Newport MS meets Cymru Women's head coach at Senedd
The Cymru Women's head coach met Newport East MS John Griffiths.
The meeting took place in the Senedd ahead of the European Football Championships in Switzerland later this year.
The trophy was on display, with hopes it will return if Cymru wins the tournament.
Mr Griffiths wished Rhian Wilkinson and the team luck for their opening fixture against the Netherlands.
He said: "Taking part in the competition will have a positive impact on many girls and young women across Wales.
"They are an inspiration to all young women across the country, including here in Newport - and will help cultivate a new generation of strong female footballers."
Earlier this month, the FAW chose Lliswerry Primary School in Newport to launch its new school framework, CicStart.
Developed with the Youth Sport Trust, the resource aims to enhance football provision for children aged 7-11 in primary and Additional Learning Needs (ALN) schools across Wales.
