Columbia women rally to beat Washington n First Four, getting first NCAA Tournament win ever
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Riley Weiss scored 14 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter to help Columbia rally from a 13-point halftime deficit and beat Washington 63-60 on Thursday night for the school's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. Cecelia Collins added 12 points for the Lions (24-6), who won the First Four matchup of 11-seeds. They'll face sixth-seeded West Virginia on Saturday. Columbia trailed most of the game until the fourth quarter when Weiss got hot. Her two free throws with 18 seconds left gave the Lions a 61-57 lead. Elle Ladine came back hitting a deep 3-pointer a few seconds later to make it a one-point game. Weiss then swished two free throws to make it 63-60 with 12 seconds left. Natalie Fox had 12 points and 12 rebounds, including a couple of big offensive rebounds late for the Tribe. Monet Dance scored 15 points and Cassidy Geddes 12. Kayla Rolph had 10 rebounds. Lauren Scott scored 19 points, Aaliyah Collins 18 and Jaleesa Lawrence 15 for the Panthers (21-12), the Big South regular-season and tournament champions.

High Point got within four with 15.2 remaining but two more free throws by Dance wrapped up the win. There were nine lead changes and six ties with neither team holding a double-digit lead. William & Mary outrebounded High Point 45-31, including 15-9 on the offensive boards for a 12-2 advantage in second-chance points. The Panthers had 15 steals, turning 16 Tribe turnovers into 18 points.

William & Mary surrendered the first 14 points of the game and trailed 20-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Tribe outscored Campbell (21-12) in each of the last three quarters. The rally was complete when Cassidy Geddes followed a layup with a 3-pointer to give the Tribe their first lead at 56-55 with 6:45 left. The win was in hand when Nascimento popped an 18-foot jumper from the free-throw circle. Campbell's Olivia Tucker missed a 3-pointer with seven seconds left and the Lady Camels, with four fouls to give, could not foul enough times to send the Tribe to the line before time expired. Nascimento's career high came on 14-for-26 shooting and the 5-foot-8 guard had a game-high-tying 11 rebounds. Rebekah Frisby-Smith added 12 points and Geddes had 10 off the bench. Courtney Dahlquist scored 19 points, Gianni Boone 15 and Gemma Nunez 13 for Campbell. Dahlquist, Boone and Nunez combined for the first 14 points of the game, and they had 30 points in the first half, leading Campbell to a 34-26 halftime lead.
