"Delhi suffered 11 years of misgovernance, now seeing results of 100 days of good governance," BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia
New Delhi [India], June 2 (ANI): BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia has praised the BJP-led Delhi government's 100-day performance while launching a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for what he called eleven years of misgovernance. Chandolia highlighted improvements in sanitation, healthcare, and transport, claiming the current administration has delivered visible change in contrast to the AAP government's alleged failures. Speaking to ANI, Chandolia said, 'Delhi suffered eleven years of misgovernance, and now it's seeing the results of a hundred days of good governance. In just one monsoon, work that was neglected for over a decade is finally being done--silt is being cleared from roads and drains that were never cleaned before.' Chandolia alleged that fake billing was rampant during the AAP government's tenure, while basic services like drinking water remained out of reach for many citizens. 'Under the previous government, fake billing thrived while citizens struggled for drinking water,' he said. Aiming at AAP's unfulfilled transport promises, he said, 'Kejriwal had promised 10,000 electric buses in eleven years. Still, it is under the BJP-led government that new buses are being delivered.' He also accused the AAP government of depriving citizens of vital healthcare benefits. 'Due to Kejriwal's refusal, the people of Delhi were denied the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Today, citizens above 70 years receive health insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh through a combined effort of the Prime Minister's and Delhi government's schemes.' He added, 'The previous government boasted about a health and education model but failed to equip hospitals with basic facilities like diagnostic machines. In contrast, within a hundred days, visible change has begun.' He also underscored improvements in sanitation and waste management. 'Garbage piled up for years is being removed from the streets and drains. The landfill mountains in places like Ghazipur are finally shrinking. If this progress continues for 365 days, Delhi will truly witness a transformation into a cleaner, more beautiful capital,' he said. Earlier, BJP leader Mohan Singh Bisht praised the transformative first hundred days of the BJP-led Delhi government, highlighting significant achievements and a proactive approach that has restored public trust after 27 years. He credited Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for demonstrating strong willpower in driving Delhi's development while criticising the AAP for continuing to suppress public voices in the Assembly. After completing 100 days in office as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta said it was not just a responsibility but a 'politics centred on public service, and policies that are for public welfare.' Explained: Why did a court direct framing of charges against Delhi BJP MP Yogender Chandolia?
A Delhi court on Saturday had ordered the framing of charges against Yogender Chandolia, the BJP MP from Northwest Delhi, in a case where he was accused of allegedly assaulting a public servant in the Capital in 2020. While discharging Chandolia under section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) IPC, the court directed framing of charges under sections 341, 353, 356 and 34 (wrongful restraint, assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) of the IPC. What is the case? In 2020, an FIR was registered against Chandolia at the Prasad Nagar police station. The complainant in the case was a traffic policeman, Head Constable Raj Kumar. He alleged that on October 7, 2020, he was stopped by the MP from 'discharging his duty' near Shiv Mandir in Karol Bagh. Earlier that day, the Prasad Nagar Police Station had received a call that a group of people had 'blocked a crane'. Kumar was on 'crane duty', lifting vehicles that were parked improperly. As per his complaint, he pointed towards a scooter that was improperly parked. Following this, Kumar alleged, the BJP MP started shouting at him, asking why he wasn't lifting other cars that were not parked properly. Kumar claimed that Chandolia blocked the crane, abused him, and 'incited' people to gather at the spot. After this, Kumar alleged, he took out his phone to record the incident. Chandolia allegedly tried to snatch his phone and pulled him down as he was trying to board the crane. Kumar further alleged that an 'unknown accomplice' of Chandolia snatched his mobile phone. During the investigation, two pen drives containing CCTV footage of the incident were seized by the police. What did the court rule? Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Neha Mittal of Rouse Avenue Court, in her order dated May 3, noted the 'existence of common intention'. 'The fact that the accused had earlier tried to snatch the mobile phone of the complainant and that, later on, the said mobile phone, though snatched by a third person, was kept by the accused, shows the existence of common intention, which might have developed at the spot, between the accused and the snatcher. These facts prima facie show the commission of the offence…,' the ACJM said. Chandolia's counsel, on the other hand, had argued that no CCTV footage of the incident had been procured, which 'cast a shadow of doubt on the case of prosecution'. The lawyer also argued that the accused was a public representative and was protesting against the unlawful conduct of the traffic police.

Delhi court charges bjp mp for assaulting cop
A Delhi court on Saturday formed charges against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member of Parliament YogenderChandolia for assaulting a public servant on duty in 2020. The incident took place on October 7, 2020 when Chandolia, now a BJP Lok Sabha MP from northwest Delhi, allegedly got into a scuffle with a traffic police officer on crane duty, over removal of wrongly parked vehicles in Prasad Nagar area. The additional chief judicial magistrate Neha Mittal of Rouse Avenue Court framed charges under IPC sections 186 (obstructing public servant in the discharge of his public functions), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 353 (assault to deter a public servant from discharge of their duty) against Chandolia after noting that his actions amounted to using criminal force on the traffic officer, also the complainant in the case. 'It is alleged that when the complainant tried to board the crane, the accused tried to pull him down. Statement of witnesses have been recorded by police…the said allegation amounts to using criminal force,' judicial magistrate Mittal said. Further, the court noted that the complainant is a public servant and the said act constituted the offence of assault to obstruct a public servant from performing official duties. Chandolia's lawyer had argued presence of 'material loopholes' in the police case as there was no CCTV footage of the incident nor any independent witnesses who could corroborate the allegations. It was further argued that there was a verbal confrontation between the complainant and the accused, which does not constitute a physical assault. The traffic officer alleged that Chandolia incited people against him and Chandolia's associates snatched his phone after the officer tried to record a video of the incident. Chandolia was granted bail in the case on January 8 this year after he was summoned in the case.

Delhi court directs framing of charges against BJP MP Yogender Chandolia for assaulting public official
A Delhi court on Saturday ordered the framing of charges against BJP MP Yogender Chandolia in a case where he was accused of assaulting a public official in the Capital in 2020. The complainant in this case was head constable Raj Kumar, who alleged that the MP had stopped him from discharging his duty by pulling him down from a crane. Chandolia's associate had allegedly snatched his phone, the complainant had claimed, adding that the MP used abusive language directed towards him. 'The facts that the accused had earlier tried to snatch the mobile phone of the complainant and that later on, the said mobile phone, though snatched by a third person, was kept by the accused, shows the existence of common intention, which might have developed at the spot, between the accused and the snatcher. These facts prima facie show the commission of offence punishable under Section 356/34 IPC,' said Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal of the Rouse Avenue Court in her order dated May 3. 'In view of the above discussion, accused Yogender Chandolia is discharged u/s 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) IPC and prima facie case for offences punishable u/s 341/353/356/34 (wrongful restraint, assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) IPC is made out against the accused,' she added. Chandolia's counsel had argued that no CCTV footage of the incident had been procured, which 'cast a shadow of doubt on the case of prosecution'. The lawyer had also argued that the accused was a public representative and was protesting against the unlawful conduct of the traffic police.
