‘Namma Bengaluru', says Anushka Sharma as hubby Virat touches down in the city with IPL trophy

Mumbai: The celebrations are getting bigger by the minute for Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, as the IPL team Royal Challengers Bengaluru for which her husband, Virat Kohli plays, has won its maiden title after a wait of 18 years. On Wednesday, the actress took to the Stories section of her Instagram, and shared a video of Virat holding the IPL trophy inside the bus as it waded through scores of fans in Bengaluru. A sea of fans erupted in front of the bus, Bengaluru local administration was seen trying very hard to contain the ever increasing crowd as the streets buzzed with excitement after RCB touched down in the city after travelling from Ahmedabad. The actress wrote on the video, 'Namma Bengaluru'. Last night, Anushka Sharma embraced her husband, who ran over to her with tears streaming down his face. Anushka hugged and congratulated her husband. The shutters of the cameras stationed at the stadium went all gun-blazing to capture the moment between the couple, a moment that will put its signature along the dotted line of the history of India's pop-culture in years to come. For Virat, the moment came a few weeks after he announced his retirement from Test cricket. One can only imagine the sense of accomplishment that must be running through Kohli's mind at the moment. Over the years, RCB has cultivated a loyal fanbase that has stood by the team game after game, season after season. With the maiden win coming after almost 2 decades, it has paid off enormously for them. Batting first, RCB mounted a score of 190 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs in the IPL final. Kohli was the top-scorer for RCB, as he scored 43 runs off 35 balls. Punjab pacers Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson shared six wickets between them. In response, Punjab Kings were off to a good start but lost momentum in the middle as the team fell short and finished with 184-7. Anushka, on her part, has been on a sabbatical with her last on screen appearance being in 2022 in 'Qala', where she was seen in a cameo appearance, and a full-fledged role back in 2018 release 'Zero'. The actress was set to make her return on the silver screen with 'Chakda 'Xpress', based on India's lead pacer Jhulan Goswami. However, the future of the film seems bleak, as there are no reports of its release in theatres.

Here's why Anushka Sharma's Chakda ‘Xpress hasn't released yet

When Anushka Sharma revealed her return to acting with Chakda 'Xpress, a biopic on Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, fans were excited. The film, slated for release on OTT platform Netflix, created significant buzz thanks to its compelling subject and Anushka's much-anticipated comeback. However, despite the initial hype, a few years have gone by without any update on the film's release. So, what caused the delay? Here's a deeper look into what went wrong with Chakda 'Xpress. Why Chakda 'Xpress hasn't released yet Former cricket player Jhulan Goswami told the Hindustan Times that she was unable to comment at this time because she did not have any information on the film's release. "Mereko aisa koi news nahi hai," she continued, "aur call mujhe kar rahe sab! (I don't have any such news) Comment nai karna mujhe koi." What the film's editor Manas Mittal said Chakda 'Xpress was initially expected to premiere on Netflix in October 2023. In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, the film's editor, Manas Mittal, revealed that the intended release was timed to coincide with the lead-up to the World Cup. However, as mid-September arrived with no announcements or promotional efforts from the team, Mittal realized something was wrong. 'It became evident that the release wasn't happening. Since then, there has been complete silence,' he remarked. It's a wrap on # soon 💙🎬🏏 Dibyendu Bhattacharya's take on the controversy A few months back, when questioned about why the Netflix movie Chakda Xpress hasn't been released yet, Dibyendu, who has acted in the film, mentioned that the filming was complete. "It's a very well-made film, but I don't know much either," he said. He added that, yes, the film is finished, and it has turned out to be excellent. In fact, he called it Anushka's best performance. However, he has no idea what will happen to the movie or when it will be released. All he can do is hope. He hasn't contacted the producers to find out why the release is being delayed. 'Is it a censor board issue? Are there no available screens? Is the film struggling to find a market? As of now, there has been no clear update,' he told Bollywood Bubble. Reportedly, there are rumours that creative differences and budget constraints led to problems between Netflix and Clean Slate Filmz, casting uncertainty over the film's future. However, no official statement has been made regarding any conflict. More about Chakda 'Xpress Abhishek Banerjee wrote the script for Chakda "Xpress, which was produced by Karnesh Sharma and directed by Prosit Roy under the Clean Slate Filmz label. Anushka Sharma's Chakda ‘Xpress stuck in limbo after Netflix fallout? Film's writer and editor reveal the reason

