A Massive Amount of Egg Substitutes Have Been Recalled in 8 States

Eggs are so expensive these days, so many people are turning to egg substitutes as an alternative for all their breakfast and baking needs. Liquid egg substitutes have risen in popularity, but with four products now being recalled due to the potential presence of cleaning solution, customers may be second-guessing their back-up of choice. Here's everything you need to know about the Bob Evans and Egg Beater Kitchen Solutions, parent company of Egg Beaters and Bob Evans, just across eight states (and potentially more). The recall is being enacted in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), who have issued the revocation as a Class III recall, which is the lowest level for a recall. "[It] involves a situation where use of the product will not cause adverse health consequences, or the risk is negligible." This means consuming the affected products comes with a very low risk. The FSIS notes, "there is a possibility that the products were distributed nationwide." Arizona California Colorado Florida Illinois Iowa Ohio Texas Four egg substitutes are being recalled due to the potential presence of sodium hypochlorite, a cleaning solution. The revocation comes after the "FSIS received a tip about the potential contamination." Once alerted, the agency conducted an investigation with the help of scientists, concluding that the contents of the solution within the products should not cause negative health effects. To positively identify whether you have one or more of the affected products, check the establishment number, located at the top edge of the carton next to the 'Best-by' date. If both the number and date match one of those listed above, the FSIS recommends not to consume the product. Instead, throw it away or return it to the store where you purchased it. Over 212,000 Pounds of Liquid Eggs Recalled By USDA Over Potential Contamination

Over 212,000 pounds of liquid eggs manufactured by Cargill Kitchen Solutions are being recalled due to concerns that the products were mixed with a cleaning solution. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall on March 28. Here's a list of the products included in the recall. Lake Odessa, Michigan-based company Cargill Kitchen Solutions is facing a product recall after the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) received a tip that the company's liquid egg substitute may contain a mix of the cleaning solution sodium hypochlorite. FSIS initiated an investigation into the claim, which led the organization to issue the recall of approximately 212,268 pounds of product on March 28. Due to the low risk of adverse health consequences, the FSIS gave this recall a Class III classification. That is the third highest type of classification FSIS uses. If you believe you have affected product, do not eat it. The affected products were all 32-oz cartons produced on March 12 and 13, 2025. The following are subject to recall: 'Egg beaters ORIGINAL LIQUID EGG SUBSTITUTE" USE BY AUG 10 2025 'Egg beaters CAGE-FREE ORIGINAL LIQUID EGG SUBSTITUTE' USE BY AUG 09 2025 'Egg beaters CAGE-FREE ORIGINAL FROZEN EGG SUBSTITUTE' USE BY MAR 07 2026 'Egg beaters NO ENJAULADAS ORIGINAL SUSTITUTO DE HUEVO CONGELADO' USE BY MAR 07 2026 'Bob Evans Better'n Eggs Made with Real Egg Whites' USE BY AUG 10 2025 The liquid eggs included in the recall all contain establishment number G1804, and they were distributed through companies in Ohio and Texas, where they were then used by food service establishments located in Iowa, Illinois, Florida, Colorado, California, and Arizona. While FSIS notes that some of these products may have been sold nationwide, as of the time of publication, the above states are the only known locations where they were used. However, the organization has expressed concerns that the products could still be located in the freezers or refrigerators of consumers and food service companies alike, which is why it is asking everyone to double-check their liquid egg substitutes before using them. The company issued a statement to multiple publications, including ABC News, explaining that the recall was issued out of 'an abundance of caution.' 'These products do not pose a health concern if consumed as noted by the USDA,' the statement read. 'And no illnesses or injuries associated with this product have been reported.' According to FSIS, Cargill Kitchen Solutions is asking customers with any additional questions or concerns about the recall to contact them directly, either by sending an email to media@ or by calling the recall hotline to speak with Chuck Miller at 1-844-419-1574. If you have consumed this product, and/or you have questions regarding your specific health and wellness situation, you should reach out to your primary care physician directly for more information. More than 200,000 pounds of Egg Beaters and other egg products recalled

A Michigan producer of liquid egg products is voluntary recalling some products because of possible contamination from a cleaning solution. Lake Odessa's Cargill Kitchen Solutions is recalling more than 200,000 pounds of fresh and frozen liquid egg products per a U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) alert. According to the alert, the products may contain a cleaning solution with sodium hypochlorite, commonly known as a bleaching agent. After receiving a tip, the FSIS scientists investigated and found that 'use of this product should not cause adverse health consequences, or the risk is negligible, resulting in a Class III recall.' The FSIS Class III recall lists the recall as having marginal risk. While there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions by consuming the products, the FSIS said those 'concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider.' The agency is concerned that some products may still be in consumers' or food service refrigerators or freezers. If you have these products, the FSIS advises consumers not to serve them. Toss the products out or return them to the place of purchase. The company, located between Lansing and Grand Rapids, produced the products on March 12 and March 13, 2025, with various use-by dates. Recalled products have the establishment number 'G1804' ink-jetted on the carton. More: Cheese sold at Michigan Aldi stores recalled.
