Indian River Queen shines as rocket sails through clouds and fog: Photo of the Week
FLORIDA TODAY's Malcolm Denemark is blunt: With so many rocket launches from the Space Coast, it gets harder for photographers to find a new location for a foreground for rockets which roar away at night.
You'd never know that by looking at this Photo of the Week. In at, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket rises over the Indian River through the clouds and fog on Starlink mission 6-83, taking off at 1:02 a.m. May 13 from Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
"The Indian River Queen, pretty much a Cocoa landmark, had been moved to the north side of Cocoa Village Marina while the south dock was being repaired from Hurricane Milton," he said.
"I saw the paddleboat was back at the south side and contacted the marina to get access."
Access granted, he snagged a cool, quasi-moody shot of two very different types of transportation.
"The strange low clouds and almost 100% humidity added to the scene, giving the photo a ghostly appearance," Denemark said.
