Jab Aap Khud Kuch Nahi Jeete...: Gautam Gambhirs Old Clip On Ravi Shastri Resurfaces After Indias 7th Loss In 9 Tests Under His Coaching

India suffered an embarrassing defeat against England in the first test at Headingley, Leeds. This was the first game of the five match test series in England and the first test marked a new era under newly appointed test captain Shubman Gill. This loss was India's 7th loss in the last 9 tests where they managed to win just 1 game. This was all under Guatam Gambhir's coaching and after the loss a clip of him calling out Ravi Shastri for his SENA performances resurfaced in social media. Shastri served as the head coach of the Indian men's cricket team from 2017 to 2021. He was reappointed in 2019 after his initial appointment in 2017, with his tenure extended until the end of the 2021 T20 World Cup. As a cricketer he was a part of the iconic 1983 World Cup winning team and player of the series of World Championship of cricket India won in 1985. Gambhir's talking to News 18 in 2018 said- 'I'm sure that people who haven't won anything give these kinds of statements. I don't know what Shastri has achieved in his career apart from winning the World Championship in Australia. I don't think he was a part of an overseas series win. If you haven't won anything yourself, you end up giving this kind of statement. I'm sure people wouldn't have taken this seriously. I'm sure he must not have seen enough cricket. If he had he seen enough cricket, he wouldn't have given that statement". "It was very childish. Even if you had won 4-1, you won't say this is the best Indian team touring abroad. You would still stay humble and say we want to take this, we want to go forward, we want to keep improving. You wouldn't say this is the best Indian team ever overseas. This is childish. I'm sure people wouldn't have taken this seriously. I don't know about other people but I didn't take it seriously because it was a very immature statement," he added. Here's how Gautam Gambhir verbally insulted former coach Ravi Shastri after Shastri said, 'We now have the best overseas we team in the last 15 years.' — Vipin Tiwari (@Vipintiwari952) January 5, 2025 Notably India lost 4-1 against England in 2018 under Ravi Shastri but did the unthinkable winning Border Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 for the first time down under. The same Shastri also coached the team that pulled off another series win down under this time with the weakest squad and new faces minus Virat Kohli. In Shastri's tenure India failed to win an ICC trophy But came very close to winning the 2017 Champions trophy and 2019 World Cup. India with Gambhir as a coach - Lost the Test series vs NZ at home - Ended the 12 year Test series win streak - Lost BGT after 12 years - Failed WTC Final qualification Apart from the Champions Trophy 2025 win under his tenure the former batter is having a horrendous run as an Indian head coach.

The selectors had earlier said Bumrah won't play all five matches due to workload management. 'Not decided which 3 Tests Jasprit Bumrah will play. Lot will depend on the results and where the series is heading,' Gambhir said. 'We have picked enough bowlers. Lot of our of pacers are in great space to win us Test matches from any position. I am under exactly the same pressure irrespective of results,' he said. Karun Nair's County experience will help Gambhir praised Karun Nair for his good form and experience playing in England's domestic County circuit. Nair received a Test call-up after 8 years. The last time he played for India was against Australia in 2017. 'It's great for domestic cricket. It's always great to have players who have played country cricket. He got a double hundred for India A. We will not judge him on 1-2 matches. You guys can, we will not,' Gambhir said. Gambhir reacts to Bengaluru tragedy Gambhir also spoke about the stampede in Bengaluru that killed 11 people during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL 2025 victory celebrations. Gambhir condemned the incident, saying that he was never a believer in roadshows. 'I was never a believer that we need to have roadshows. Even when I was playing, I had the same statement – when we won the 2007 T20 World Cup, I was of the opinion that we shouldn't have roadshows. (The) life of people is far more important," Gambhir said. 'If at all there is need for a celebration, it can be held in a closed-door environment or inside a stadium. It is very tragic what happened yesterday and my heart goes out to those who have lost their loved ones. Hopefully in future, nothing like this happens because we are responsible citizens and we should take care of all this,' he added. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

LSG is the team KL Rahul would be wanting to perform against: Cheteshwar Pujara

India batter Cheteshwar Pujara feels KL Rahul would want to score against his former team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as Delhi Capitals take them on in their next fixture on Tuesday, April 22. Rahul captained LSG for three seasons and led them to the playoffs twice before the franchise decided to release him ahead of the mega auction for the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025).advertisementHe was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) in the mega auction for Rs 14 Crore and has been having a prolific season for them. In the six innings played in the ongoing edition so far, Rahul has scored 266 runs at an average of 53.20 with two half-centuries to his name. Ahead of DC's fixture against LSG, Pujara mentioned that Rahul would be keen to score against Lucknow.'I think as a professional cricketer you try and move on from what has happened in the past, but at the same time there's a little bit which always plays in your mind. So this is the team he might be wanting to perform against, but not a lot. I would say that even if it is, it'll be just 10-20% which might play on his mind, but apart from that, I don't think he will be thinking too much about performing against LSG,' Pujara said on Furthermore, Pujara mentioned how Rahul has looked a different player this season as he's batting with a lot more freedom and is not carrying any extra baggage.'With the way he's batting, it is definitely different. He has a bit more freedom, the kind of shots which he's playing, it looks like he has gained a lot of confidence from Champions trophy and the way he is performing across formats, so he is definitely a confident player now. There were times where he was carrying a lot of baggage, but now he has cleared all those things, and now he's in his zone. So in that way I would say emotionally he's a lot more balanced. There are times where he thought a lot about what was happening outside the bubble, which I'm sure he is not doing it now,' he played crucial knocks for India during their victorious run in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as he took the team over the finishing line with his handy contributions in the middle order. He accumulated 140 runs from four innings at an average of 140 and a strike rate of 97.90.
