White House Responds to Claims Donald and Melania Trump Are ‘Separated'

The White House has responded to biographer Michael Wolff's claims that Donald and Melania Trump are separated, calling them "blatant lies and fabrications." There has long been speculation about the Trumps' relationship as Melania Trump was notably absent during her husband's 2024 presidential campaign. The first lady has also made few appearances since the second Trump administration began in January. While Wolff's statements have reignited concerns about the president's marriage, the White House has issued a strong denial of his claims. Wolff, who has written several critical books about the president, told The Daily Beast Podcast on Tuesday: "They clearly do not in any way inhabit a marriage as we define marriage. And I think maybe we can more specifically say they live separate lives." "They are separated. The president of the United States and the first lady are separated," he added. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung dismissed Wolff's statement, telling The Independent that the Fire and Fury author was "a blithering idiot" who had been "widely discredited due to his blatant lies and fabrications." "He is an imbecile of the highest order and his Trump Derangement Syndrome-addled brain has caused him to lead a miserable existence devoid of reality," Cheung added. On May 7, The New York Times, citing two people familiar with Melania Trump's schedule, reported that the first lady had spent fewer than two weeks at the White House since her husband's inauguration on January 20. Sources told the outlet that the first lady was "deeply spooked" about the assassination attempts on her husband's life and what that meant for her family's safety. The first lady appears to spend most of her time in Trump Tower in Manhattan and at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. During the president's first term, Melania Trump waited months before she moved into the White House. She remained in New York with her son, Barron, who was 10 at the time, so he could finish the academic year at a private school in Manhattan. Ahead of the inauguration, Melania Trump told Fox News: "I will be in the White House. And, you know, when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. But my first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife. And once we are in on January 20, you serve the country." Paolo Zampolli, the former modeling agent who introduced Melania Trump to her husband in 1998, told The New York Times: "She loves the White House. And she loves the role of serving as our first lady." Melania Trump made a rare public appearance on May 8, joining the president for a Celebration of Military Mothers in the East Room of the White House. It remains to be seen when her next appearance will take place. Donald Trump visits Qatar without Melania and people have same theory

President Donald Trump arrived in the Middle East this week, but people have been quick to notice one key thing. It appears his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, is "missing" Donald Trump just became the first United States President to make an official visit to Qatar – but that's not necessarily why everyone's talking about him. The fact that First Lady Melania Trump has been absent during the trip has raised eyebrows – as some are wondering why the married couple don't seem to spend much time together. Writing on X, one person said: "Where is Melania? Does the Trump marriage have more problems than Russia / Ukraine?" Addressing the First Lady's absence, another said: "When he isn't golfing, Tweeting all night, he's up painting everything in gold gilt. Too busy for her." ‌ Meanwhile, a third added: "Not many people are as vain and in need of love as Trump. Yet, the only thing missing is Melania? Where could she be?" ‌ Suspicions have risen about the marriage after a journalist claimed President Trump and his wife are essentially "separated." During Tuesday's episode of The Daily Beast Podcast, Michael Wolff, alongside host Joanna Coles, talked about the controversial first few months of Trump's second administration, and also referred to Melania's lack of attendance in the White House. "They clearly do not in any way inhabit a marriage as we define marriage," Wolff said. "I think maybe we can more specifically say they live separate lives. They are separated. The President of the United States and the First Lady are separated." Amid the bold claims, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung branded Michael Wolff a "lying sack of s***." Last week, at the White House's Celebration of Military Mothers event, Trump seemed to be very taken with Melania, according to a body language analyst. Judi James, a communication expert, explained : "Trump is in the mode of a man who is smitten, chivalrous and even in awe here. His introduction ends with him calling her 'honey' as he invites her onto the stage, extending his hand to take hers before performing a reward kiss on her cheek." ‌ Donald and Melania Trump's relationship timeline The couple - who have been married since 2005 and share one son, 18-year-old Barron, had an odd first meeting. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar in January 2016, Melania admitted Trump approached her for her number despite being on a date with another woman. She revealed: "He wanted my number, but he was with a date, so, of course I didn't give it to him...I told you that I would call you, but I'm not giving you my number. Give it to me." A few days later, Melania called her future husband and expressed her amazement at his "sense of vitality" and "energy." The real estate tycoon was divorced from Marla Maples, his ex-wife, at the time. Soon after they first met, the couple started dating, and in April 2004, Donald proposed during the Met Gala. "That came as a huge surprise. At the time, Melania stated to the New York Post, "We are very happy together." ‌ The pair wed at Mar-a-Lago resort owned by the Apprentice alum – and had their son Barron in 2006. However, their relationship has seemed rather unconventional to some outsiders. According to Michael Wolff's book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, the couple slept in separate rooms at the White House - the first couple to do so since John and Jackie Kennedy. Trump also has a bizarre night time ritual, Wolff said - the president reportedly demanded a key to his bedroom, locking his wife and the secret service out so he could scoff cheeseburgers while watching three different televisions at once. Wolff also claims Trump likes to head beneath the duvet at 6.30pm. It is believed the former president prefers McDonalds and other fast food joints because he lives in fear of being poisoned. As fast food is already prepared he suspects it is a safer food source than other choices. Their relationship has also surprised many including the late Queen. According to claims in Craig Brown's book 'A Voyage Around The Queen'', weeks after one of Mr Trump's visits, she spoke about Trump during a lunch. The book claimed the Queen believed Mr Trump "must have some sort of arrangement" with his wife Melania as she mused over their relationship. The book also claims she is said to have "particularly disliked" the way he kept looking over her shoulder as if '"in search of others more interesting".
