Assets for Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas can be found here. IRVINE, Calif., March 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Inspired by the vibrant culture of street tacos, Taco Bell's Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas revive the fan-favorite street chalupas with a bold new edge: a crispy new exterior and craveable sauce. Street food is all about bold flavors, bright ingredients and a touch of creativity and this next evolution in Taco Bell's ode to street food culture infuses the best of traditional street tacos – simple ingredients like onions and cilantro – into a crispy toasted cheddar shell and a new Chile Lime Crema Sauce. This new menu item provides a new flavor experience that's craveable from the outside in. Building on a legacy of bold chalupa innovations, Taco Bell is merging two fan-favorite menu creations from the past – the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa from 2019 and last year's Cheesy Street Chalupas – to deliver the ultimate mashup of crispy, cheesy and street-inspired indulgence. Initially tested in Houston in August 2024 and recently announced at Taco Bell's Live Más LIVE event in New York, the new menu item is now available nationwide for $5.49 a la carte starting March 27, for a limited time while supplies last. 'The street taco is a cultural staple built on bold flavor and quality ingredients, and the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas honors that tradition while bringing in a unique Taco Bell touch that packs even more flavor into every bite,' said Luis Restrepo, Taco Bell's Vice President, Product Innovation. 'Fans immediately fell in love with the crispy, cheesy bite of the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa in 2019, and now we're elevating that street-inspired flavor experience and that's exactly the kind of comeback our fans have been waiting for.' Unique Tasting Experience with Flavors That Hit from the Outside In The Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas deliver a striking first impression with layers of flavor inside and out. Here's the breakdown: Toasted Cheesy Shell: A chalupa shell with a layer of mild cheddar, baked directly into the dough, and toasted to perfection for a crispy, cheesy, and savory bite. Premium ingredients: Packed with fresh onions and cilantro – an ode to the street taco – and a choice of slow-roasted Cantina chicken or grilled, marinated steak. Saucy surprise: Chile Lime Crema Sauce – a bold and zesty fusion of lime, fiery chile peppers, garlic, parmesan, and Romano cheeses, bringing all the flavors together in harmony. Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas are available for a limited time at participating Taco Bell locations nationwide, starting at $5.49 for two chalupas (same protein per order). What is a Queso Crisp Taco? Taco Bell announces new items and old favorites back on the menu

Whether it's chicken nuggets or a box of tacos, the Taco Bell menu has a bit of everything and is soon getting more. On Tuesday, the company had its Live Más LIVE event, during which Taco Bell presented some of the new foods and drinks it has coming soon: For the cheese heads, there's the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupa with a layer of crispy cheese on the outside and a new Chile Lime Crema Sauce on the inside. Want more? Try the Queso Crisp Taco with a shell made entirely of crispy cheese Guilty: 14 convicted in Georgia for 'large-scale' dog fighting event. What they're facing Devoted fans of the Beefy Crunch Burrito with Flamin' Hot Fritos were excited to hear it's coming back, and this time with "Flamin' Hot" seasoning in the rice. There was also good news for the Baja Blast devotees. A new flavor of the drink is coming out called Baja Blast Midnight highlighting a passion fruit burst. They are also looking at bringing back the Baja Blast Pie around Thanksgiving. Another spin on a favorite is the Chicken Nuggets which will come back twice this year and offer a new Mike's Hot Honey Diablo Sauce. Similarly, Taco Bell will start offering Chicken Strips. Then there's the Rolled Poblano Quesadilla with chicken, steak, and poblano peppers as well as the Grilled Cheese Burrito with Shredded Beef. Remember the Decades Menu? They are planning to bring that one back too, but focused on menu items from the early 2000's and 2010's: Chili Cheese Burrito Caramel Apple Empanada Doritos Locos Tacos Double Decker Seven Layer Burrito During the event, Taco Bell introduced "Fan Style," a new function of the Taco Bell app. The concept is, if you tend to order something custom, you can save your custom dish in the app, name it, and share that customizations with others. Users will also be rewarded for others ordering their customizations, but there are no details on how that will work. Currently, Taco Bell's drink menu is largely limited to soft drinks. But the company is looking to change that with Live Más Café, a new model of beverage-focused restaurants featuring 30 drink possibility from dirty sodas and specialty coffees to Agua Refrescas and "Churro Chillers." Currently there is only one in San Diego and the company did a pop-up during Live Más LIVE in New York. Taco Bell's Chief Food Innovation Officer, Liz Matthews, previewed multiple dishes the company is testing out and could roll out to menus in the future. Here were a few we are looking forward to: Brisket Taco: A taco featuring slow-roasted brisket, shredded cheese and purple cabbage. Mexican Pizza Empanada: The cult classic Mexican Pizza inside of a flakey crispy empanada. Mini Taco Salad: A bite-sized version of the classic taco salad. Poutine Fries: Seasoned fries topped with slow-roasted pork, gravy, and cheese curds. Salted Caramel & Toffee Cream Empanada Bite: A twist on the Caramel Apple Empanada with salted caramel and toffee cream. Miguel Legoas is a Deep South Connect Team Reporter for Gannett/USA Today.
