Former Chiefs QB Sends Clear Message on Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen
Former Chiefs QB Sends Clear Message on Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Since being selected by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft, quarterback Josh Allen has led the team to a total of six playoff appearances, five consecutive division titles, seven postseason victories and two conference championship game appearances. Advertisement As far as personal accolades, Allen was named NFL MVP this past season, selected as an All-Pro twice (2020, 2024), and selected to the Pro Bowl three times (2020, 2022, 2024). One of the few things Allen hasn't achieved during his tenure with the Bills is a trip to the Super Bowl. Chase Daniel, co-host for FOX Sports' "The Facility" on FS1 and former Chiefs backup quarterback, stated the obstacle for both Allen and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on his show Friday. According to Starcade Media, Daniel believes Mahomes is the biggest obstacle to himself and Allen. Daniel may have a point about Allen's obstacle. Although Allen and the Bills are 4-1 in regular-season matchups with Mahomes and the Chiefs, they are 0-4 in playoff games against them. Advertisement In their first playoff matchup, the 2020 AFC Championship game, the Bills jumped out to a 9-0 lead but allowed 21 straight points before losing 38-24. The following year, in the AFC Divisional Round, Allen threw his fourth touchdown pass with 13 seconds remaining to give the Bills a 36-33 lead. Mahomes quickly drove his team down the field to set up a game-tying field goal. The Chiefs won the coin toss, and Mahomes found Travis Kelce for an eight-yard touchdown to win the game in overtime 42-36. Rebilas-Imagn Images Their third playoff match-up, a 2023 AFC Divisional Round game, saw the Bills lose again, 27-24, despite Allen's one TD pass and two rushing TDs. Bills kicker Tyler Bass missed a potential game-tying field goal from 44 yards out, allowing the Chiefs to run out the remaining 1:47 for the win. Advertisement Finally, in this year's AFC Championship Game on January 27, Mahomes led the Chiefs to another Super Bowl appearance with a 32-29 victory. Allen threw a fourth-quarter TD reception to help tie the game, only to have Mahomes lead the Chiefs down the field to set up a go-ahead field goal. Cowboys Vs. Chiefs Sparks ‘America's Team' Debate
FRISCO — The NFL has turned to its cash cow yet again for some major prime time spots. Once more, the Dallas Cowboys are a featured entity on the league's holiday schedule. This time around, "America's Team is double-dipping with their usual Thanksgiving Day contest and another matchup on Christmas Day. But its the Turkey Day matchup causing a fuss on social media. Advertisement Dallas will host the Kansas City Chiefs in arguably one of the league's highest profile matchups of the season. The game has the potential to set regular season viewership records. However, there is much debate in determining who the "A" side of this bout actually is. Former Chiefs backup Chase Daniel believes it to be his team and even made a case as to why they have overtaken the claim to being "America's Team." "If you talk about on-field success, the sustained success of the Chiefs has brought global brand recognition," he said Wednesday on FS1's "The Facility." "If it wasn't Cowboys [versus] Chiefs this game would pull 38, 39 million. But because of the Chiefs, it's going to pull 50 million. "Last year the Chiefs are the most watched football team of anyone on average... The NFL is better when the Cowboys are good, but when you look at what the Chiefs have done, it's really hard not to say the Chiefs aren't the new 'America's Team." Advertisement The success is undeniable and frankly Cowboys fans will not even argue that point. But Daniel is getting his evaluation of brand power mixed up in the first place. The Cowboys are consistently the backbone to any major matchup, regular season or playoffs. The league understands that allotting them special treatment on these holiday broadcasts or in a prime time slot raises the floor of the product they put out. Now Kansas City's own widespread fan base will be able to fully capitalize on the floor the Cowboys set. But if the latter is removed from the equation, the Chiefs themselves are simply less of a draw. Any claim the Chiefs or another franchise makes to the "America's Team" moniker simply have no legs and are just odd in practice. The Cowboys claimed that title first and that brand has lasted through some rough years. Advertisement Nonetheless, the brand power of both sides will drive this much anticipated holiday season matchup. Hopefully the teams can deliver on the hype. (Image via Getty: Caleb Williams) Nate Tice, host of The Athletic Football Show, shared via his X: This quote makes Caleb Williams ' early handling of protections and no-huddle plays even more impressive. - What was the quote? The book also sheds light on Williams 's tumultuous rookie season, in which both Eberflus and Waldon were fired and the Bears lost 10 straight games. At times, Williams said he would watch film alone, with no instruction or guidance from the coaches. 'No one tells me what to watch,' Caleb Williams told his dad. 'I just turn it on.' Chase Daniel , former Chicago Bears quarterback, reposted Nate Tice's X post with the caption: This is exactly why Case Keenum is going to be a brilliant signing. Every single day as an NFL QB is mapped out from what to watch and how to do things. Case knows the way. On April 3, 2025, 37-year-old Case Keenum signed a 1-year deal worth $3 million with the Chicago Bears.
