'Not decided which 3 Tests': Gautam Gambhir reveals Jasprit Bumrah will not play all 5 Tests in England

Former India cricketer and current head coach Gautam Gambhir has revealed that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not play all five Test matches in the upcoming England series. Gambhir and India's new Test captain Shubman Gill addressed the media on Thursday, where they touched upon various things.

When asked about Bumrah's availability for the five-match Test series against England, Gambhir clarified that the Indian pacer will not play all five matches. He said that Bumrah will play only three Tests, and it has not yet been decided which ones he will take part in.

'Not decided which 3 Tests Jasprit Bumrah will play. Lot of that will depend on the results and where the series is headed,' Gambhir said.
He added that India has picked enough bowlers for the series and many pacers are in good form. 'Lot our of pacers are in great space to win us Test matches from any position. When you have someone like Jasprit Bumrah, depending on how many matches he plays, will be a great sight for us.'
Gambhir also said it is difficult to replace Bumrah but the Indian team has enough quality players in the squad. 'It's difficult to replace Jasprit Bumrah but I said during Champions trophy, we have enough quality.'
The five-match Test series between India and England is scheduled to start on 20 June in Headingley. It will mark the start of the new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) for India.

Gukesh's playing approach in the tournament saw him put pressure on opponents till the last moment and force them to make a blunder in time scramble moments. It happened in his Round 6 clash with Carlsen, which the World No. 1 lost and ended up slamming his table in anger. But before Gukesh's final round clash vs Caruana, Viswanathan Anand had a word of advice for Gukesh, and it looks like the chess legend was right. Speaking during an interaction, he praised Gukesh's approach of playing poorly and then putting his opponents under time pressure. But Anand also felt that it could but him in a disadvantageous position. 'Both these games he played (against Carlsen and Erigaisi were played) extremely poorly. If that's a conscious decision to provoke a struggle, I would be alarmed,' he said. 'It tells me that he's an amazing fighter (and) at the same time, I would not be happy if he defended in this way,' he added.

The interviewer asks him if he has a friend who he can call when the chips are down and he wants to rant. 'I may sound condescending but I don't need to call. In the last 10 years, I have seen everything. I have got answers for everything,' he says. Though, his friends are there for him for a very uniquely different task. On Shreyas's instructions, they send him a new English word everyday so he can increase his vocabulary. Superfluous, sinecure and talisman are the recent additions to his personal word bank, he says with pride. Shreyas is a one-of-a-kind. Once during this IPL he was asked about the preparation of his team. It's a query that deserves a cliche but not when Shreyas has the mic in hand. 'We need to dot the 'i's and cross the 't's,' he said. In 2025, the dotting and crossing has been finally done. This IPL, Shreyas became the Sarpanch. He has acted like a headman and he would hope that his village will be the world.
