FIVE vans have been donated to non-governmental organisations in Kulai, Johor, to help the underprivileged, including the elderly and people with special needs.
Johor MCA public services and complaints bureau chief Chua Jian Boon said one of the vans was donated to Kulai Besar volunteer fire brigade.
'I hope the van can help in their activities, as they are also involved in catching snakes and wild monkeys in the area.'
Another beneficiary was Kampung Baru Kulai, a Chinese new village that Chua said needed the vehicle to transport old folks to hospital and clinics.
Another van went to Kulai Buddhist Association which ferries children, including those with special needs, to tuition classes and extracurricular activities.
One van each went to Surau An-Najah and Masjid Al-Ehsan for funeral management purposes.
Chua thanked Kelab Sukan dan Reakreasi Malaysia for helping to raise RM100,000 for the vehicle assistance project.
Chua, who is also Johor Mentri Besar's special aid for Chinese affairs, said that not being an elected representative did not stop him from reaching out to help the community in terms of assistance, medical subsidies, and tuition classes for the less privileged.
