Make separate merit list for EWS women candidates in civil police recruitment 2021: Allahabad HC to govt
The Allahabad high court has directed the state government to prepare a separate merit list for EWS candidates (women) providing 20% horizontal reservation in 2021 recruitment for the selection of Sub Inspector (Civil Police)/Platoon Commander PAC/FSSO, Fire Service. Justice SS Shamshery passed the order on May 23 while allowing a bunch of petitions filed by Neha Sharma and 53 others. The court observed, 'State has accepted that seats for woman horizontal reservation under Open (general) Category (722) and seats from woman horizontal reservation under Economical Weaker Section Category (181) were clubbed together and in total 903 seats were allotted to woman and thus claimed that entire reservation of women in both said categories was satisfied.' Advocate Alok Mishra, appearing for the petitioners, argued, ' The state government wrongly clubbed reservation for women in open category and EWS. Therefore, though total number of seats reserved for women were filled but still only 34 women under EWS quota were benefited of reservation instead of 181 seats for which women of EWS quota were entitled.' The state had failed to show any provision, order or GO that instead of applying reservation for woman independently and separately under open category and EWS, they could club both reservations, which could lead a situation as in present case that only 34 women under EWS quota were benefited with horizontal reservation instead of 181 i.e. reserved seats, the court said.

Bodies of gran, mum and baby girl found in flat alongside four dead dogs
The bodies of three generations of women have been found in a flat. In a tragic incident in Brazil, a woman, her mother, and infant daughter were found deceased inside their flat, alongside their four pet dogs. The toddler's other grandmother alerted the police after failing to contact the family. Upon entry into the 13th-floor apartment located in Belo Horizonte, officers discovered three generations passed away on a bed, surrounded by their pets. The deceased have been identified as 68 year old Cristina Lúcia Bastos Teixeira, her daughter 42 year old Daniela Teixeira Antonini, and nearly two year old Giovanna Antonini Vasconcelos. Local law enforcement is currently probing into the causes of death. A statement from the building manager outlined the escalating concern: "She [the baby's paternal grandmother] contacted me very worried, perhaps feeling that something bad had happened. "I said that I was arriving at the building and that I would go to the 13th floor where they lived. As soon as I arrived on the floor, I smelled a very strong odour and called the police." The family had not been spotted since May 3, with forced entry into the home being made on May 9, as officers found all possible entrances securely locked on arrival, reports the Mirror. The infant's father informed the authorities that his daughter endured a grave health issue, entailing a disconnection between her oesophagus and stomach. The couple has since parted ways. The local Civil Police have taken over the investigation and issued a statement confirming the dispatch of a forensics squad to the flat for evidence gathering. Currently, they have not dismissed any potential leads in the case. Post-mortem examinations are being conducted on the deceased individuals. Further details regarding the breed or ages of the four dogs involved remain undisclosed, and it's unclear if their demise is linked to that of their owner. A representative from the force declared: "The Civil Police are awaiting the conclusion of the expert reports to confirm the circumstances and causes of the deaths and, at the moment, no line of investigation has been ruled out." With approximately 2.3 million residents, Belo Horizonte stands as Brazil's third-largest metropolis.

