UNC chancellor 'delighted' at attention Bill Belichick has brought program

May 22 - North Carolina fully expected the hiring of NFL coaching legend Bill Belichick to put a spotlight on its football program. The fact that the coach's girlfriend has grabbed much of that spotlight has not dampened the school's enthusiasm, however. After all, there's no such thing as bad publicity, right? "We wanted when we hired Coach Belichick, to bring Carolina football to another level," UNC chancellor Lee Roberts said Thursday, according to a Charlotte Observer post on X. .".. We increased the price of our season tickets and we sold them out. ... We're delighted about all the attention being paid to Carolina football." As the 73-year-old Belichick, the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach of the New England Patriots, prepares for his first season in the collegiate ranks, much of the attention instead has gone to his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. According to reports, Hudson was perhaps overly involved in a "Hard Knocks" deal that fell through. She also sparked controversy during Belichick's April appearance on "CBS Sunday Morning" by interrupting the interview over questions about their personal life. Belichick has defended Hudson and recently insisted that she "doesn't have anything to do with UNC football." North Carolina officials may be delighted by the added attention, but the fans will want to see results on the field. The Tar Heels open the season against TCU on Sept. 1 in Chapel Hill, N.C. North Carolina finished 6-7 last season in coach Mack Brown's final campaign. The Tar Heels lost their bowl game for the fifth straight year. --Field Level Media

Bill Belichick reveals truth on Jordon Hudson viral email

(NewsNation) — Bill Belichick shed background on the email that went viral about his girlfriend Jordon Hudson's role with the University of North Carolina football team, according to a report. Belichick on 'The Pivot' podcast with ESPN's Ryan Clark last week said he requested that Hudson, 24, be copied on all emails sent to him because he had nobody to assist him at the time. 'We didn't have a sports information guy,' Belichick explained. 'Because all emails are shared publicly, that was taken as Jordon's running the sports information department. And that also led to a narrative, which is just totally — she's not doing it. I mean, there was nobody to help me sort it out, so I was asking her to do it.' WNBA investigating racial slurs by fans made at Angel Reese during Indiana game, AP source says Earlier this month, word had surfaced that Hudson had been banned from football facilities at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. That rumor was quickly negated by the university. 'While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities,' the school wrote in a statement. 'Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University.' NFL owners set to discuss tush push again, along with playoff and flag football proposals Belichick's relationship with Hudson has been raising eyebrows after a wide-ranging interview last month went sideways. Hudson shut down questioning when Belichick was asked questions about their relationship. Reports surfaced afterwards that she stormed off set numerous times, caused delays and interrupted the interview several times. Belichick and Hudson have been associated for nearly five years and are in a personal relationship. The two met while on a flight from Massachusetts to Florida in February 2021. They were seated next to each other and struck up a conversation. Hudson has been seen at several sporting and NFL-related events with Belichick. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Bill Belichick On Girlfriend Jordon Hudson's Role

You don't have to be a huge football fan to recognize the name Bill Belichick. He was undeniably a successful NFL coach with eight Super Bowl wins and a coaching career with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots that earned him a reputation as one of the greatest coaches in the game. However, the 73-year-old University of North Carolina football coach's relationship with his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, has dominated the more recent headlines. In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Bill elaborated on Jordon's role in his professional career and personal life, given that their public interactions raised a few eyebrows recently. For context, a clip of Bill's appearance on CBS Sunday Morning on April 27 went viral when Jordon interrupted the interview. When Tony Dokoupil asked how Bill and Jordon met, before he could answer, she interjected off-camera, saying, "We're not talking about this." When Tony asked why, Jordon said, "No." Based on this viral clip, and the couple's "weird" dynamic. On May 9, the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast added more to the conversation when he claimed that two sources said the University of South Carolina-Chapel Hill allegedly didn't allow Jordon inside the football facilities, although UNC denied the rumors. "While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities," UNC said in a statement shared with ESPN. "Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University. The podcast host also claimed that sources apparently said Bill's family was "extraordinarily concerned" with his relationship with Jordon. "Bill Belichick's family is extraordinarily concerned about what has transpired," Pablo alleged. "One Belichick family source told me, 'There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be for not just North Carolina but Bill's legacy, reputation — everything he has built and worked for over decades.'" But Bill can speak for himself, and he did just that. In his GMA interview, Bill said of their relationship, "She's been terrific through the whole process, and she's been very helpful to me. She does the business things that don't relate to North Carolina that come up in my life, so I can concentrate on football." According to Bill, Jordon has even helped with his book, The Art of Winning. "I acknowledged her in the book, she was very helpful in that with the tribute pages and also given a perspective of the book from kind of a business side." "Sometimes I get a little football technical she did a good job of keeping me on balance there," he said. Watch the Good Morning America interview below:

