Charlie Wernham Breaks Silence After Robbie's Heartbreaking 'Hollyoaks' Exit originally appeared on Parade. Hollyoaks fans are in mourning after todays episode of the hit soap opera aired in the U.K. as it was confirmed that after 12 years, on and off the show, Robbie Roscoe (played by the fan favorite Charlie Wernham) was killed off. Now the actor has spoken about returning to the show, when he found out his exit storyline, and what he has coming soon. After weeks of speculation, viewers worst fears were confirmed, and it was revealed that the Robbie Roscoe they had been seeing in Jez (Jeremy Sheffield) was a figment of his imagination and that Robbie was yet another of Jez's victims. Wernham spoke with Digital Spy about his recent experience on the show. When Wernham returned to the soap last year it was only meant to be a short stint. 'At first I was only meant to do three months – that was why Robbie went off screen the first time, back at the start of last year. I had a job that was going to go ahead but then it didn't, so my diary became available.' The actor shared how the show approached him about returning again explaining, 'Hannah Cheers, who's the producer of Hollyoaks, said that she'd love to have me back for another 12 months. It was quite a big thing to relocate again, as I've got a life down here in Essex, so I said that it would probably only be for the year." When asked about his feelings about the current exit storyline, Wernham shared, 'The thing is, I never thought I'd be returning to the show in the first place. I just thought that too much time had gone by – and I was really busy doing other things anyway. I've now had a brilliant 15 months and I've done it exactly how I wanted to do it.' With that said, while the door appears to be closed with Robbie' s death, Wernham jokingly adds that this may not be the last time we see his character sharing, "I think that'll probably be it for Robbie, but then again Clare was dead and she's now back. Loads of people have died and come back. So is Robbie dead? Who knows? It's Hollyoaks! Wernham explained how he found out about what his exit storyline was going to be, sharing, "Si Wall, who's a producer on the show alongside Hannah, told me about it very cagily. He didn't know what my reaction was going to be, because it's all a bit bonkers when you say it out loud! It was a lot to take in!" The actor continued, "I sat with it and thought about it. Afterwards, I said that we really had to make the audience believe that Robbie was alive in that shed. Once the flashback and big reveal happens, you're only as strong as the set-up. I did a short film of my own last year, so I'm trying to look at directing as well. I've got a few things lined up with that, which is something I've always been interested in.' But that doesn't mean he is done acting, Wernham added, "I'm also back auditioning – I'm back out there. It's always sad when a job finishes, because you're saying goodbye to people that you like and a character that you like. Hollyoaks streams globally on YouTube at a one week delay. The actor has confirmed he has left the show in an exclusive chat with The Sun HOLLYOAKS star Charlie Wernham has confirmed he's left the show after his character Robbie Roscoe was revealed to have been murdered. The actor - who has played Robbie over 12 years on and off - admitted he's gutted to be missing the soap's 30th anniversary in October, but is hoping for a ghostly return at some point. 'It's a massive shame to say goodbye to the character and not going to be able to play him anymore but to be fair, I didn't think I'd ever get a chance to play him again. 'So I'm very happy that the opportunity come around to come back and bring the character back and is quite interesting ending so I'm quite satisfied.' Viewers watched today and discovered that the Robbie they'd seen over the past few months, trapped in serial killer Jez Blake's shed, was actually a vision in Jez's head. 'But I knew that would only be at least three months and then I got to come back for a year and I knew it knew it gonna be a year.
