsepower. The EV3X also comes with torque vectoring four-wheel drive. EV Motor, Power, and Performance The EV2X has a dual-motor setup that generates 570 horsepower and what GM claims is 7400 pound-feet of torque. The EV3X has a trio of motors (one up front and two out back) with a claimed 830 ponies and 11,500 pound-feet. However, we've already explained why those incredible torque claims are misleading. Compared with the pickup truck, the SUV has a shorter wheelbase (126.7 inches versus 135.6), which should make it more maneuverable in parking situations and out on the trails. It also inherits our favorite off-road goodies from the truck version, including four-wheel steering with CrabWalk and an adjustable air suspension with Extract mode that can raise it six inches. GMC also pulls at our heartstrings with a full-size spare tire mounted on the rear gate. Plus, there's an optional Extreme Off-Road package that brings special hardware that includes 18-inch wheels on 35-inch all-terrain tires, extra underbody protection, low-mounted cameras for improved visibility while maneuvering, enhanced axles with heavy-duty components, a locking front differential, and rear motors that can electronically mimic a locked diff. 0–60-MPH Times In our testing, the most powerful Hummer EV SUV hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, which is seriously quick for any machine, let alone one this big and heavy. It's likely to get even quicker thanks to the as-yet-undisclosed power boost coming for the 2026 3X model, especially if it's the new Carbon Fiber Edition fitted with composite wheels. View Photos GMC Range, Charging, and Battery Life We don't yet have numbers for the 2026 model, but the EPA estimates the 2025 Hummer EV SUV maxes out at 315 miles of range, with a low of 282 miles when equipped with mud terrain tires. We only saw 250 miles of range from its 170-kWh battery pack in our 75-mph highway test. Recharging can be quick, however. The SUV's 800-volt architecture gains 100 miles of range in 14 minutes using a DC fast-charger. In our testing, the Hummer SUV required 128 minutes to charge from 10 to 90 percent and averaged a pull of 78 kilowatts. Otherwise, GMC says that a level 2 charger replenishes the pack at up to 19.2 kilowatts, providing 30 miles of range in an hour. Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe The EPA hasn't released any fuel economy information for the 2026 Hummer EV SUV yet, but the most efficient 2025 model earned ratings of 59 MPGe city, 46 MPGe highway, and 53 MPGe combined. MPGe stands for miles per gallon of gas equivalent, an EPA metric that estimates PHEV and EV vehicle fuel efficiency. For more information about the Hummer EV SUV's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo The interior of the Hummer EV SUV is part rugged and part sci-fi. Its three-dimensional dashboard boasts both vertical and horizontal air vents and a pair of large displays that include a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Rather than frustrate users for the sake of appearances, the Hummer has lots of hard buttons and physical switchgear, including a thick T-shaped shifter and a rotary drive-mode selector on the center console. Some interior materials feel a bit too utilitarian; those lower down on the dash and door panels look and feel out of place in a vehicle this expensive. Another defining feature of the Hummer's cabin is its available removable roof panels. Called the Infinity Roof, the system allows users to lift off the four transparent Sky Panels and the I-bar above the front-seat passengers. Along with storage under the load floor, the SUV Hummer boasts an expansive 82 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seat folded, but the high cargo floor makes it tough to load heavy items. View Photos GMC Infotainment and Connectivity The Hummer's cutting-edge electric technology is complemented by a large 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and extensive connectivity options. The system can handle navigation, both on- and off-road. A 14-speaker Bose sound system comes standard, as does a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot and a wireless smartphone charging pad. The SUV Hummer is also available with a 6.0-kW onboard generator that can be used to power all sorts of equipment and even charge other EVs. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features The Hummer EV SUV comes with an enhanced version of GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving system, as well as a host of driver-assistance technology that currently graces many mainstream models. For more information about the GMC Hummer EV SUV's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include: Standard forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist Standard adaptive cruise control Warranty and Maintenance Coverage The Hummer EV SUV comes with a similar warranty to other General Motors products, which means three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage and five-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage. 2026 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Review, Pricing, and Specs
