Streets in North Glasgow to close for BBC TV drama Mint
Preparation, filming, and clean-up for the eight-part series will take place in and around Adamswell Street, in Springburn, from Tuesday, May 27, until Thursday, May 29. It is understood that the filming is related to the BBC TV drama Mint, which is also being filmed in the city centre this week. The street will be closed between Ayr Street and Ringford Street from 3pm on May 27 until 8pm on May 29. READ MORE: How much does it cost to be dropped off or picked up at Glasgow Airport? Ringford Street will also be closed between Flemington Street from 3pm on May 28 until 8pm on May 29. Ayr Street, prior to Adamswell Street, will see restrictions from 9am until 9pm on May 29. Adamswell Street between Ayr Street and the end of the street to the east will also be closed over the same period. The restrictions will be in place "to facilitate a temporary restriction to allow filming to take place and for the safety of other road users and pedestrians." The BBC revealed casting information in March for Mint, a "darkly comic and unconventional drama" about a crime family's inner drama. The series is created, written and directed by Charlotte Regan, the acclaimed filmmaker behind award-winning movie Scrapper. It will star Loyle Carner, Emma Laird, Sam Riley, Laura Fraser, Lewis Gribben and Lindsay Duncan.

Glasgow's Wilson Street to close for filming next month
Preparation, filming and clear-up for the eight-part series will take place in and around Wilson Street from Tuesday, April 29 until Saturday, May 10. In a post shared on Facebook by Merchant City and Trongate Community Council, they revealed filming is scheduled to take place until 5.30am and 5am respectively on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3. Filming will take place on Wilson Street on Tuesday, May 6 from 3pm to 1am. Car clearance measures are expected to be implemented if needed. On May 7 and 8, interior filming will take place from the early afternoon until around 12.30-1am in a penthouse flat near Cranberry's café. Vehicles related to the filming will be parked on Candleriggs Square throughout with around 80 crew expected to be working on the series. BBC announces casting for new crime family drama Mint
The BBC has announced casting for Charlotte Regan's debut TV series Mint, produced by the Academy Award winning House Productions (Sherwood, Conclave, The Iron Claw) and indie film producers Fearless Minds (The Critic, Soulmates) for BBC iPlayer and BBC One. Created, written and directed by the acclaimed filmmaker behind the award-winning film Scrapper, the eight-part television series is a darkly comic and unconventional drama about a crime family's inner life, told through Regan's unique and distinctive voice. It explores the question of what love might feel like when everyone outside of your family is terrified of you. At the centre of Mint is Shannon (Emma Laird - The Brutalist, Mayor of Kingstown), the naïve and fiercely romantic daughter of the area's dominant crime family. Shannon is desperately searching for love in the shadow of her gangster father, Dylan (Sam Riley - Firebrand, Rebecca)), devoted mum Cat (Laura Fraser - Patience, Breaking Bad), older brother Luke (Lewis Gribben - Somewhere Boy, Black Mirror) and the indomitable family matriarch, grandma Ollie (Lindsay Duncan - TrueLove, Sherwood). Having grown up protected within the surreal, yet violent confines of the 'family business', things are set to change once Arran – played by acting newcomer Ben Coyle-Larner (better known as musician, Loyle Carner) - arrives on the scene. A story about soaring romance and crushing heartbreak, love, infatuation, darkness and tragedy, Shannon is trying to find herself whilst dealing with the plain weirdness of living alongside the lawless world of the criminal elite, and pursuing her own version of power. Charlotte Regan says: 'I had a little cry the other day thinking about how incredible this cast are. Absolute emotional wreck. But I honestly can't imagine these characters being brought into the world by better human beings. Every single one of them is going to smash it and I feel so grateful to have them all onboard.' Mint was commissioning by Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama. The eight-part series is filming in Glasgow, and is created, written, directed and executive produced by Charlotte Regan. It is made for BBC iPlayer and BBC One by House Productions, one of BBC Studios' owned production labels, and Fearless Minds.
