The Flushing Meadows tournament has revealed that a record-breaking prize fund is on offer, awaiting this year's champion. Four years ago, Raducanu astounded the globe with her Cinderella-like triumph in the United States as a teenager. Now aged 22, the British sensation aims to replicate her peak performance and once again astonish the tennis world, under the guidance of her new coach Francisc Roig, who formerly assisted Rafael Nadal. In 2021, Raducanu bagged a cool £1.8m from her monumental win, indicating that the grand slam reward has more than doubled since then. On Wednesday, tournament officials declared that the total prize money would be the 'largest purse in tennis history'. Even within the past year, the prize money has seen a significant increase. Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner, the 2024 champions, were awarded £2.7m for their performances in New York. The overall pool of funds distributed to players has witnessed a substantial rise of £11m, from £56m to £67m, reports the Mirror. This means that victorious men's and women's doubles pairs, along with winners of the new Mixed Doubles Championship, will receive £750,000 in prize money. Raducanu is hoping her recent coaching switch will ignite a strong performance in September. The British player has enlisted the services of Nadal's former coach, Roig, ahead of this month's competition.
