Ex-Arsenal star releases statement after being rushed to hospital with horror injury

Former Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson was hospitalised after picking up a horrendous injury while in action for Barrow and he has now spoken out with an update for supporters Ex- Arsenal star Carl Jenkinson has thanked doctors for their help after being rushed to hospital with an awful injury. The right-back was in action for League Two side Bromley over the weekend as they took on Millwall. ‌ His afternoon ended prematurely as he was left in agony after attempting to halt a Millwall attack. Medical staff rushed onto the pitch to treat the stricken star, who was given gas and air. ‌ The game was paused as Jenkinson was stretchered from the pitch, while he was then rushed to hospital after it was revealed that he had dislocated his hip. Jenkinson has now spoken out and has thanked doctors for their swift attention, while he has promised to return as soon as possible. ‌ In a statement shared by Bromley, he said: "Just wanted to put something out there to say a big thank you to the people who rallied around to help me on Saturday. The paramedics, doctors, nurses and everyone at PRU Hospital. It's only when you are in a time of need that you realise how incredible these people really are. 'Thanks to everyone at the club who has helped me through the last couple of days. Bromley is a football club that is growing very quickly but the soul of the club remains incredibly tight-knit and steadfast. 'Unfortunately these setbacks are part and parcel of the game we love, and you have to take the rough with the smooth. As you get a bit older you come to appreciate every second you have on the pitch, because you learn that in sport it can be taken away from you at any moment. ‌ 'I feel a deep sadness writing this knowing it's going to be a while until I can play again, but that pre-match feeling and the thought of stepping out onto the pitch with the boys again already gives me the fire in my belly to tackle this process head on. 'To my team mates, the Gaffer, the coaching staff, the Chairman, and everyone who works for Bromley, thanks for your love and support. I'll be back out there to play my part as soon as I can in what I know is going to be a great season. See you soon, Jenko.' ‌ Jenkinson, now 33, played 70 times for Arsenal between 2011 and 2019. He eventually departed for Nottingham Forest, while he has also had spells with Australian sides Melbourne City and Newcastle Jets. He signed for Bromley last season, playing 13 games across all competitions. Bromley kick off their League Two campaign against Shrewsbury Town away from home this Saturday.
