Six held over football match brawl in Kota Belud
KOTA BELUD: Six men have been arrested after a brawl broke out during a football match in Padang Dudan, Kampung Piasau here, yesterday. The incident has gone viral. The suspects, aged 24 to 42, were arrested about 12.10am today to assist in investigations. District police chief Superintendent Shahrudin Mat Husain said police received a report about the incident at 4.30pm yesterday. "Investigations found that the fight occurred during a football match at a field involving supporters from both teams. "Six men were arrested. Investigations are being carried out under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and disturbing public peace," he said today. He advised the public not to speculate on the matter as it could affect the investigation. "Anyone with information about the incident should go to the Kota Belud district police headquarters or contact investigating officer Inspector Christina Edris at 014-357 4148." More than 10 people were involved in the altercation, according to a viral video clip of the incident.