Pilates teacher poisoned to death after 'discovering husband's affair'
Pilates teacher Larissa Rodrigues had just learnt of her husband's affair when she suddenly died of poisoning in March of this year in the Jardim Botânico neighbourhood of Ribeirão Preto, Brazil A woman allegedly poisoned to death by her husband after she had "recently discovered his affair", police have claimed. Pilates teacher Larissa Rodrigues had just learnt of her husband's affair when she suddenly died of poisoning in March of this year in the Jardim Botânico neighbourhood of Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. Her partner, doctor Luiz Antonio Garnica, and his mother, Elizabete Arrabaça, were both arrested on suspicion of causing death by poisoning on Tuesday, May 6. According to the Civil Police, the woman with whom Garnica was in a relationship was not arrested, but is still the subject of the investigation. Her mobile phones and those of Garnica and Arrabaça were seized in compliance with search warrants issued by the Court. A toxicology report on the victim's body suggests the presence of lead shot. The police investigation is also looking to understand how the pair obtained the substance and how it was administered. Based on the arrests and the material extracted from the phones, lead investigator Fernando Bravo hopes to clarify the motive for the crime. He said: "We managed to find a witness who reported that the mother-in-law was looking for lead to buy, approximately 15 days before the death, so this gave us certainty that she, together with her son, killed Larissa." In a statement to the Civil Police, a cousin of Larissa said that during the week of International Women's Day, at the beginning of March, the teacher found wine bottle corks with dates written on them and a box with sex toys in her husband's car, which raised suspicions of cheating. In the same statement, the cousin also reported that Larissa had told her about the doctor's trip to São Paulo and that she suspected that he had not travelled alone. Larissa said that she tried to video call him, but he did not answer her. According to police documents, days later Larissa went to the address of the woman Garnica was having an affair with and filmed her husband entering the building. According to reports, Larissa confronted her husband with the video. reports Garnica denied being with her and said Larissa was going crazy. The cousin also told police that the week after the video, Larissa fell ill with diarrhoea and vomiting, and that she reported that her mother-in-law was making soups for her. The teacher also said that she had been administered medication by her husband. According to Bravo, there is a suspicion that Garnica's lover helped provide an alibi for the doctor, a theory which is still under investigation. He added: "He went to the cinema with his lover the day before [the crime], so there are indications that he was preparing an alibi, so that's what we've been reading so far."

Who Is Luis da Silva? Suspect Who Plotted to Kill Lady Gaga Fans at Concert Identified as Illegal Immigrant Who Was Recently Deported from US
The suspected terrorist who allegedly planned to kill Lady Gaga fans by plotting a horrifying attack at her record-breaking concert in Brazil has been identified by as an illegal immigrant who was deported from the United States just last month, Brazilian officials revealed on Monday. Luis da Silva, 44, allegedly planned to live-stream the killing of children and plant bombs near the stage during Lady Gaga's concert, which attracted over 2.5 million fans to Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, according to the investigators. The threat was thwarted through a coordinated effort between Brazil's Ministry of Justice and Public Security and the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro. Arrested and Jailed "He said that the singer was a Satanist and that he was going to perform a Satanist ritual too, killing a child during the show," Rio de Janeiro Civil Police secretary, officer Felipe Curi, told reporters on Monday. Dubbed Operation Fake Monster—a reference to Lady Gaga's fanbase, known as "Little Monsters"—the investigation identified people who were allegedly recruiting others, including minors, to launch attacks at the concert using improvised explosives. One teenager was reportedly arrested after police thwarted the bomb attack. "The suspects were recruiting participants, including minors, to carry out coordinated attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails," the police said in a statement. Investigators uncovered online groups using coded messages and extremist imagery to incite violent behavior among teens. Law enforcement carried more than a dozen search and seizure operations targeting 15 people in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul, and São Paulo. "The plan was treated as a 'collective challenge' with the aim of gaining notoriety on social media," police said. The 39-year-old pop star's concert was funded by the city in a bid to give a boost to Rio's economy, with estimates suggesting it could generate close to $100 million in revenue. "Tonight, we're making history. Thank you for making history with me," Lady Gaga told the ecstatic audience. Extensive Operation Led to Arrest The Ministry of Justice said that 15 search and seizure warrants were executed across the states of Mato Grosso, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, and São Paulo. Authorities seized electronic devices and other items from the homes of nine suspects who are currently being investigated. Social media accounts tied to the suspects reportedly contained hate-filled content targeting the LGBT+ community, children, and teens. The accounts also encouraged teen radicalization, self-harm, pedophilia, and the circulation of violent materials online. Investigators say the group intended to disguise the attack as a viral social media challenge. Rio de Janeiro Civil Police Secretary Felipe Curi said that those involved will face terrorism charges. ""They were planning a terrorist attack. That's why we're only disclosing the operation today, so as not to spread panic. It was an important operation that didn't interfere with the event, but prevented greater harm from happening," he said at a press briefing.
