Notices to contractor, consultant, 4 NMRDA officials in Koradi slab collapse
1 2 Nagpur: The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has sent notices to the contractor firm BBG, Project Management Consultants (PMC), and four of its own officials on Monday, as two separate probes started into the slab collapse at the construction site of the VIP entrance at Koradi temple on Saturday. The officials have to reply to the notices, which ask why action should not be taken against them, within 24 hours. NMRDA has appointed a committee of four experts to conduct an independent inquiry into the matter. A separate committee under the district collector has been set up on the directions of revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. Sixteen workers, including four supervisors, had been injured in the slab collapse at the construction site of a gate as part of the development works at the Koradi temple pilgrimage site. Even as investigations into the cause of the accident are starting, NMRDA on Monday announced Rs1 lakh aid to those injured, and Rs2 lakh to the seriously injured workers. Guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has ordered an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of collector Vipin Itankar. This committee includes executive engineer Rajesh Sontakke (water resources department), chief engineer Sambhaji Mane (public works department), superintending engineer Manish Patil, and expert RK Ingle (VNIT). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo Bawankule has directed completion of the inquiry and submission of a report within 30 days. NMRDA has also initiated action by appointing an independent committee. The panel will consider the fact that when the slab casting work started at night, no representative of NMRDA or the consultant was present at the site. The NMRDA committee is headed by superintending engineer Abdul Javed (NMRDA), and includes executive engineer Lalit Raut, and deputy director of town planning Supriya Thul. This committee will submit its report within a week. Discussions about suspending some officials were underway in administrative circles on Monday, reliable sources from NMRDA said. Sources also said that an official decision in this regard will be taken in the next two days. "The slab work was 80% complete. Suddenly the slab started moving. Before we could understand anything, we all fell on the safety net. However, Naresh Baghel fell on the road from a height and was injured seriously. I had an injury to my waist. I was discharged from hospital on Monday, and doctors have advised rest," said an injured worker, Mukesh Vindane. Dharmendra Patle, brother-in-law of seriously injured worker Naresh Baghel (age 30 years), said Baghel had been working in the construction sector for 6 years. Baghel underwent a surgery for his head injury, and has serious injuries to his hands and legs too. Currently, he is in ICU. "Company officials are ensuring treatment is done at their expense. Baghel was the sole earner in the family comprising his mother, wife and seven-month-old daughter. Though originally from Balaghat, the family lives on rent at Jaripatka," said Patle. No blanket farm loan waiver, only the most distressed to get it: Bawankule
1 2 Nagpur: The Maharashtra govt is preparing to roll out a targeted loan waiver scheme for distressed farmers, with revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule asserting that only the most deserving will receive the relief. "The loan waiver will not be given to all farmers. It will be based on genuine need and merit," Bawankule told reporters in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Thursday, emphasizing that the state remains committed to fulfilling the pre-election promise made by the BJP. "We have not backed out. The promise still stands, and we will ensure it is implemented for those who truly need it," Bawankule added. The govt has constituted a committee to conduct a comprehensive survey across Maharashtra to identify eligible beneficiaries, Bawankule said. The final roadmap will be drawn up after the panel submits its report. "The objective is clear: help must reach the last person in the queue, and only those in actual need will be considered," he added. The loan waiver issue has remained a thorny subject within the Mahayuti coalition, led by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and his deputies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. The alliance pledged a blanket farm loan waiver ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections, but nearly nine months into power, the plan remains on paper. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo This delay has invited criticism from the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which has accused the BJP-led govt of betraying farmers. Bawankule's remarks suggest the govt is now opting for a more calibrated approach instead of a blanket waiver, aiming to balance fiscal prudence with agrarian distress relief. Govt panel to conduct survey to identify farmers in need of loan waiver in Maharashtra, says BJP minister Bawankule
