Iconic music festival site that hosted The Wiggles, Black Eyed Peas and Silverchair finds new owner after two-year ordeal

After sitting on the market for nearly two years, the original site of Victoria's iconic Falls Festival has finally found a buyer. The 59-hectare patch of land nestled in the Great Otway National Park at Lorne – which played host to some of the biggest names in music over its 25-year history – has officially been sold, with plans already on the table. From 1993 to 2018, the regional Victorian property – located 140km from Melbourne - became synonymous with summer fun, drawing over 15,000 festivalgoers each year. Legendary acts like Blondie, Iggy Pop, The Wiggles, The Black Eyed Peas, Childish Gambino, Paul Kelly, Silverchair and John Farnham all graced its stage over the decades. But in 2019, the party was put on hold after the Black Summer bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic later forced a pause on festivities. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. In the years that followed, the Falls Festival shifted locations, with editions held in Byron Bay, Melbourne, and Fremantle. In 2023, the Lorne property hit the market with a $4million price tag but failed to find a buyer. It was re-listed in February this year at a reduced price guide from $2.25million to $2.5million. This time, the deal went through – though the final sale price remains under wraps. The sale included a total of 68 hectares across three lots – two cleared parcels described as 'blank canvases', and the main festival site, complete with a stage, manager's cottage, toilets, and several outbuildings. Listing agent Jason Hellyer from Ray White Rural confirmed the sale had been finalised. He told Domain the new owners are still determining what they will be doing with the site. In 2023, it was reported that Falls Festival's highly-anticipated New Year's Eve event had been cancelled. 'After an impressive 28 years ringing in the New Year with some of the world's biggest acts, the Falls team are today switching on their OOO's and taking this New Year's season off to rest, recover and recalibrate,' a statement read. 'We send huge love and appreciation to all our patrons for their ongoing support and for the great vibes they bought to the 2022/2023 events.' However, Falls producer Jessica Ducrou hinted the festival isn't over for good, but just on hiatus for now. 'The past few years has seen unprecedented change in the live music space, both front of house and behind the scenes,' she said, according to Triple J. 'While Falls' reboot in 2022/23 was full of amazing moments and we were thrilled to reconnect with our Falls Fam, our team needs a break. 'We'll take time off to enjoy the holiday period and allow some space to re-imagine how Falls will look in the future.'

A$AP x Star Wars? Find out which rapper auditioned to play Lando Calrissian

The Force was almost with A$AP Rocky. The Grammy-nominated rapper previously auditioned to play the role of Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story. In an interview with Variety, Rocky shared his brutally honest review of his tryout for Star Wars. Recommended Videos 'I auditioned for Star Wars, and my audition was trash,' Rocky told Variety. 'I was trash that day.' The role ultimately went to Donald Glover, who also goes by his musical stage name, Childish Gambino. While Solo failed critically and financially, Glover received positive reviews for his performance, with Rocky being one of his biggest supporters. 'My man Childish Gambino was a way better Lando than I would've provided at that time,' Rocky explained. 'And I think he looked a little more like [Billy Dee Williams] than me.' Despite the failed audition, Rocky would happily take another shot at joining the Star Wars universe. Released in 2018, Solo starred Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, a smuggler who will one day become a hero for the Rebel Alliance in the battle against the Galactic Empire. Solo takes place approximately 10 years before Star Wars: A New Hope and chronicles the dangerous heist involving the Kessel Run. The movie introduces Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), Han's eventual co-pilot, and Lando, the cunning smuggler who lends him the iconic Millennium Falcon. Billy Dee Williams originated the role of Lando in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Williams later reappeared as Lando in The Rise of Skywalker. In December 2020, Lucasfilm announced a Lando limited series at Disney+. Three years later, Stephen Glover, Donald's brother and collaborator, revealed Lando had shifted from a TV show to a movie. The movie remains in development. Rocky will next be seen in Highest 2 Lowest, Spike Lee's crime thriller starring Denzel Washington. The movie will premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Highest 2 Lowest opens in theaters on August 22 and streams on Apple TV+ on September 5. Please enable Javascript to view this content

Jennie Becomes The Most Successful Korean Artist In One Chart's History

Jennie debuts on the Hot R&B Songs chart with "Damn Right," becoming the only K-pop artist to earn ... More multiple hits on the genre-specific Billboard ranking. (Photo by Thibaud MORITZ / AFP) (Photo by THIBAUD MORITZ/AFP via Getty Images) Jennie is everywhere right now – or at least that's how it seems. The Blackpink member is enjoying one of the biggest weeks of her solo career, and it's all thanks to her brand new album, Ruby. Her name is spread across Billboard's rankings in the U.S. and around the world. Not only does she debut on several tallies, but she also manages to appear on a genre-specific list that rarely welcomes K-pop stars. As she arrives, she sets herself apart as the most successful act from South Korea in the history of that list. Jennie Debuts on Hot R&B Songs With 'Damn Right' 'Damn Right,' one of Jennie's just-released tracks, launches on the Hot R&B Songs chart this week. The tune opens at No. 24, giving the singer another win on a Billboard ranking that's typically dominated by American stars. The list, which measures the most-consumed R&B tracks in the U.S., combines sales, streams, and radio airplay — and it shows that Jennie is clearly reaching a wide audience. Jennie Scores Her Second R&B Hit This isn't the first time Jennie has reached the Hot R&B Songs list. In 2023, she made her debut on the roster as a featured artist on 'One of the Girls.' That single, crafted by The Weeknd for his TV show The Idol, saw the icon collaborating with both Jennie and Lily-Rose Depp. The track proved to be a substantial success, peaking at No. 4. Jennie Makes History Among K-Pop Artists With her second placement on the Hot R&B Songs chart, Jennie becomes the only K-pop act to reach the tally more than once. The only other South Korean artist to have appeared on the list is V, a member of BTS. He earned his first R&B hit when he teamed up with rising singer Umi on 'Wherever U R.' Jennie now holds the distinction of being the most successful K-pop musician on this chart, both in terms of the number of appearances and the peak position reached. Childish Gambino and Kali Uchis Help Jennie Land a Genre Win Jennie isn't alone on 'Damn Right.' The tune also credits Childish Gambino and Kali Uchis, two critically acclaimed artists who are firmly rooted in the R&B world. Their involvement adds genre credibility to her work, and it likely helped the song find an audience among fans of more traditional R&B. 'Damn Right' earns the highest debut on the Hot R&B Songs chart this week, even though it opens near the bottom. It sits above only one other new entry — 'Worst Behavior' by KWN and Kehlani, which lands in last place, at No. 25. 'Damn Right' Appears On Three Billboard Charts 'Damn Right' isn't just a U.S.-focused success. The single also finds room on a pair of worldwide rankings published by Billboard. The cut opens at No. 148 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and No. 182 on the Billboard Global 200. These lower-tier debuts come alongside a few other tracks from Jennie's new full-length Ruby, which are also scattered throughout the two international lists.

