The distribution of appointment letters for 60,244 positions of constable in the Civil Police through direct recruitment for the year 2023 is proposed in the second week of June, as per the directions of the chief minister, stated the letter from the UP Director General of Police (DGP) on Monday. The officials said the event is likely to be held in Lucknow at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Ekana Stadium.
The letter outlines the next steps in the recruitment process for constables in the Civil Police, including the distribution of appointment letters and the actions required from the home districts to facilitate the process. The letter is addressed to all Police Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP) of different districts across the state.
The letter stated that the allocation of cadres for 48,196 male and 12,048 female candidates has been done through a previous order issued in this direction.. It further stated that the home districts of the new recruits are required to take the following actions on a priority basis. It included the files of selected candidates should be made available to the Joining Training Course (JTC) district by June 3 (Tuesday). The selected candidates will be summoned for a short period, and they will be informed about the details of the programme.
The DGP explained that the male candidates are required to wear full-sleeve white shirts, khaki pants, and black shoes, while female candidates should wear plain salwar suits or sarees He said the home districts will make arrangements for the candidates to travel to Lucknow and back, and the Police Commissioner, Lucknow, will make arrangements for their stay.

The DGP held the first half-yearly crime review meeting at the DGP office on Wednesday. In the meeting, DGP directed all unit officers to take proactive steps to focus on economic offences organized crime, enhance visible policing, and ensure public safety. Special emphasis was laid on women and children's safety, and performance of She Teams, AHTUs and Bharosa centres. The meeting was conducted by CID under ADG Charu Sinha, and joined by ADG LO Mahesh Bhagwat, ADG Anil Kumar, IG P& L M. During the review, the DGP examined crime trends, law and order situations, progress in investigation of major cases, and enforcement actions related to bodily offences, property offences, and crimes against women and children, presented by ADG CID. The key focus areas included the performance of each districts in all crimes, crime rate analysis, enhancing conviction rates, timely filing of charge sheets, and strengthening inter-departmental coordination. The DGP emphasized upon the use of data driven policing for crime mapping and effective crime control. He called upon all field officers to improve accountability, transparency, and service delivery at the police station level, to foster greater trust between the police and the public.

Lucknow: The UP govt in collaboration with Tata Technology Limited (TTL) would set up Tata Technology Excellence Centres in 121 govt polytechnics across the state to help these technical educational institutes meet industry requirements. In a govt order (GO), additional chief secretary, technical education, Narendra Bhooshan said the decision was taken to bridge the industry-academia gap prevalent in the diploma sector of technical education. "In polytechnics, some topics have become irrelevant or are not in accordance with industry requirements. These centres will upgrade them and bridged the industry-academia gap," Bhooshan said. For this, Rs 57.3 crore will be spent on installation of machines and equipment in each of the 121 polytechnics. Of the total Rs 6935.8 crore, 87%, that is, Rs 6034.2 crore, will be borne by TTL, and the remaining 13% (Rs 1063.9 crore) by the govt. Also, the state govt will spend an additional Rs 858 crore – Rs 709.2 lakh per institution – towards civil infrastructure and other basic facilities. In the first phase, 45 polytechnic institutions will be upgraded. As per the GO, TTL will involve global partner companies and institutions in upgrading the polytechnics. TTL will also prepare the project document related to the execution of the upgradation work and determine short, medium, and long-term strategies in it. In addition, they will prepare a baseline study report related to the status of the polytechnic institutions before the implementation of the project. TTL will also make available two trainers for the first two years and one trainer for the third year in each selected institute from its own sources. Besides, it will ensure the availability of training material, an online platform for training, and experts from industries as per demand in all 121 institutes and organise dialogue programmes at regular intervals.