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Maharashtra govt has formed a committee to conduct a survey to identify farmers who really need a loan waiver, revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Thursday. Talking to reporters in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, he said the exercise to list farmers who actually need a loan waiver and weed out cultivators who are not eligible for such reliefs will be completed soon. "There are people who construct farm houses and are on the list of loan waivers. A committee has been formed to find the actual needy farmers. A survey will be conducted through this committee and the needy farmers will be listed for loan waiver," stated the BJP minister. "The EVM is good when they win and it is bad when they lose elections. Leaders from opposition parties are joining us [BJP] from various parts of Maharashtra. This [EVM manipulation claim] is also an effort to stop their party workers [from joining other outfits]," he said. In reply to a question, Bawankule sought to downplay deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde's frequent New Delhi visits. "As a leader of the [BJP-led] NDA alliance, it is obvious [for Shinde] to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. If co-ordination or dialogue is not good, then we cannot move ahead. Dialogue and discussion on issues is important in the NDA," the BJP leader emphasised. Maharashtra government sanctions funds to acquire rovers for land survey
MUMBAI : The Maharashtra government on Wednesday approved a Rs 1,732 crore plan to modernize land survey operations and strengthen the infrastructure of the revenue and land records departments. As part of the plan, Rs 132 crore will be allocated for the purchase of 1,200 advanced rovers for speedy land measurement under the e-Survey 2.0 project . Additionally, Rs 1,600 crore has been sanctioned for new office buildings and residential quarters for revenue officials, said a statement issued by revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule's office. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar at the state secretariat. Bawankule, who proposed the upgradation, said the new rovers would significantly accelerate land survey operations. The government intends to procure 4,000 rovers and the first batch of 1,200 will be acquired immediately. The rovers will help deliver digital 'C' copies of land maps to citizens in a timely manner, the statement said. Bawankule also highlighted the need for high-performance vehicles for district collectors, deputy collectors and tehsildars, especially to aid in effective action against sand mafias. He also recommended that land records offices be located close to collectorates to streamline operations. Pawar approved Rs 1,500 crore for new revenue offices and an additional Rs 100 crore for land records department facilities. He also directed that the procurement process for rovers begin immediately. With the implementation of e-Survey 2.0 across Maharashtra, land survey maps ('C' copies) are now being provided to citizens in a digital form. The addition of 1,200 rovers in the first phase will help boost the pace and accuracy of this work, the release said. Instructions were also issued to complete the pending Registration Bhavan project in Pune within the current month, it said.

Maha govt plans crackdown on those blocking village access roads
Nagpur: Maharashtra is preparing a state-wide blueprint to strengthen farm and village access roads, with strict penalties under consideration for individuals obstructing such projects. Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Wednesday announced that the plan, being drafted by a high-powered committee, will be finalised and presented to the state cabinet by the end of September. The committee, comprising ministers, MLAs, and senior officials from the revenue, rural development, and employment guarantee departments, held its first meeting in Mumbai. "We will hold three rounds of discussions before delivering a concrete, actionable plan to the cabinet by September. The success of this initiative will depend greatly on the support and cooperation of MLAs," Bawankule said after the meeting. One of the strongest appeals came from MLA Abhimanyu Pawar, who urged punitive measures against individuals blocking road construction despite overwhelming community support. "If 90% of farmers agree to a road project, it should not be stalled by 10% opposition. The cost of construction should be recovered from such objectors, and if necessary, action taken under Section 353," Pawar said. Rural development minister Jaykumar Gore supported the call for incorporating such provisions into law. Funding emerged as a central concern during discussions. MLA Satyajit Deshmukh proposed creating a separate budget head for these projects and exploring resources from the Employment Guarantee Scheme and District Planning Committees. Officials suggested that a clear and sustained funding stream would be essential to ensure uninterrupted execution. Settlement commissioner for land records Suhas Diwase proposed that all rural access roads be formally documented in the 7/12 land records, with boundaries clearly defined and survey numbers assigned. He also suggested vesting ownership with the revenue department to prevent encroachment and streamline maintenance. To improve efficiency, MLA Hemant Patil recommended that project execution powers be shifted from gram panchayats to tehsildars, ensuring faster decision-making. He also called for a minimum road width of six metres and year-round usability standards. Employment guarantee minister Bharat Gogawale described the plan as "critical for empowering farmers and improving rural livelihoods," while minister of state for finance and planning Ashish Jaiswal suggested completing implementation within two years. MLAs Mahesh Shinde, Anil Patil, Randhir Savarkar, Sumit Wankhede and MLC Parinay Fuke also put forward key inputs aimed at strengthening the framework before it is presented to the cabinet next month.