Great food, culture and history: how Atlanta became a travel hotspot

Exploring the streets of Atlanta is to immerse yourself in a modern creative and cultural heavyweight, where everything from the sound of hip-hop to the clack of a film director's clapperboard are commonplace. It won't take long after you've arrived to realise you're in one of the most diverse and exciting cities in the United States. From the birthplace and first home of Martin Luther King Jr to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Atlanta's rich history has been felt around the world. Now its status as the capital of hip hop, thanks to the success of OutKast, Ludacris, Childish Gambino and countless others, and its role as a major filming hub for the big screen – The Hunger Games trilogy and a number of Marvel films were shot there – is helping take Atlanta to the world. But you won't really get the flavour of Atlanta's numerous, distinct neighbourhoods and welcoming vibe unless you explore it for yourself. With direct flights from London Heathrow with British Airways, it's never been easier to plan a trip. And as Atlanta is set to be one of the host cities for the 2026 World Cup, there's never been a better time to visit. With so much to explore, hiring a car is key. British Airways Holidays makes it simple to book your car rental, hotel rooms and flights all in one place, so you'll be on your way sooner than you can say 'Action!' A gastronomic gem In short, Atlanta is a foodie hub, home to both world-class restaurants and homely multi-generational mom-and-pop eateries serving Southern classics lovingly made. It would be a missed opportunity to visit Atlanta without trying lemon-pepper wings, the city's beloved dish. You'll find the king of wings all across the city, though the recipes are as varied as the places that serve them. Head to the Ponce City Market food hall to get a flavour of the multi-cultural city. Set within the restored Sears building, this buzzing space is a favourite gathering spot for Atlantans, home to fare from James Beard Award-winning chefs serving Georgia and Carolinas-caught seafood, along with mouthwatering burgers and fried catfish tacos. The chance to enjoy drinks and a game of mini-golf on its rooftop is another local treat that should be on your radar. What to see Experience the past, present and future of the city all in one place at Centennial Olympic Park. A legacy of the 1996 Olympic Games, the park is now home to several of Atlanta's major tourist attractions. Coca-Cola was invented in Atlanta, and it's here you'll find a whole attraction dedicated to the famous soft drink. Head to the World of Coca-Cola to customise your own can, try exclusive flavours and learn about its history. Another Atlanta icon is Martin Luther King Jr, who became a national symbol of the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr National Historical Park is home to a number of landmarks in his honour, including the King Center, the final resting place of Dr King and his wife. The Great Outdoors Atlanta is nicknamed the City in the Forest for good reason. Trees hug the city – in fact, you'll find around 300 lush parks and green spaces across Atlanta; each a unique natural oasis. If you take a picnic to grassy Piedmont Park in Midtown you'll find rolling hills, serene lakes and miles of trails traversing its 200 acres. Budding horticulturists should make a beeline for the Atlanta Botanical Garden, renowned for its beautiful displays and expansive plant collection, including sculptures made entirely of foliage. Its Fuqua Orchid Center is home to the foremost collection of orchids in the United States. Finally, the pioneering Atlanta Beltline is best visited on foot or by bike. The now-disused rail routes make up its 22-mile network of trails, stitching together the city's vibrant inner-city neighbourhoods. It's also home to the south-east's largest temporary public art project, Atlanta Beltline Art – there's an ever-changing array of murals, sculptures performances and more for you to admire while you're stretching your legs. Where to stay in Atlanta It's fitting that a city that offers everything you could wish for in a getaway also delivers when it comes to accommodation. If you want to be perfectly placed to explore Downtown, Midtown and Old Fourth Ward then Hotel Clermont fits the bill – this boutique spot is a culinary hub in its own right, and features a rooftop bar with stunning skyline views. For something a touch more refined, head to the five-star Westin Peachtree Plaza for world-class service and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto the city. The chic and stylish Hyatt Place is the ideal place to set up camp in the bustling Downtown district. Southern comforts with British Airways Holidays Getting here is easy: British Airways operates multiple weekly flights to Atlanta, Nashville and New Orleans from London Heathrow, which makes getting to the Deep South simple. What's more, when you book your flights and car hire together through British Airways Holidays and their exclusive car hire partner Avis, you're able to experience that authentic Southern charm the best way possible, on a fly-drive holiday. And for a place to rest your head after a day of exploring, British Airways Holidays offer a range of hotel options to suit all budgets, so your trip is well covered. You will also receive a generous baggage allowance for any goodies you pick up along the way.
