Guardian Minister announces Rs10cr grant for PM Shri School in Chanda

1 2 3 4 Chandrapur: Guardian minister and state tribal development minister Dr Ashok Uike has announced a grant of Rs10 crore for the PM Shri Savitribai Phule primary and high school run by the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation (CMC). He emphasised that the school has emerged as a centre of academic excellence, drawing increasing enrolments every year, and now required urgent expansion to cater to students' needs. His announcement came while addressing a Tiranga Rally organised under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign on Independence Day. Chandrapur municipal commissioner Vipin Paliwal pointed out the remarkable growth of the institution. "In 2012, the school had only 70 students, while today the strength has risen to 1,100. This growth has been accompanied not just by numbers but also by a strong focus on academic quality," he said. Dr Uike assured that the Rs10 crore grant would be provided through the District Mineral Fund (DMF). The funds will be directed towards constructing new classrooms, providing furniture, setting up modern laboratories, promoting digitalisation, and developing sports infrastructure. He further directed the civic body to prepare an action plan by the end of this month, with the proposal to be approved and funds released in the following month. Local MLA Kishor Jorgewar praised the civic body for running a school of such quality. He stressed that with over 1,100 students enrolled, the school required at least 36 classrooms but currently has only 20 functional ones. He sought adequate funding not just for this school but also for the holistic development of other municipal schools on similar lines. Chandrapur takes step towards heat and flood risk reduction

1 2 Chandrapur: The Chandrapur Municipal Corporation (CMC) has signed a three-year agreement with the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) India to implement heat and flood mitigation initiatives. The project, supported by Tata Trusts, aims to make Chandrapur a climate-resilient and inclusive city. As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the project will focus on heat and flood risk reduction, using a blend of data-driven strategies and on-ground action. One of the key highlights of the programme is the retrofitting of over 200 low-income homes with passive cooling technologies — simple but effective techniques that help keep homes cooler during scorching summers, without depending on electricity or air conditioning. The collaboration will also involve scientific tools like Urban Heat Island (UHI) mapping, Land Surface Temperature (LST) analysis, and Hazard Vulnerability Risk Assessment (HVRA) to identify the city's most vulnerable areas. These insights will guide practical solutions to reduce risk and improve urban design. The project will include studies to guide long-term flood mitigation strategies. Practical measures such as installing permeable paver blocks and recharge wells will help manage storm water and reduce flooding. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 30 Breathtaking Drone Photos You Wouldn't Believe Are Real Undo Through the Community Emergency Response Training (CERT), residents will be trained as first responders to climate emergencies, building local preparedness from the ground up.
