Nascimento scores 33, buries huge jumper in William & Mary's stunning win in women's CAA Tournament
The Tribe (15-18) advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time and will be the first sub-.500 team since Incarnate Word in 2022.
William & Mary surrendered the first 14 points of the game and trailed 20-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Tribe outscored Campbell (21-12) in each of the last three quarters.
The rally was complete when Cassidy Geddes followed a layup with a 3-pointer to give the Tribe their first lead at 56-55 with 6:45 left.
The win was in hand when Nascimento popped an 18-foot jumper from the free-throw circle.
Campbell's Olivia Tucker missed a 3-pointer with seven seconds left and the Lady Camels, with four fouls to give, could not foul enough times to send the Tribe to the line before time expired.
Nascimento's career high came on 14-for-26 shooting and the 5-foot-8 guard had a game-high-tying 11 rebounds. Rebekah Frisby-Smith added 12 points and Geddes had 10 off the bench.
Courtney Dahlquist scored 19 points, Gianni Boone 15 and Gemma Nunez 13 for Campbell.
Dahlquist, Boone and Nunez combined for the first 14 points of the game, and they had 30 points in the first half, leading Campbell to a 34-26 halftime lead.
Dahlquist scored seven points in the first four minutes of the third quarter, helping the Lady Camels extend their eight-point lead to 43-30. Later in the quarter, Nascimento scored eight points in 1:15 and Frisby-Smith buried a 3-pointer to make it 53-49 heading to the final period. ___

Florida basketball coach Todd Golden ranked No. 10 in Top 50 coaches list. Is that too low?
College Basketball Report released its Top 50 coaches in college basketball on August 14. Coming off leading Florida basketball to a national championship, Florida basketball coach Todd Golden cracked the top 10 of the list at No. 10. Overall, Golden is 76-33 in three seasons with the Florida Gators, with two NCAA Tournament appearances. At 39 years old last April, Golden became the youngest coach since the late Jim Valvano in 1983 to win a national title when he guided UF to a dramatic 65-63 win over Houston in the 2025 national title game. Of the nine coaches ranked ahead of Golden, only three have won national championships. Dan Hurley, ranked No. 1, led UConn to back-to-back national titles in 2023 and 2024. Rick Pitino, at No. 4, led Kentucky to a national title in 1996 and Louisville to a national championship in 2013. Bill Self, at No. 6, led Kansas to national titles in 2008 and 2022. Nate Oats, who led Alabama to one Final Four in 2024 and Bruce Pearl, who led Auburn to Final Fours in 2019 and 2025, are ranked seventh and eighth. Golden is 4-2 head-to-head against Oats and 3-2 head-to-head against Pearl. Given those results, Golden should probably be ranked at least ahead of Oats, if not Pearl, and closer to the top five range. Of course, Golden will get a chance to further cement his status as an elite coach in 2025-26, with starting foward Alex Condon, starting center Rueben Chinyelu and star sixth man Thomas Haugh returning in an effort to defend UF's national title. Is this Calais Campbell's final season? Maybe not
Campbell spoke about his NFL future after 2025 on Thursday. Arizona Cardinals defensive Calais Campbell turns 39 on Sept. 1, and he is entering the 18th season of his career in the city where it all began in 2008. Naturally, many wonder if this will be the final go-round for Campbell. So it was that after the joint practice between the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos Thursday that he was asked point-blank, 'Is this your last year?' Campbell said, 'I mean (pausing), I will be very surprised if it's not. But I try not to think about the future; just stay present.' Campbell then repeated, 'I'll be very surprised if it's not.' Many media outlets have ran with that comment. However, that totally ignores what he said later at the end of his media session. When a reporter asked, 'With this potentially being your last year, when and why did you decide that this might be it for you?' Campbell laughed and somewhat hedged when he then said, 'I don't know. I haven't really decided that. It's just kinda like ... the nature.' He further explained, 'I felt this way ... I felt that the last year was likely the last couple years. So I will put that disclaimer out there. Like, last year at this time I felt the exact same way I feel right now. 'So, you never know. I love the game with all my heart and I feel like it would be cheating the game if I tried to look forward. I got to stay present, stay in the moment and just give it everything I can right now.' He will do that, so who knows? It is possible he will be on the field next year at this time, not many days until he turns 40. Vikings LB dominates Will Campbell, gives thoughts on Patriots rookie
New England Patriots rookie offensive tackle Will Campbell got his "welcome to the NFL moment" at Thursday's joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings. It came at the hands of Vikings Pro Bowl linebacker Jonathan Greenard, who bedeviled the first-year offensive lineman during the competitive team periods. Campbell gave up two sacks, one pressure and potentially a false start penalty. It has mostly been a mixed bag from the fourth overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft in training camp. However, Greenard believes it comes with the territory of being a rookie left tackle in the NFL. 'He's gonna be a good tackle. I think just with repetition and reps, it's gonna be really good,' Greenard told Boston Herald's Doug Kyed. 'He has some really good coaches over there. He's got some good talent over there to go against, obviously, just keep getting better. "But a guy like that needs reps, and that's all it is. It's a matter of just getting a feel, learning how to block in this league, learn how to protect yourself, learn how to protect with the chip, learn how to protect where your quarterback is and stuff like that." The Patriots knew patience would likely factor into the equation when it came to Campbell's development, but there was also the unspoken hope that he'd be great as soon as his cleats touched grass. It's no surprise considering he will be entrusted with protecting second-year quarterback Drake Maye's blindside. A mistake in a joint practice session isn't that big of a deal, but a mistake in a live game could have dire consequences. It's too early for the Patriots to hit the panic button, but there should be real concern with four-time Pro Bowl edge defender Maxx Crosby and former Defensive Player of the Year T.J.