The Anushka Sharma-starrer Chakda 'Xpress, based on the life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, was supposed to mark her acting comeback after a long hiatus following the 2018 debacle Zero. However, Chakda 'Xpress, which was slated for release in 2023, remains stuck in limbo. In a recent interaction, the film's editor Manas Mittal and writer Abhishek Banerjee revealed the reason behind the delay, citing the fallout between Netflix and Clean Slate Filmz as the key factor keeping the film in perpetual limbo. During an interaction with The Hollywood Reporter India, Mittal shared that Chakda 'Xpress was supposed to release in 2023 before the World Cup, but its release was stalled. The report stated that the film faced trouble from the word 'go.' The film's first schedule was written in April 2020, but the COVID-19 lockdown thwarted those plans. During the lockdown, Anushka announced her pregnancy, the film's producer pulled out of the project, and its director, Prosit Roy, got busy with Paatal Lok. In 2022, however, the film got a new lease on life after Netflix came on board, and the film's format was changed to suit OTT viewing. The streaming platform didn't demand any changes to the film's script, revealed the film's writer Abhishek Banerjee. After Vamika's birth, Anushka underwent seven months of training for the film. Things went south after Netflix released a teaser for the film that wasn't cut from the actual footage but was taken from a look test that Anushka did for an agency. The teaser was widely panned by audiences. 'The scary part is that this teaser is the publicly available material from Chakda 'Xpress. Our film, though, has nothing to do with that,' Abhishek told THR. The debacle surrounding the teaser's release resulted in growing tension between Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix. For the unversed, Clean Slate Filmz is a production company established by Anushka and her brother Karnesh Ssharma. However, in 2022, Anushka stepped away from her production company. This was followed by Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix parting ways. While 'creative disagreements' and 'budgetary issues' are rumoured to be the reason for the fallout, neither entity has issued an official statement clarifying the situation. Not just Chakda 'Xpress, but another collaboration between them, Afghaani Snow, which stars Vijay Varma and Triptii Dimri, is also stuck in limbo due to the fallout. THR also stated that for these two films to release, Clean Slate Filmz would need to buy them out first. However, since Anushka has stepped away from the production house and taken a long break from acting after the birth of her children, the interest seems to have waned. A post shared by AnushkaSharma1588 (@anushkasharma) During the interaction, the film's editor Manas Mittal shared that he did manage to show the film to Jhulan Goswami, who teared up after watching it. He said, 'My biggest victory, though, is that we had the privilege of showing the film to Jhulan di last year. She was moved to tears. I told her, 'I hope we have done justice to the sport you have played, at least — if not you. She said she was proud of how we have shown cricket. That was my biggest takeaway.'

Though the film has already been completed, it's said to be currently stalled as producers search for a suitable release platform reportedly. The biopic, which marks Anushka's return to the big screen after a long hiatus, had generated significant buzz for portraying the inspiring journey of one of India's fastest women bowlers. However, recent whispers suggest that the release is now uncertain. When reached for a comment, Jhulan Goswami herself admitted she's in the dark about the film's status. 'Mereko aisa koi news nahi hai (I don't have any such news), aur call mujhe kar rahe sab! Mujhe koi comment nai karna," she said according to Hindustan Times. Chakda Xpress was reportedly slated for a Netflix release in October 2023. In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, the film's editor Manas Mittal revealed that the plan was to drop the film 'just before the World Cup." However, as mid-September rolled around with no word from the team and no signs of a promotional campaign, Mittal sensed something was off. 'It was clear that it was not coming out. Since then, there has been total silence," he said. Rumour has it that Chakda Xpress ran into trouble because of creative differences and budget concerns between Netflix and Clean Slate Filmz.