Jordon Hudson UNC ban drama surfaces with Bill Belichick's family deeply concerned

The drama surrounding Bill Belichick and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, is getting worse 'and weirder' amid the fallout from his disastrous 'CBS Sunday Morning' interview last month. During Friday's installment of 'Pablo Torre Finds Out,' Torre revealed an investigation into the matter and alleged a deep concern by Belichick's family that Hudson is ruining the UNC football coach's legacy, not to mention his reputation as one of the greatest coaches of all time. Advertisement 'There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be for not just North Carolina but Bill's legacy, reputation — everything he has built and worked for over decades,' one family source told Torre, who previously broke the news that Hudson used her power to force her way into Belichick's Super Bowl commercial with Dunkin' Donuts in February. Torre added that 'The family has been digging into Jordon Hudson as well in a parallel way. They are also in a rabbit hole.' Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson during the holidays in 2025. Advertisement North Carolina denied that was the case in a statement Friday, and noted that she was not associated with the university. 'While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities,' the statement read. 'Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University.' Last month, a viral video showed Hudson on the field with Belichick at a UNC practice. 'Don't think you'll be hearing much from Jordon moving forward,' one source said. Advertisement Torre said he spoke to 11 sources who've dealt directly with Hudson, a former cheerleader at Bridgewater State University. Katie Nolan and Michael Cruz Kayne also appeared in the episode to reveal the investigation's findings. Bill Belichick with Jordon Hudson at UNC in March 2025. Torre's investigation shed light on Hudson's reputation at North Carolina ever since Belichick, 73, brought her into the fold after signing a five-year, $50 million deal to be the school's football coach last December. Advertisement The whole situation has been a PR nightmare for UNC and Belichick, who has remained silent since releasing a statement defending Hudson for her viral interruption during his 'CBS Sunday Morning' interview on April 27, saying she was 'doing her job.' Jordon Hudson came under fire during boyfriend Bill Belichick's CBS interview in April 2025. CBS Belichick also said in the statement that he and Hudson are in a personal and professional relationship. The network's final edit of the interview included Hudson interrupting CBS' Tony Dokoupil's question about how the couple met. Belichick and Hudson, who said they met on a flight to Palm Beach in February 2021, went public with their relationship last June.

Bill Belichick says Jordon Hudson ‘doesn't have anything to do with UNC football'

'Alright so, I know that you're aware that your relationship with Jordon Hudson has been a headline over the last few months,' Williamson said. 'And all of the specifics aside, because I know a lot has come out in the last couple of days, how do you think that impacts your ability to coach this football team, if at all?' 'Yeah, you know, that's really off to the side,' Belichick replied. 'It's a personal relationship and she doesn't have anything to do with UNC football. I'm excited to be back in the coach's meetings and getting ready for June and then August when we get into training camp. So June will be a big recruiting month for us, and then August we'll start to get ready for the season.' Related : Advertisement Williamson pivoted to the impact that the ongoing narrative around Hudson could have on Belichick's players as they lay the groundwork for the 2025 season. Advertisement 'I know that you're not on social media and you don't read as much as everybody else as seen,' Williamson told Belichick. 'But when it comes to having conversations with your players, have you been able to talk about any of those things and the specifics of what's going on off the field?' 'Yeah, no, I talk to the players, you know, when we meet with them and when they come into visit and so forth, sure,' Belichick replied. 'And how have those conversations gone?' Williamson asked. 'Yeah, great. Again, we want to make the players the best that they can be, provide them the best opportunity on and off the field, and that's what we're about at UNC and that's what we do best for every single player we have,' Belichick answered. Related : Belichick and Hudson went viral after she interrupted Dokoupil when he asked Belichick how the couple first met. But several other concerns have surfaced following the awkward CBS taping, with UNC recently refuting a report from Meadowlark Media's Pablo Torre that Hudson was banned from the Tar Heels' football facility. 'While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities,' UNC's athletics department said in a statement Friday. 'Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University.' Torre — citing two unnamed sources at UNC — reported on his podcast, 'Pablo Torre Finds Out,' that Hudson was no longer welcome at the team facility. Torre stood by his initial report following UNC's statement. Advertisement 'UNC can now choose to describe or change its position on Jordon Hudson's involvement however it wishes, following the publication of our episode,' Torre said in a social-media post on Friday. 'We requested comment and filed dozens of FOIA requests that were not satisfied. And we stand by the specific reporting in our episode, which came from the highest levels of the football program.'