Overview It is immediately apparent that the GMC Hummer EV Pickup is built different. Its gargantuan form dwarfs anything that doesn't require a hard hat to operate, and it backs up its towering presence with equally impressive numbers. Despite weighing nearly five tons, the EV3X trim nullifies that weight via three electric motors with a combined output of 1000 horsepower. The 570-hp twin-motor EV2X model is no slouch either. With standard all-wheel drive, impressive off-road capability, and plenty of electric driving range on top of its physics-defying performance, the Hummer EV Pickup is a slap in the face to any conventionally-powered-pickup stans who think that electric trucks aren't macho or capable enough to take seriously. What's New for 2026? A new Carbon Fiber Edition joins the Hummer EV pickup's two other trims and is based on the top-tier EV3X model. Its name stems from its use of carbon bits, including black 22-inch carbon fiber wheels and carbon inserts in the mirror caps and on the skid plate. While the carbon parts are undoubtedly for aesthetic flair instead of meaningful weight savings, GMC says that the Carbon Fiber Edition will be the quickest Hummer EV yet. The company predicts that it will be capable of a ludicrously quick 2.8-second sprint to 60 courtesy of software optimization and propulsion calibration. GMC hasn't said how many Carbon Fiber Edition Hummer EVs it plans on making, only that the special variant will be available in limited quantities. The other Hummer EV trims get some updates, too. All 2026 Hummer EVs now support bidirectional charging, meaning they can be used as a massive portable battery to supply a home with power in the event of an emergency. GM's Super Cruise handsfree driving system also gets an update that lets it execute lane changes to follow a chosen route on Google Maps. Changes to damper tuning supposedly improve the Hummer EV pickup's ride, and an over-the-air update enhances the off-road capabilities of its four-wheel-steering Crab Walk mode. Two new paint colors—Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte—have been added to the order sheet, in addition to new Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse interior themes. Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2026 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is expected to start around $100,000 and go up to $120,000 depending on the trim and options. EV2X $100,000 (est) EV3X $108,000 (est) Carbon Fiber Edition $120,000 (est) 0 $50k $100k $150k $200k The Hummer EV3X costs significantly more than the EV2X, but we'd spend the additional coin to nearly double the horsepower and have the Watts to Freedom launch-control mode to impress our friends by enabling rocket ship-like takeoffs. We'd pass on the bigger battery pack and instead choose the Extreme Off-Road package. That drops the electric driving range but adds several features that will increase your enjoyment coefficient in the dirt. The separate Off-Road Readiness package adds a full-size spare tire that matches the other wheels and a vertical bed-mounted tire carrier. To maximize the enjoyment of our outdoor adventures, we'd also choose the available removable roof panels. EV Motor, Power, and Performance The Hummer EV Pickup currently offers either two or three electric motors. Both configurations come with all-wheel drive; the dual-motor setup has 570 hp and the tri-motor version whips up 1000 hp. While we were wowed by the Hummer EV's unearthly acceleration, we were disappointed by its braking performance. Slowing the massive machine to a stop from 70 mph took an extra-long 211 feet, and repeated runs resulted in noticeable brake fade. Yikes. Maneuverability at low speeds is better than expected, a direct result of the rear-wheel-steering system, but once you're up and running the Hummer EV is as unwieldy to drive as other lifted brodozers. 0–60-MPH Times The Hummer EV Edition 1 we tested had the 1000-hp powertrain, and it rocketed to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds thanks to its Watts to Freedom (WTF) launch control mode. That makes it one of the quickest pickups we've ever tested. And nothing this heavy (9640 pounds) is anywhere near this quick. GMC says that the new Carbon Fiber Edition will be even quicker somehow, with an estimated 0-60 time of just 2.8 seconds. To put that in perspective, if GMC's estimate reflects reality, the Carbon Fiber Edition will equal a C8 Corvette in a sprint to 60 mph despite being nearly three tons heavier. View Exterior Photos GMC Towing and Payload Capacity The Hummer EV pickup's maximum towing capacity is a stout 12,100 pounds, but that requires going with the 570-hp dual-motor powertrain. That exceeds the ratings for the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T, which are rated at up to 10,000 and 11,000 pounds, respectively. However, Hummers with three motors have a towing capacity between 7500 and 8500 pounds. During our towing test, pulling a 6100-pound double-axle camping trailer, the range of our Hummer EV dropped to just 140 miles at 70 mph. Range, Charging, and Battery Life The Hummer EV Pickup is available with two battery capacities. The EPA hasn't released range estimates for the 2026 Hummer EV Pickup yet, but last year's EV2X equipped with the standard 20-module pack was estimated to deliver 318 miles. With the same pack, the EV3X was rated for 312 miles of range. Opting for the Extreme Off-Road package reduced that estimate to 289 miles. The Hummer EV Edition 1 we tested on our 75-mph highway route traveled 290 miles on a full charge. It reached a peak charging rate of 287 kilowatts while connected to a DC fast-charger, but it only averaged 98 kW, and it took more than two hours to charge its large battery from 10 to 90 percent. GMC claims the Hummer EV pickup will add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes; we needed about twice as long. We'll update this story with updated EPA range estimates once the 2026 figures are released. Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe The Hummer truck's massive weight is the enemy of efficiency. The EPA hasn't released fuel economy estimates for the 2026 Hummer EV Pickup yet, but last year's most efficient two-motor model wore an EPA rating of 53 MPGe combined. We'll update this section with fresh 2026 estimates once the EPA releases them. For more information about the Hummer EV's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo The Hummer EV Pickup takes the form of a crew-cab truck with a five-foot-long bed. Interior materials could be of higher quality considering the Hummer's price tag and its cabin isn't as spacious as a GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab's. But the interior can be opened to the elements via optional removable roof panels that reintroduce a T-top-like design popular in GM sports and muscle cars in the 1970s and 1980s. When in place, the transparent panels are akin to a normal panoramic glass sunroof, but lifting them off and stowing them in the Hummer's front trunk gives the truck a convertible vibe similar to that of the Jeep Gladiator. Inside, several moon-inspired touches—such as a moon-boot footprint on the dead pedal and speaker grilles that show the Sea of Tranquility—serve as not-so-subtle reminders of GM's connection to NASA astronauts and the electrically powered Apollo 15 lunar rover that the company helped to engineer. View Interior Photos GMC Infotainment and Connectivity A large 13.4-inch display serves as the infotainment screen, and there's a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel as well. GMC contracted Epic Games—maker of the wildly popular Fortnite video game—to create the graphics for the Hummer EV's infotainment interface. The high-resolution screen and advanced graphics look great, but we noticed some pronounced lag that suggests the system doesn't have quite the processing power it needs to keep up with the software's capabilities. A host of connectivity features are standard, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and GM's OnStar telematics system. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving mode is a standard feature, and we've found it works quite nicely. Less advanced features such as lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring are also included. For more information about the Hummer EV's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. 2026 GMC Hummer EV Looks to Be Quicker and More Agile Off-Road
The 2026 GMC Hummer EV pickup and Hummer EV SUV add bidirectional charging to transfer energy from the vehicle to another EV or your home. There's a new off-road drive mode called King Crab that spins the rear wheels faster than the fronts and uses rear-wheel steering to improve agility. A new Carbon Fiber Edition adds, well, carbon-fiber trim but also drops the claimed zero-to-60-mph time to just 2.8 seconds for this 9000-pound beast. While the GMC Hummer EV is powered by electrons instead of a big V-8 like the Hummer H2 of the 2000s, it is undeniably a Hummer: colossal, braggadocious, and inefficient. For 2026, GMC is doubling down on the over-the-top Hummer vibe with a series of new features. The 2026 GMC Hummer EV—still available as a pickup truck and SUV—gains a new King Crab off-road mode, a blingy Carbon Fiber Edition, and bidirectional charging capability. GMC The new Carbon Fiber Edition comes exclusively in Magnus Gray Matte paint. You have likely seen the GMC "Push the Button" television advertisements showing off Crab Walk mode in the Hummer EV and Sierra EV, where the electric trucks utilize the rear-wheel steering system to drive diagonally at low speeds. Now, GMC is finding further use for rear-wheel steering with the new King Crab mode, which purports to improve off-road agility. This content is imported from Third party. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site. The King Crab mode makes the rear wheels turn notably faster than the front wheels, which GMC says leads to "more maneuverability when navigating tight spaces off-road." It's unclear if there are any other changes that GMC made to create this drive mode, but it is described as "software-enabled" and will also be available later this year to owners of 2022–'25 Hummer EVs via an over-the-air update. GMC The Carbon Fiber Edition wears Velocity Ember accents on the interior. For 2026, GMC also adds a new Carbon Fiber Edition to both Hummer body styles, though it's reserved for the EV3X model. All examples of this special model will feature exclusive Magnus Gray Matte paint and a Velocity Ember interior, along with all-terrain tires and black emblems; the pickup has a black power tonneau cover. Despite the name, GMC was fairly reserved with the application of carbon-fiber trim, with the lightweight material appearing on the special 22-inch wheels, side mirrors, and skid plate. The Carbon Fiber Edition should also be the quickest Hummer EV yet, with GMC claiming a zero-to-60-mph sprint of 2.8 seconds. That's 0.5 second quicker than the Hummer EV pickup we tested; the SUV was a tenth slower. The improvement is said to come from optimized software and newly calibrated hardware. GMC says production of the Carbon Fiber Edition will be limited, but it didn't provide a specific number of units. GMC The Granite Drift exterior color, seen here, is new for 2026. Along with those flashy add-ons, the 2026 Hummer EV gains a practical feature in bidirectional charging, allowing the Hummer EV to send energy to another compatible vehicle or a compatible home in the event of a blackout. GMC also enhanced the Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance system, with the automatic lane-change feature now able to sync up with your route when using the Hummer EV's built-in navigation system. GMC also says it retuned the Hummer EV's dampers to improve ride quality, and there are two new exterior paint hues (Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte) along with two new interior colors (Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse). Production of the 2026 Hummer EV will start later this year, but pricing is yet to be announced. We expect costs to rise slightly from the 2025 model's $99,045 base price.
