DGP holds half-yearly crime review meet

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Director General of Police, Dr Jitender, appreciated the efforts of all officers in maintaining law and order during the first half of the year. The DGP held the first half-yearly crime review meeting at the DGP office on Wednesday. In the meeting, DGP directed all unit officers to take proactive steps to focus on economic offences organized crime, enhance visible policing, and ensure public safety. Special emphasis was laid on women and children's safety, and performance of She Teams, AHTUs and Bharosa centres. The meeting was conducted by CID under ADG Charu Sinha, and joined by ADG LO Mahesh Bhagwat, ADG Anil Kumar, IG P& L M. Ramesh, SPs across the state, MZ IG Chandrashekhar Reddy and range DIG Tafseer Iqbal, as well as Cyberabad CPs Avinash Mohanty and Rachakonda G Sudheer Babu. The last presentation for the day was made by TGCSB Director Shikha Goel. During the review, the DGP examined crime trends, law and order situations, progress in investigation of major cases, and enforcement actions related to bodily offences, property offences, and crimes against women and children, presented by ADG CID. The key focus areas included the performance of each districts in all crimes, crime rate analysis, enhancing conviction rates, timely filing of charge sheets, and strengthening inter-departmental coordination. The DGP emphasized upon the use of data driven policing for crime mapping and effective crime control. He called upon all field officers to improve accountability, transparency, and service delivery at the police station level, to foster greater trust between the police and the public.

Operation Muskaan: 7,678 children rescued in Telangana

HYDERABAD: The Women Safety Wing, Telangana has rescued 7,678 children, including 529 girls, across the state under the Operation Muskaan in the month of July. The operation is aimed at identifying and rescuing missing children forced into labour in hazardous conditions, begging and other such activities. Women Safety Wing (WSW) chief Charu Sinha said that 7,149 boys and 529 girls were rescued from July 1 to July 31 in the state. Out of them, 3783 are from 12 different states, including Odisha, Bihar and Rajasthan. Among the rescued victims, 6,718 were child labourers, 42 beggars, 357 street children, two bonded labourers while 559 were found engaged in other employment. A total of 1,713 cases were registered and 1,718 persons arrested during the operation.

Telangana Police signs MOU to support LGBTQIA+ community

In a step towards inclusive policing, the Women Safety Wing (WSW) of Telangana Police entered into a partnership with Yugantar, a Bengaluru-based non-profit organisation, to enhance support services for the LGBTQIA+ community across the State. The two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the Pride Place – Transgender (LGBTQIA+) Persons Protection Cell. This collaboration is expected to provide services, including - crisis intervention, mental health support, legal aid, and public awareness campaigns. As part of the agreement, Yugantar will extend the resources of its Queer-Trans Wellness and Support Centre in Hyderabad to aid vulnerable individuals. The organisation will also assist in training police personnel to handle cases involving LGBTQIA+ persons with greater sensitivity and care. The MoU was signed by Additional Director General of Police, Telangana Women Safety Wing, Charu Sinha.

In a move to standardise women's safety programmes across the Hyderabad region, the Women Safety Wing of the Telangana Police convened a high-level tri-commissionerate meeting on Tuesday. The meeting brought together police commissioners, senior officers, and Security Council members from Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda to strengthen inter-agency coordination and ensure uniform implementation of key safety initiatives. Cyberabad's 'Project Safe Stay', an initiative led by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), which audited over 1,000 hostels, was recommended for replication in Hyderabad and Rachakonda commissionerates to enhance hostel safety for women. Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Jitender called for regular apex-level coordination meetings and urged all stakeholders to collaborate seamlessly across commissionerates. He emphasised the need for consistent, scalable and impactful implementation of all women's safety programmes, noting that only through such synergy can a safer Telangana be built for all citizens. Additional DGP Women Safety Wing Charu Sinha underscored the importance of synchronised operations among the three Security Councils and stressed that services such as Bharosa Centres, CDEW family counselling centres, anti-human trafficking units and She Teams must operate in a streamlined and unified manner for effective service delivery.

Hyderabad: TheTelangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested a Chief Operating Officer of the Falcon invoicing company from Bathinda, Punjab involved in inducing the depositors under the pretext of high interest rates with short term plans and cheating 4,065 depositors to the tune of Rs 792 crore. Police arrested Aaryan Singh Chhabra (39) on July 4 in Punjab and brought him to Hyderabad on Sunday. The accused was produced before the Magistrate at Hyderabad for judicial remand. In addition to Aaryan Singh, 9 persons have been arrested in this case so far. According to the CID, the accused cheated the depositors, by developing Falcon Invoice Discounting Application and creating fake deals on the name of reputed MNCs, induced the depositors under the pretext of high interest rates with short term plans and collected about Rs 4,215 crore from 7,056 depositors, out of which 4,065 victims were cheated to the tune of Rs 792 crore. Following the complaints of victims, three cases were registered U/sec 316(2), 318(4), 61(2) of BNS and Section 5 of TSPDEF Act, 1999 at EOW PS Cyberabad and transferred to CID, TG, Hyderabad for further investigation. Additionally, 8 more cases are registered against the accused company and its directors across India. Charu Sinha, Additional Director General of Police, CID, TG, said that the accused company Capital Protection Force Pvt., Ltd., developed Falcon Invoice Discounting Application and advertised through Social Media platforms – Google, YouTube, Instagram and through Tele-callers, created fake deals in the name of MNCs and collected crores of rupees as deposits from the innocent depositors and issued invoice receipts and agreements and cheated the public. 'Aaryan who is accused 5 in the case was actively involved with the accused 2 Amar Deep Kumar, MD of the Company and other accused persons to attract depositors and cheated the gullible victims. He was the face of the scam and dealt with the victims and issued the receipts. He collected strategic deposits to a tune of Rs 14,35,00,000 from the victims on behalf of the company,' said Charu Sinha. Aaryan diverted an amount of Rs 1,62,55,619 to his account from the funds of Falcon. Soon after the reporting of the crime, he fled away to Nanded and from there to Bathinda, Punjab and took shelter in a Gurdwara. On information, a special team of CID Telangana went to Bathinda, Punjab and apprehended him. Police seized two cell phones and incriminating documents from his possession.
